After watching the Colts/Patriots game, I'm actually convinced that had Marvin Harrison been on the field, the Colts would've won. The first half was the Joseph Addai show, & the Pats couldn't defend it.
That alone proves that assuming these two meet again, in the playoffs, they'll be more prone to wanting to defend the run.. but this time, with Harrison & Wayne (assumably healthy) as well as Clark.. Manning will tear them apart.
Furthermore, I give New England all the credit in the world, they deserve their 9 victories because they've earned them. They fought hard & won, convincingly everytime. So don't take this as me not considering them to be great.. this is just me, seeing them being "human."
Honestly, it pisses me off more that the "N.F.L." has become the "New-England Football League" more than the original term. Its a 32 team sport, just because one team is dominate, doesn't make them the ONLY team playing.
I'll give examples.
Cleveland Browns: This team reminds me of the Carolina Panther's 2003, cinderella team. They keep coming from behind & winning. They won't die, they won't go away, & they're closing in on the division. Granted, until the BEAT the Steelers, they won't be anything worthy.. but I CAN see it happening. However, due to the Pats success.. noone else does.
Minnesota Vikings: Does anyone else realize just how great & unstoppable this team would be, if they simply had a better QB & WR set? Peterson has proven to be next to unstoppable, even against run stopping teams & 8 men in the box! The defense is holding strong, & winning them games. I honestly believe, if they keep their team the way it is.. add a better QB & at least 2 'known/decent' WRs in the offseason, you'll looking at a possible Superbowl contender for next season.
Other teams that're doing pretty good, but getting completely over looked are teams like.. Detriot Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, (even though they looked remotely bad in their victory over Carolina) New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Bucs, & even the New Orleans Saints are coming back.
So while I understand when we look at the Superbowl in Feb.. its highly likely to be either the Colts, or the Pats.. the fact is, there are 30 more teams that have a great shot, with at least ONE of those teams being on the opposite side of the Superbowl field.
