I am still shocked that this topic has gotten so much play. It's also no shock that the people who caused this thread have not posted in it.
Everyone, TBH, the mods don't really give too much of a shit about who rep-****es and who doesn't. But when someone like Sly or Jake who don't rep often and usually reserve rep for wrestling posts rep you, well, you should care more. When a rep ****e reps you in the bar room saying they are "spreading it around" it means shit other than a few points.
So I widened the gap to reach each rep plateau. You're all supposed to have fun with this, that's all. Everyone tends to take stuff like this too seriously - and Luther says it perfectly - it's just a wrestling forum.
The idea that people out there think that rep is what drives the mod staff, or that whether or not you are modded depends on the amount of rep you have - is ridiculous. It just so happens that the most respected and hardest working posters get mod spots, and they also happen to have a lot of rep because of their posts - not because they forge deals with other posters to spread rep amongst each other in hopes that it will get one of them modded.
So everyone just chill out and have fun - that's what it's all about, no?

It's about shiny rep bars, that you can apparently carry around with you on the subway, to be used as a conversation piece with the beautiful blond woman with large knockers sitting next to you, "yeah, these are my WZ rep points. I earned them because people I don't know and will never meet think I'm great".
THAT'S what it is about.
I don't really care about rep myself. It's nice to know people appreciate your posts in some form, but I could live without the rep system.

What has this got to do with mod spots anyway? I can't be bothered reading through this entire thread.
Nobody has brought it up here, but I think the argument is that to be a mod you have to have a lot of rep.
The fact that one of the mods is only on the second page of rep, should suggest to people that they are incorrect.
Mods are generally good posters who are on here often. Therefore they are likely to be repped. But people don't see it that way around, they just think that the rep leaders become mods, and not that they are rep leaders because they have the qualities needed for a mod.

When you were admin, I used to feel that to get Jake rep, you had to EARN Jake rep. It was almost always on wrestling posts.
