CM Punk walks out

It's entirely possible this is the WWE working the marks for shitting on the Rumble.

But if it's not, unless he's got another non-wrestling related opportunity going on like Lesnar way back when, it's him being a petulant diva. He's currently a midcarder, and has been for the better part of a year. Expecting to main event Mania would be ridculous at this point. It would be akin to Antonio Cesaro or Kofi Kingston expecting to be in a Wrestlemania main event.

I remember people saying that he was taking an awfully long rest during the Rumble.

Is it possible that he has an undisclosed injury and they're just working the Authority angle until he works out the injury?

Or maybe he was half-assing the Rumble so he could get his pay day and go home?

The guy sitting next to me at the show asked me several times "Where's Punk? Was he eliminated?". Every time I would spot him laying in a corner. He even at one point looked like he was sleeping, he had his hands on the side of his face like he does when he calls for the GTS. He obviously wasn't sleeping but it damn sure looked like it.

I'm a fan of Punk and it seemed like he was half-assing it. I just figured at the time that its a long match and he was resting since he would make it to the final group.

He's certainly a better choice than 2014 Dave Batista.

Maybe. But Batista's match, whoever it's against, isn't going to be the main event. Unless he's lucky enough to get Bryan in his match.

The main event will be Lesnar/'Taker.

Dave Meltzer's report on it all:

People in the company did not expect Punk to sign again in July due to injuries and being burnt out and were of the mind that he would be gone. The expectation now is that Punk will not be returning. Of course this could always change if Punk decides he wants to work.

This has been building for almost a year and is not due to any one thing. Punk was frustrated that he could not be the top guy in the company according to Meltzer. And as long as Cena is there it doesn't make sense for anyone but him to be the guy. Which is why they made Punk the top heel. It just finally all came to a head when he realized that he probably would be pushed further down the card at Wrestlemania to accommodate for Bryan going further up it. There was little chance he was going to sign another contract in July no matter what.

When and if Punk decides to return WWE will probably take him back because it is what is good for business, but whether Punk wants to return or not is unknown. If Punk were to return to wrestling don't be surprised if he does what he said in his 2011 shoot, return to ROH or even go abroad to NJPW.

Batista doesn't really factor into it too much at all. Except in the obvious 'there would be more spots without him' way.

If any of these reports are even close to true, then Punk is a gigantic bitch who is undeserving of any support the fans give him. He doesn't love the business, he loves himself.

The Punk haters will consider this a national holiday. Just remember before you shit all over him that WWE hasn't officially said anything about this yet. I have not read anything about future endeavors from WWE.

Of course, if he leaves either now or in July, the questions would finally be answered as to whether he was truly unhappy with his situation or whether it was all a work.

And yes, if attaining the top of his chosen profession and being a featured performer in the largest sports entertainment company in the world while being (presumably) better compensated than most people will ever know has left him in spasms of misery for his situation, then we can wish him well in whatever line of work he goes into, afterward.

Be interesting to see what career he chooses, if anything. After all, when Miss Elizabeth wanted to go back to work, her choice of employment suggested what she was best suited to, no?

Sometimes goodbye is not forever, Phil Brooks. Barry Manilow said so.

Then again, we don't know if Barry knew whether a program was a work or not.

Im too old to give a shit...

Seen stuff like this happen for years.

If he does leave....and after Mania season ends with all the part-timers gone....Im sure WWE will be knocking on Punks door.

But I honestly dont give a shit about the wrestlers whiny attitudes. However, if its true about putting him in a match with Kane at WM, then...LOL.

WWE gets dumber by the day

I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this is all a work and is part of the developing storyline. He will definitely be a part of WM30 and while he certainly won't be in the main event, he will still have a key match with someone, likely Triple H. I think this is a combination of storyline, rest, and rehab.

Who knows, maybe they have something Iconic in store for him at Wrestlemania?

Good lord whay would you want it like that? Hardy is awful as a heel and a great face and Punk is a natural cocky heel who is a bland face.

Mix it up a bit I thought. But you do have a point. Although I think Hardy's a ok heel and Punk is a good face

Good. He's so cheesy in his promos, can't connect some of his moves properly and is a fool if he thinks he was going to main event Mania and become a bigger star than Cena. I definitely prefer Bryan.

Which is fine, if Lesnar, Taker, or Cena are closing the show. Dave Batista scheduled for a title match is laughable.
