And yeah, Charizard was the shit. But actually not the rarest. I believe Alakazam was the rarest of the original set. You can tell because (and I don't even remember how I learned this) the numbers in the corner not only indicate their number in the set, but how rare they were. Alakazam was no.1 in the original set, therefore that was the rarest one. I think Charizard was actually only number four, behind Alakazam, Chansey, and Mewtwo.

The numbers were Alphabetical order. Thats why Alakazam was #1, followed by Blastoise, not Mewtwo, then Chancey, and then Charizard. Alphabetical, not Rare. Blastoise is the only holofoil card in the first group that I personally never owned at one point or another.

I mean, it was wayyyy less complicated. Pokemon with all those energy cards and shit. What did they even do? Yu-Gi-Oh, you stuck a monster out, blasted you opponent, sacrificed for a bigger monster, blasted your opponent even harder and won. Simple as.
