Where is everyone? Yeah the Steelers played horribly as did the Colts. The AFC looks like its crumbling under the Patriots regime....this is their year but remember they probably will face an opponent in the Super Bowl whom they have not faced...I believe this year Green Bay is better than Dallas....IMO....Green Bay has dominated most of their opponents (except Chicago, Kansas City and Denver)....and I think that they are the class of the NFC and the fact that Farve beat the Patriots a little over 10 years ago..in ther Super Bowl....I think Farve will end his career the same way Elway did...with a win over a heavy favorite..I know the Pats are better than the Cowboys and Colts and Steelers but they have not played the Packers yet.
X-Fear except for the Super Bowl prediction, u like my predictions? I think it is pretty accurate though right now I think the Browns might beat out the Titans possibly for the 6th spot. It should be good. I think though for the Pats to have a guaranteed Super Bowl win, they have to lose at least one game....in this day and age...u have to lose in order to win....look what happened to the Chargers....they were 14-2 and lost their 2 games by 6 points combined which is just like going 16-0 and then lost in the first round to (guess who) the Patriots....thats why my preseason prediction was Pats Over Cowboys but if the Pats go unbeaten....then it might be very risky. I don't know, that is just my opinion based on the past and the fact that #1 Regular Season Teams have not fared well in the playoffs in recent years.

What a shocker, Brain hasn't come here since his "amazing" Steelers got their asses kicked by the FUCKING JETS. xD xD xD roflmao.
They got dominated, their is nothing you can do, they came in with a game plan, and confused the hell out of a terrible offensive line.

Oh man its just so funny. I'm sorry Brian, but if Pittsburgh can't even keep up with one of the absolute worst teams in the NFL, you really expect them to even compete in the NE game?
Yeah they'll come around, they will play solid ball. They have played solid in big games, just wait and see.

Final score of NE-Pittsburgh game -- NE: 45 PITT: 17. And thats if they're lucky. Sorry to burst your bubble but your CB's and safetys are very suspect. And against the Brady-Moss connection---no. Just no. I'm predicting 3 Moss TDs in that game.
Ike Taylor has shut down basically every receiver he has gone up against this year. he shows up in big games, He is better than everyone thinks

When is this guy going to realize that The Big Cheese really just is not as good as he hopes and dreams and prays for him to be? And that the Super Bowl trophy will be residing in New England this year?
Yeah, because the Steelers aren't the 31st team in sacks allowed? They have given up the second most sacks in the NFL. Ben is still undoubtedly a top 3 NFL QB. They got dominated in a game, so be it, they played so pathetic, and still had a chance too win. Just wait for Mr Labeau and his crazy ass blitzing schemes and let him confuse Brady. Lebeau is a HOF coordinator, they'll come up with stuff to confuse Brady.

You need to accept the facts that the Steelers are going to lose to the Patriots. Seriously. Because if I knew you in real life, I would easily bet you my house, my parents, and everything I own that the Patriots win. Because its a sure thing. The only way they don't win is if Brady gets injured. Thats the ONLY way.

I don't care how good you think your team is man, they just aren't as good as the Patriots in any shape way or form. The defense's match up perfectly, and NE has a WAY better offense. Not to mention that whenever a "big game" as you call it comes up, Ben turns into absolute shit. Sure, the Steelers might still win a "big game" with Ben as QB, but he usually plays absolutely godawful in big games. In the Super Bowl his QB rating was less then a pathetic freakin' 30! And I'm sorry, but I don't care how much heart he has, if he plays like he usually does, then the Steelers don't stand a chance. How exactly are you going to beat the Pats? Big Ben? We have one of the most feared linebacking units in all of football, and despite the fact that they're "old" (though Adalius Thomas certainly shouldn't be considered 'old') they still destroy opponents week in and week out. Big Ben and the O-Line won't stand a chance against the platoon of players on our defense. Willie Parker? Not a chance, we've got the best run defense in the league last time I checked (though we may have bumped up to 2 or 3 by now). Defense? Please, the Pats dispose of great defenses like they're children.

Because thats one of the main things you don't seem to get about the Pats and their dominance. They can score from anyone at anytime, and the only sure things as starters are guys like Brady & Moss. Our defense is so ridiculiously deep with talented players, you won't know who to prepare for because you won't know who's going to play. Is it going to be the future HOF'ers Teddy Bruschi and Junior Seau? Is it going to be the versatile Mike Vrabel & Rosevelt Colvin? Or the dominating Adalius Thomas? And thats just the LINEBACKERS. Nevermind guys like Rodney Harrison, Richard Seymour & Asante Samuel.

Seriously, please explain what amazing plan the Steelers are going to come up with to beat the best team in the NFL when they got bitch slapped last week by probably the 2nd worst team in the NFL behind the Dolphins? Is that a joke? YOU LOST TO THE JETS. THE FREAKING JETS. END OF STORY.

I don't care how "genius" your offensive coordinator is, he doesn't even begin to hold a candle to Bill Belichick, who could very easily be the greatest football coach in all of history (beside Vince Lombardi & Bill Walsh of course).

I'm anxiously waiting what fantasies you will come up with next about how your completely overrated and overmatched Steelers will beat us.

You need to accept the facts that the Steelers are going to lose to the Patriots.
How is this a fact? it is football, anything can happen on any given Sunday, or Monday, or thursday night
The only way they don't win is if Brady gets injured. Thats the ONLY way.
I could make this happen

I don't care how good you think your team is man, they just aren't as good as the Patriots in any shape way or form.
Yes they are, they have a better running game, and they are ranked number one in defense, they have to be better than them some how
The defense's match up perfectly, and NE has a WAY better offense.
You'll see when they put Brady on his ass.
Not to mention that whenever a "big game" as you call it comes up, Ben turns into absolute shit.
Yeah Ben didn't have like the 3rd highest passer rating in playoff history against the Bronco's. That was the biggest game of his career to that point.
Sure, the Steelers might still win a "big game" with Ben as QB, but he usually plays absolutely godawful in big games.
^^^^^
In the Super Bowl his QB rating was less then a pathetic freakin' 30!
22.6 but thanks for giving him some.
And I'm sorry, but I don't care how much heart he has, if he plays like he usually does, then the Steelers don't stand a chance.
Like he usually does? He is still i believe top 5 in Td's and i believe is still second in qb rating. He must do something correctly
How exactly are you going to beat the Pats? Big Ben?
Yeah, him and his playmaking ability.
We have one of the most feared linebacking units in all of football, and despite the fact that they're "old" (though Adalius Thomas certainly shouldn't be considered 'old') they still destroy opponents week in and week out. Big Ben and the O-Line won't stand a chance against the platoon of players on our defense.
Yeah, because the Steelers will be scared. when they play against there defense. give me a break.
Willie Parker? Not a chance, we've got the best run defense in the league last time I checked (though we may have bumped up to 2 or 3 by now). Defense? Please, the Pats dispose of great defenses like they're children.
Steelers are number 2, Pats are 5

Because thats one of the main things you don't seem to get about the Pats and their dominance. They can score from anyone at anytime, and the only sure things as starters are guys like Brady & Moss. Casey Hampton, James Harrison, Larry Foote, Aaron Smith, Polamalu, Ike Taylor, Big Game Hines Ward, Heath Miller, Willie Parker can all have something to say about this. The Steelers have mad depth, they destroyed the Seahawks without their top players.

Seriously, please explain what amazing plan the Steelers are going to come up with to beat the best team in the NFL when they got bitch slapped last week by probably the 2nd worst team in the NFL behind the Dolphins?
The Jets game in their with a master minded game plan, confuse the o-line. There game plan was of pure brilliance. They knew if they stopped the rusj, Wilson, Holmes and Ward couldn't beat ya.
Is that a joke? YOU LOST TO THE JETS. THE FREAKING JETS. END OF STORY.
It is a game, every team loses. You do hit bumps in the road.

I don't care how "genius" your offensive coordinator is, he doesn't even begin to hold a candle to Bill Belichick, who could very easily be the greatest football coach in all of history (beside Vince Lombardi & Bill Walsh of course).

Meh, Chuck Noll was the winner of 4 SB rings also, he might have something to say about being the greatest coach, he turned around a god awful team in the late 60's too a team that won 4 Sb's in 10 years.

Just watch when them Steelers come out with a master minded game plan, put whiny ass Brady on his ass like they did to Manning several years ago. Confuse theh ell out of Brady and go home whining like his young child.

You forget Chuck Noll and Don Shula, both good coaches who dleivered their teams some great moments in history.

I find it amusing that you guys are already fighting about this "epic" game and it isn't until December 9th...the Steelers still have to play the Dolphins and Bengals (2 wins if they dont f up) and the Pats still have to play the Eagles (just say Feeley sucks) and the Ravens (no offense, no literally they have no offense)...

what do you guys think about this week's games? Tomorrow is Packers-Lions, Jets-Cowboys and Falcons-Colts......The NFC gets to showcase their talent on turkey day while the AFC's second best tries to regain their stagger.

But the Steelers in retrospect need to go out and take care of business monday night because the Dolphins have NO WINs....that makes them pathetic and dangerous at the same time. Like you said Brian ANY GIVEN SUNDAY....NBC is showing the Patriots again this weekend despite knowing it is gonna be a blowout...no offense to you Xfear but not many ppl are gonna be so tuned into the Pats game if it is 38-0 by halftime which is possible against the Feagles (I meant to spell it that way)....

As you know, my season is dead and buried....damn it you were right...damn it. O well always next season....at least when the Niners win in a few years and I start talking shit...u can always say Im a true fan. :)

Ahhhh god I just cannot wait until Dec. 9th when I can just roll around laughing my ass off as the Pats destroy the Steelers. The Pats have already beaten the defending Super Bowl champs the Colts. Steelers haven't.

And then this guy is bragging about beating the fucking SEAHAWKS?! ROFLMAO! The Seahawks are total GARBAGE. God I just don't understand how someone could be so incredibly mind-fuckingly stupid as to honestly try and argue that the Steelers are going to beat the Pats.

And how is Brady "whiny"? Because he destroys every single team with pinpoint accuracy and without even getting a scratch on him? Your CBs are absolute shit and they won't stand a chance against Moss & Welker in the slot. Not to mention a few of the guys you mentioned that are going to "bitch slap" us are fucking injured.

Patriots > Steelers. End of story. Get the fuck over it. It is not "any given sunday" this year. This year its "any given sunday, unless you're facing the Patriots". You don't stand a chance in hell.

As for todays game, meh. Lions-Packers should be decent, but I think the Pack has got that one down pretty easily. Lions may not be getting those 10 wins they've been clamoring for, but I still see them getting 8 or 9 wins.

All the other games are just blowouts.

I will laugh when they upset them. It's kind of hard to defeat the SB champs when they havent played them this year. Gosh that was an idiotic statement.

Even with the Seahawks poor record, they are an NFC elite team, on top of their division, thats a mighty fine win against a first place team

And how is Brady "whiny"? Because he destroys every single team with pinpoint accuracy and without even getting a scratch on him?
Easily, he'l pull his Manning impersonation and start pointing fingers at everyone else. Blaming everyone else but your self is a cool thing to do.
Your CBs are absolute shit and they won't stand a chance against Moss & Welker in the slot. Not to mention a few of the guys you mentioned that are going to "bitch slap" us are fucking injured.
Ike Taylor is a solid cornerback, ask Chad Johnson, listen to a Chad Johnson interview, and he will tell you how good taylor plays him. He said Taylor is his toughest opponent. Thats saying a lot coming from an elite wide receiver.

Patriots > Steelers. End of story. Get the fuck over it. It is not "any given sunday" this year. This year its "any given sunday, unless you're facing the Patriots". You don't stand a chance in hell.
meh, the Pats haven't faced a defense like the Steelers yet. I want too see your excuses when the Pats actually lose. You'll probably point fingers at everyone but your precious little QB. Any one can win on any given sunday.

As for todays game, meh. Lions-Packers should be decent, but I think the Pack has got that one down pretty easily. Lions may not be getting those 10 wins they've been clamoring for, but I still see them getting 8 or 9 wins.
They play in the dreaded NFC, anything is possible.

I will laugh when they upset them. It's kind of hard to defeat the SB champs when they havent played them this year. Gosh that was an idiotic statement.

And where did I say that you had faced the Colts? I didn't. I said you hadn't beaten the Colts. You haven't, have you? So that would be a fact, would it not?

Even with the Seahawks poor record, they are an NFC elite team, on top of their division, thats a mighty fine win against a first place team

Wow. Did you really just call the Seahawks an elite team? ROFL Thats a good one man, really. They're on top of the ABSOLUTE WORST DIVISION in football. They're barely over .500! They play in a fuckin' division with the 49ers, Cardinals and Rams for god's sake! It's pathetic! They're team is PATHETIC the only wins they have this year are against mediocre teams at best. So hardly an "elite" team at 6-4 and absolutely zero running game whatsoever.

Easily, he'l pull his Manning impersonation and start pointing fingers at everyone else. Blaming everyone else but your self is a cool thing to do.

Wow you just continue to prove yourself a fucking jackass. When has Peyton Manning EVER blamed a loss on someone? When has he EVER pointed fingers? Further more, when has Brady? Never. Ever. And he wouldn't, ya want to know why? Because if he did, he'd get bitch slapped by Belichick in 10 seconds flat. You really know jackshit about the Patriots and Brady.

Ike Taylor is a solid cornerback, ask Chad Johnson, listen to a Chad Johnson interview, and he will tell you how good taylor plays him. He said Taylor is his toughest opponent. Thats saying a lot coming from an elite wide receiver.

And this proves what? If Chad Johnson says its true, it must be! This coming from the guy who has touchdown dances planned weeks in advance and wears a "Future HOFer" coat? That guys judgment must be real sound, he's not an egotistical jackass at all.

But this is my favorite thing you said...

meh, the Pats haven't faced a defense like the Steelers yet. I want too see your excuses when the Pats actually lose. You'll probably point fingers at everyone but your precious little QB. Any one can win on any given sunday.

ROFL!

The Pats haven't faced a defense like the Steelers yet? Excuse me? We beat the Number 2 defense in the NFL, the Colts. Thats not a tough defense? Is that a joke? Cowboys are a top 10 defense, we beat them as well. So when we beat the Number 2 defense in the NFL, that wasn't a tough defense? You have no idea what crap comes out of your own mouth do you?

I'm sorry, but the 2007 Patriots are not only the best team in the NFL, they are the best team of all time. Hands down. They shatter records every time they play a game for christ's sake. Brady is on pace to throw 60+ TDs and for over 4000 yards. Steelers don't stand a chance.

And thats the last I'm replying to you. Because I know you're wrong, everyone else here knows you're wrong, and you're pretty much just going to keep arguing moot points that no one will care about or listen to.

So please, don't reply. Because I could care less about what your opinion is.

And where did I say that you had faced the Colts? I didn't. I said you hadn't beaten the Colts. You haven't, have you? So that would be a fact, would it not?
It is very hard to beat a team that you haven't played this year.

That doesn't matter, any team that is in first place in their respective division and you defeat them is a solid win. They have the forth best record in the NFC and if the playoffs started they'd be a three seed. That is a solid win against an elite nfc team.
They're team is PATHETIC the only wins they have this year are against mediocre teams at best. So hardly an "elite" team at 6-4 and absolutely zero running game whatsoever.
^^^^^

Wow you just continue to prove yourself a fucking jackass. When has Peyton Manning EVER blamed a loss on someone?
DId you see his interview in 05? Probably not, He said, his o-line played bad, blamed his receivers for not catching the ball, and blamed his defense.
When has he EVER pointed fingers? Further more, when has Brady? Never. Ever. And he wouldn't, ya want to know why? Because if he did, he'd get bitch slapped by Belichick in 10 seconds flat. You really know jackshit about the Patriots and Brady.
I say that same thing about you and the Steelers

And this proves what? If Chad Johnson says its true, it must be! This coming from the guy who has touchdown dances planned weeks in advance and wears a "Future HOFer" coat? That guys judgment must be real sound, he's not an egotistical jackass at all.
His ego has nothing to do about his play, he is still one of the best in the game. You have a receiver who said he only plays when he wants.

Yeah, basically the same that comes out of yours. The Cowboys have a horrible secondary, they are only good against the rush, and the colts will be nothing without Freeney.

I'm sorry, but the 2007 Patriots are not only the best team in the NFL, they are the best team of all time. Hands down.
Lawlz, the 72 dolphins, any of the superbowl teams of the 49'ers in the 80's, any of the Steelers teams in the 70's with their nine Hof'ers and HOF coach.
They shatter records every time they play a game for christ's sake. Brady is on pace to throw 60+ TDs and for over 4000 yards. Steelers don't stand a chance.
Yeah, that is also the same team that didn't stand a chance against the Bengals, Colts, Bronco's and even against the Seahawks in that matter.

And thats the last I'm replying to you. Because I know you're wrong, everyone else here knows you're wrong, and you're pretty much just going to keep arguing moot points that no one will care about or listen to.

So please, don't reply. Because I could care less about what your opinion is.
Yeah, because you are such a threat too me. I cou;d honestly care less about what you have too say, when you praise a team that knows is beatable, and praise how great they are when their season isn't even over with.

You guys fight too much about something wont even be an issue until December 9th....looking ahead is something that can only hurt you...this weekend has some big games on tap...Arizona, Washington and Philadelphia all have life suddenly since Detroit has lost 3 in a row (and they all own tiebreakers with detroit). New England has the Eagles this weekend and Pittsburgh plays the winless Dolphins on Monday Night.

Im leaning more towards New England in that game (sorry Brian) I wanted to pick the Steelers but the Patriots are kicking everyone's ass and I cannot afford to lose ground in my pool that I run with my friends (I fell to second place today for the first time this whole season) The only team really dragging me down are my Niners but I have somehow managed to keep first place despite that.

The Seahawks are a good team Xfear...I mean yeah they play in the NFC Worst but they have been in the playoffs several years in a row and dont appear to be slowing down. Matt Hassleback is at worst a B rated quarterback...Shaun Alexander has slowed down definately as injuries do that...it is not a good year for running backs...just ask Frank Gore, Adiran Peterson, Stephen Jackson and your own Mahoney. It is truly the year of the Quarterback (Mr. Farve, Romo, Manning, Brady and Big Ben)....

As for next week's NFC Title game...who do you guys think will win? Packers (10-1) vs Cowboys (10-1) from texas stadium...Im leaning towards Green Bay because they are only 3 points removed from being 11-0 while Dallas got their asses kicked by the Pats....I dunno what do you think?

I'm very shocked that I'm the first one on here people! Come on! Show your NFL love!

Needless to say last night was a very tense night for me. The Eagles almost pulled the upset of all time, but couldn't do it. Because thats what really great teams do: they find a way to win. Obviously I was shocked by how attacking the Eagles came out, and they really did give us a run for our money. Brady had another fantastic game, though only 1 TD pass, the only time he has thrown less then 3 in a game this season. No turnovers though, and over 300 yards throwing and a completion percentage in the high 60s, a very good and efficient day for him. Can't say the same about alot of other players on our team last night. Our defense was playing real haggardly, except for Asante Samuel.

I can guarantee you though that Belichick is going to be screaming at those guys and making them practice day and night from now on. He demands perfection, and if the Pats don't give it to him, he's not afraid to sit guys because of lack of effort.

Still, after this test, I still have absolutely no problem in saying the Pats will run the table and go undefeated this year, no doubt about it. The one real mistake we made in the Eagles game was that our defense paid too much attention to Brian Westbrook. Granted, Westbrook is an amazing player, but we just kept getting fooled by the play-action pass from Feely. We were expecting Westbrook to be the main guy for them and it ended up being Feeley. I doubt we'll make that same mistake twice.

As for the other games, meh. I'm pretty surprised that the Raiders beat the Chiefs, just when I thought the Chiefs might make something of themselves. The Browns win again and are 7-4! Who would of believed that? They're only one game behind the Steelers!

Tonights game between Pittsburgh and Miami---Pittsburgh has got this one. I wish Miami would get one freakin win here tonight and maybe get a moral victory out of this season, but I just don't see it panning out. Be on the look out for Ricky Williams return though people! That I must say I am excited for...

Needless to say last night was a very tense night for me. The Eagles almost pulled the upset of all time, but couldn't do it.

Seriously, I don't think the Eagles ever had as big of a shot as they even showed to have. I think New England has gotten so bored with winning, that they're now trying to come close to losing, to give every other team a glimmer of hope.. only to grab it away from them in the end.

As for the other games, meh. I'm pretty surprised that the Raiders beat the Chiefs, just when I thought the Chiefs might make something of themselves. The Browns win again and are 7-4! Who would of believed that? They're only one game behind the Steelers!

I'm more in shock that Minnesota has developed a passing game, & is now firmly in control of taking the Wildcard spot over Detroit, or the New York Giants. I seriously WANT Cleveland to win a Wildcard spot, but even if they do.. I doubt they'd advance. If they faced off against the AFC West winner, they'd win.. any other team, they'd likely lose.

Finally, the Raiders are helping Carolina solitify a top 5 draft pick. If anyone has seem ANY Carolina highlights, or games lately.. we're unofficially now blatantly giving up games. We just randomly blow them, then quit.

As am "I" excited to see the return of Ricky Williams, but against Pittsburgh's run defense?! I hardly think it'll be an impressive return outing.

I'd honestly like to see Pittsburgh lose, just to help Cleveland that much more though.

Has anyone been checking out the ESPN-News channel?? Sean Taylor was shot at some point last night, early this morning & "quote" his life is hanging in the balance. "end quote"

Wow, I hope he doesn't die, but honestly.. how many NFL players have been critically shot & ever returned to be the same. This is a shame, as he wasn't that old I don't believe & his NFL career was a great one. I certainly hope he doesn't die, but its a shame it seems the NFL lost a great Safety.

They're reporting that he is in critical condition after being shot and has lost a lot of blood, he could possibly die. Taylor is a promising young safety who was a pro-bowler last year and is having a decent year this year. Unfortunatley he is another NFL player with legal issues, and investigators dont feel thst thid stems from an off field problem. This is yet another tragedy for the NFL. We all just hope that he pulls through.

MIAMI -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died early Tuesday, a day after the Pro Bowl player was shot at home by what police say was an intruder. He was 24.

Family friend Richard Sharpstein said Taylor's father told him the news around 5:30 a.m.

"His father called and said he was with Christ and he cried and thanked me," said Sharpstein, Taylor's former lawyer. "It's a tremendously sad and unnecessary event. He was a wonderful, humble, talented young man, and had a huge life in front of him. Obviously God had other plans."

Taylor died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he had been airlifted after the shooting early Monday, Sharpstein said.

Two carloads of mourners, including the athlete's father, arrived at the house Tuesday morning. They remained inside and did not speak to reporters. A single bouquet of flowers was left by a palm tree just outside a front gate. Beside the mailbox, an untouched newspaper lay with news of Taylor's shooting.

Doctors had been encouraged late Monday when Taylor squeezed a nurse's hand, according to Vinny Cerrato, the Redskins' vice president of football operations. But Sharpstein said he was told Taylor never regained consciousness after being transported to the hospital and that he wasn't sure how he had squeezed the nurse's hand.

"Maybe he was trying to say goodbye or something," Sharpstein said.

Sean Taylor was tied for the NFC lead for interceptions with five and was known as one of the league's hardest-hitting defensive backs.

Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft following an All-American season at the University of Miami, was shot early Monday in the upper leg, damaging the key femoral artery and causing significant blood loss.

"According to a preliminary investigation, it appears that the victim was shot inside the home by an intruder," Miami-Dade County police said in a statement. "We do not have a subject description at this time."

But police were still investigating the attack, which came just eight days after an intruder was reported at Taylor's home. Officers were sent to the home about 1:45 a.m. Monday after Taylor's girlfriend called 911.

Sharpstein said Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor's 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in the house, but neither she nor Taylor's girlfriend were injured.

Police found signs of forced entry, but have not determined if they were caused Monday, or the previous burglary.

The shooting happened in the pale yellow house he bought two years ago. Eight days before the attack someone pried open a front window, rifled through drawers and left a kitchen knife on a bed at Taylor's home, according to police.

"They're really sifting through that incident and today's incident," Miami-Dade Detective Mario Rachid said, "to see if there's any correlation."

Taylor's death comes nearly a year after Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed in a drive-by shooting following an argument at a Denver nightclub on Jan. 1. University of Miami defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot to death in November 2006 several miles from Taylor's home in an unsolved killing.

Taylor starred as a running back and defensive back at Gulliver Prep in Miami. His father, Pedro Taylor, is police chief of Florida City.

A private man with a small inner circle, Taylor rarely granted interviews. But, behind the scenes, Taylor was described as personable and smart -- an emerging locker room leader.

"From the first day I met him, from then to now, it's just like night and day," Redskins receiver James Thrash said Monday. "He's really got his head on his shoulders and has been doing really well as far as just being a man. It's been awesome to see that growth."

After Taylor was drafted, problems soon began. Taylor fired his agent, then skipped part of the NFL's mandatory rookie symposium, drawing a $25,000 fine. Driving home late from a party during the season, he was pulled over and charged with drunken driving. The case was dismissed in court, but by then it had become a months-long distraction for the Redskins.

Taylor also was fined at least seven times for late hits, uniform violations and other infractions over his first three seasons, including a $17,000 penalty for spitting in the face of Tampa Bay running back Michael Pittman during a 2006 playoff game.

Meanwhile, Taylor endured a yearlong legal battle after he was accused in 2005 of brandishing a gun at a man during a fight over allegedly stolen all-terrain vehicles near Taylor's home. He eventually pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to 18 months' probation.

Taylor said the end of the assault case was like "a gray cloud" being lifted. It was also around the time that his daughter was born, and teammates noticed a change.

"It's hard to expect a man to grow up overnight," said teammate and close friend Clinton Portis, who played with Taylor at Miami. "But ever since he had his child, it was like a new Sean, and everybody around here knew it. He was always smiling, always happy, always talking about his child."

On the field, Taylor's play was often erratic. Assistant coach Gregg Williams frequently called Taylor the best athlete he'd ever coached, but nearly every big play was mitigated by a blown assignment. Taylor led the NFL in missed tackles in 2006 yet made the Pro Bowl because of his reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the league.

This year, however, Taylor was allowed to play a true free safety position, using his speed and power to chase down passes and crush would-be receivers. His five interceptions tie for the league lead in the NFC, even though he missed the last two games because of a sprained knee.

"I just take this job very seriously," Taylor said in a rare group interview during training camp. "It's almost like, you play a kid's game for a king's ransom. And if you don't take it serious enough, eventually one day you're going to say, 'Oh, I could have done this, I could have done that.'

"So I just say, 'I'm healthy right now, I'm going into my fourth year, and why not do the best that I can?' And that's whatever it is, whether it's eating right or training myself right, whether it's studying harder, whatever I can do to better myself."

His hard work was well-noted.

"He loved football. He felt like that's what he was made to do," Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said. "And I think what I've noticed over the last year and a half ... is he matured. I think his baby had a huge impact on him. There was a real growing up in his life."

This is a huge tragedy. He had all the makings of a great player/future and had it robbed from him. It seems every year at least one team is marred by horrible tragedy. Its really a shame and my thoughts and prayers go out to his friens and family

I can honestly say I'm shocked he died from a leg wound. Thats a serious tragedy, & major loss. I barely knew him as a football player, but what little I did.. he had an amazing career. Short, but amazing.

He will be missed.

Sean Taylor was hit in some major something or 'nother in his leg. Whatever it did, he was contineuosly losing blood. And with all that blood loss, I believe that when they got him to the hospital the blood they gave him didn't take or was to late. I'm not sure.

Whats also surprising is supposedly the phone lines were cut, and the girlfriend saw nothing. In the end, I doubt they'll ever bring the killer to jail, and it's a shame. Sean was one of the Skin's best, and he will be missed.

Yes, Taylor had one of his major arteries shot in his leg, which caused the massive blood loss. I was really shocked by this, I mean you don't often hear of people dying from being shot in the leg, though it's obviously not uncommon.

Another tragedy in the sports world. And congress wants to investigate wrestling?

It was a horrible week for me! I went 5-9 with my thursday-sunday afternoon games.....the Niners lost to the Panthers and the Raiders won. I hate the Raiders. Next week is Steelers vs Patriots. I expect BrianBeckerisaGod vs X-Fear Round 5,230. Lets go guys. I am personally going to pick the Pats. Sorry Brian. I cannot risk my record by going for an upset against a team that has not lost any games yet.

Yeah a pretty uneventful day yesterday aside from the dedications to Sean Taylor. The Jags-Colts game however was a great game, I watched that afternoon game as my Pats don't play until tonight. Jags are a damn good team this year and I think you could compare David Garrard's effect on that team to Favre's on Green Bay's this year. Not comparing the QBs themselves, but no one really gave either Jacksonville or Green Bay a chance to do anything, and here they are fighting hard and with winning records to show for it.

Didn't watch much of the Steelers-Bengals game. Bengals continue to embarass themselves each week. So much talent, yet nothing. It's like the Yankees in the postseason (zing! :D).

Sorry bout your Niners Cool, but hey, Carolina needed to win ONE freakin home game this year, right?

Now onto tonight. Ravens-Pats. Should be a good game. For the Pats. Ravens have a good defense....but absolutely zero offense. Kyle Boller couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Ravens are gonna get killed by your Pats...I know the Niners suck this year but I would at least have liked to see them not throw the DAMN game away...I am gonna pick the Cardinals to lose their wildcard spot next week when the Hawks beat them up....

The Pats are going to go undefeated....someone told me today that the Giants would beat them...I was like R U KIDDING ME? THE F-IN GIANTS? they barely beat the bears and could not even beat the Cowboys...there is no way in God's Green Earth that they are gonna beat the Pats...and Miami is gonna go winless....THATS A FACT!.....playoffs look like this if all goes as planned.

AFC
1. Pats; as HHH would say, THAT DAMN GOOD.
2. Colts; Peyton is still a Quarterback King
3. Steelers: Big Ben will lead them to the 3rd spot.
4. Chargers: Best in the AFC Worst.
5. Jaguars: Like you said, good team. Will not get past the 1st round though.
6. Browns/Titans: One of these teams should make it. Browns and Titans both have bad habits.

NFC
1. Cowboys : TO is still the man.
2. Packers: Brett Farve will lead the Pack to bye.
3. Hawks: Hawks are still gunning for NFC Title as much as I hate to say it.
4. Bucs: The best in the South is who we never saw cooming.
5. Vikings: The Vikes are hot and will win all their remaining games (except against my Niners)
6. Giants

Lions suck, Saints suck, THATS A FACT!

The Steelers-Pats game looks great today. But I'm not as worried as I thought I would be. Thats because I took a look at the Steelers schedule thus far.

They are 9-3. Of their 9 wins, they have only beaten two teams with a record over .500, the Browns & the Seahawks. Thats it. Of their 3 losses, they've lost to the 6-6 Cardinals, the 5-7 Broncos, and the 3-9 Jets. They're opponents this year have a combined win-loss record of 46-74.

The Patriots on the other hand have beaten the two best teams in the NFL (besides themselves of course) in Dallas & Indianapolis, and they blew out Dallas who has the 2nd best record in the NFL behind the Pats.

I just get the feeling today isn't going to be as close as everyone is thinking it will be.

Oh and I hate to say it to ya Cool......but I really hope the 49ers keep losing and losing. Not because I don't like them....but because the Pats have a hold on their 1st Round pick in the next Draft...:D And right now it's looking to be a top 5 pick, maybe even number 2 behind Miami.

See IMO i believe you looked at their losses the wrong way, yes they are losses but two out of the three came after bye weeks which gave them a lot of time too study and look at their game film.

Ok but the Steelers have every thing they need too defeat the Pats, a quick defense, one that is gonna hot you hard, and pressure you at the line of scrimmage, the same thing both the Eagles and the Ravens did, the Steelers have a good Run game, a better one with a healthy Davenport, Holmes will create match up problems, and the same goes for Heath Miller, and the Steelers know how too close out a game for the most part

Now the other games don't look too good, the Monday night game seems like a bore, and the only other game that would grab someones attention is SD vs Tenn, but that game would have been a lot better if it was last year.

Brian, I know you love Pittsburgh, & the current score is actually 13-17, New England.. so its a close game, but in my opinion.. New England never came close to dropping those games to either the Eagles, or Ravens. New England is toying with them, & I don't see Pittsburgh beating, or remotely coming close to actually beating New England.

Now, its not to say they won't.. but to say Pittsburgh will imploy the same method of play that both PHI & BAL did, is to ultimately say they'll come up short. Which in football, I don't care if the final score is 24-23, the only thing that matters is who wins & who loses.

To be honest.. New England SHOULD have lost to Baltimore had it not been for that weird ass drive to end the game, including how many redo's on 4th down, before NE finally got the 1st?! So yeah, they should've lost.. but didn't. And I think NE will treat Pittsburgh a lot better through thinking they're more of a challenge, then they did with Baltimore or Philly.. still, I don't see NE losing..

Holmes is coming off an injury, so he isn't exactly 100%. Hines Ward isn't the world's greatest WR, & Parker has shown issues against running on the Jets earlier this year.

Well the Niners did u a favor by playing like crap again...but what u gonna do u know? I still got the Ducks and the Lakers....(not bad for a stanley cup champions and 3 times nba champs in the last decade)...but the Niners have probably one winnable game on their schedule (vs bengals)....but yeah if it werent for the Dolphins we would have been 1st in the draft....o well...They wont stay down for long.....someone is gonna get fired! Mark my words! Someone is gonna pay for the Niners dissapointing season! I say dissapointing because we were EXPECTED TO make the playoffs this year or at least go 8-8...if the Niners had better management and coaching...we would be a muchh better team...mangement has gotten rid of Jeff Garcia, Terrell Owens, Steve Marriuchi and never really were prepared for Steve Young or Jerry Rice to leave and thats why things have been bad for the last 5 years!

I feel bad for BrianBecker because now XFEAR is gonna gloat his head off...the Steelers got their asses kicked today by the Pats and u only have Anthony Smith to blame for that....NEVER EVER GUARANTEE A WIN! expecially against the best team in the league! That is the single dumbest thing a person could do...if he didnt do it...maybe the Pats would have been as lazy as the last 3 weeks but noooo! They were pissed off! They came out and they killed the Steelers! Learn a lesson NFL, dont piss off the Pats! If you want to beat the Pats, just shut your mouth and go out an play! That is the only way ur gonna win anything!
