vCash. Explain.
why the hell do I have 500 $ of it....
Because, the TRUE point of rep is to show others what you think of a post they make. If you made a post and said "that sucks", and I red repped you with "this post sucks", then you know what I think. But, if you make a highly thought out, and in-depth post, and I appreciated what you were saying, then I would give you a positive rep saying, "Good post". Or something to that effect.Slyfox's idea is quite a good one, but I don't really understand the point. If people can be "repped", it's pretty much the same thing as we have now, except other people won't know what you have, and I think the people who do actively persue rep are probably doing it for self esteem rather than making themselves look the big man in the forums, so they will still continue to seek it the way they do.
Many of us don't care. In fact, it seems as if there are only a few people that care...those you call the bitch brigade, and you/Klunker/Shocky."since everyone is afraid to step and admit they care about rep on a wrestling forum...."
I would have no problem with it. I appreciate the fact that many people around here seem to think I do a good job posting, but I do not care if they don't. When I go into a debate, I debate the post, not the poster. I don't care what his rep is, I care simply about the arguments he's presenting. The only problem is that now everyone is super repped. I don't want to degrade certain posters, but to put them on the same level as Slyfox is ******ed. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, resetting the levels would mean the good established posters still had 11 bars, people like me who aren't too bad and who are less well established would have about 4 or 5 and then people who were shit, or barely average would have a grey one.
Again, I understand and can appreciate what you're saying, but I personally have zero problem with it.I know, I don't have a problem with resetting them, but it does seem a little unfair to people like Sam and Slyfox to be put onto the same level as Supergav67 (I always use this guy as an example of a bad poster. He is by no means the worst, but I've remembered his name for some reason, there's nothing personal for always using him, he's just a generic bad poster.), even if it is only briefly. If you reset it, people like NoFate and Slyfox, who don't really have strong allegiances on here would take longer to get back up to a higher level than someone who does, because people rep their friends, so then you'd not only have an unfair assessment of the quality and established posters compared to the ones who are just popular for the funnies.
And you'll also notice they're probably 40 of the most active and eldest members as well. The rep bars may mean nothing, but if you look at the top 50 on the members list sorted by rep, you probably have about 40 of the best posters on it, and that's no coincidence.
If our rep numbers were removee, I'd feel less inadequate about NSL and such having ungodly amounts of rep.![]()
Or something to that effect.
Thus, the emphasis would be simply upon the quality of the posting of whether or not you would get repped. There would be no points build-up, but that's silly anyways. If I make a 2 star post that Sam agrees with, and you make a 5 star post that 5 newer posters agree with, I would STILL receive more rep points for my post than you would, because Sam has more rep power. And while Sam may have earned that power, it doesn't change the fact that my post was inferior in quality to yours, and thus, gaining more rep points for it is silly.
Personally, I have ZERO problem with things the way they are. If rep means so much to people that they want to act like a bunch of little kids, going around repping each other, so be it. It doesn't bother me a bit, and don't understand why it would bother anyone else.
I mean, how does them having a good rep bar change anything that YOU do? How does it effect YOU?
Many of us don't care. In fact, it seems as if there are only a few people that care...those you call the bitch brigade, and you/Klunker/Shocky.
I check my reps constantly, but I don't care about gaining rep points, I care to see feedback on my posts. So, if you want to look at it in that regard, then sure, I care about the rep feedback. But, as far as having shiny green bars and "x" amount of rep points, I really couldn't care less.
I mean, how hard is it REALLY to get rep for posts in the wrestling sections? Seriously, the wrestling sections are probably the EASIEST places to manipulate for green rep.
I would have no problem with it. I appreciate the fact that many people around here seem to think I do a good job posting, but I do not care if they don't. When I go into a debate, I debate the post, not the poster. I don't care what his rep is, I care simply about the arguments he's presenting.
And that should be the way it goes. And, over time, posters will figure out who the better posters are, and it will stick. You don't need rep points/bars to figure out it out, I promise.
Again, I understand and can appreciate what you're saying, but I personally have zero problem with it.
Then again, I support leaving things the way they are, or just getting rid of rep points completely.
And you'll also notice they're probably 40 of the most active and eldest members as well.
