WWE Wrestlemania XXVII Live Discussion

There were good matches, but wacky booking. I don't understand why they've deflated Del Rio so badly since he won the fucking Royal Rumble, and shit like that is the reason why I took a break from watching/following for awhile.

Also, that was the perfect finish to Cole/Lawler's feud, and they went ahead and reopened it with that bullshit.

Look I'm terribly sorry, but Cena won't even be a good wrestler. Even in the same respect as how Hulk Hogan's routine made him seem like a good wrestler. If Cena hasn't got it by now he never will and in the ring he just hasn't got IT.

Yeah to bad your wrong, Cena has had IT for years, he wouldn't be the top guy if he didin't

And now there's now way in hell Rock won't ultimately have a match and put Cena over.

Hopefully they hold off till next years WM, I think we're gonna see a long Cena/Miz feud for now

Hey we're back again.

Yeah, wtf is going on?, I mean you'd think they'd get the site prepared to handle all the extra traffic BEFORE the biggest of the wrestling year happens, instead of having the site crash repeatedly through the night

Wasn't the greatest Wrestlemania of all time, but was pretty good. Definantly didn't like Cena/Miz. They had such an awesome intro and entrances, but the ending was a little odd for me. I was very happy that Miz retained though. Sure got beaten down after by The Rock, but I expected Wrestlemania to end wih Rocky standing tall so I'm no where near as upset as some people are.

Match of the night would probably have to go to Orton/Punk or Rey/Rhodes, but I'm going with Orton/Punk. HHH/Undertaker had an awesome start, but the five minute recoveries between each move really killed the momentum for me.

I feel bad for Edge though. World champion going on first just sucks big time.

I don't think Edge cares. He didn't job in a title match at WM for once, he got a WM payday, and he put on a great opener with Del Rio. Kicking the show off on a good note is a huge responsibility as well.

If anything, I feel bad for Del Rio. He's going to be stuck in midcard purgatory.

Very disappointing given the expectations, but I can't believe people are calling this the "Worst Wrestlemania Ever"...that's beyond ridiculous, you young kids surely haven't seen some of the older 'Manias then because we sure as shit didn't get 30 minute No Holds Barred mntches or fun high-flying Rhodes vs. Mysterio kind of action back during the days of Wrestlemania 9 and shit.

Weird, disappointing show. But at the same time, still good and I still enjoyed watching all of it and had a great time tonight. I'll give it another full viewing tomorrow and spruce up my review afterwards, but as it stands, a good Wrestlemania, but that just doesn't cut it when everyone was expecting a GREAT Wrestlemania.

I'd say Wrestlemania underachieved given the amount of hype and standards it had.

You can make the argument I'm disappointing myself I guess, but I was turned off by the Wrestlemania ending. Mainly because of how predictable it was and unnatural it felt. Just like the reports were indicating at wz.com, Wrestlemania card truly felt jumbled up, rushed, and lacking in natural flow. Combine that with the forums going down, it truly was an unusual night. Can't say I'm surprised though, its not like they could have really done much things overly different. Looking forward to RAW tomorrow

Question - Why is everyone saying things like "disappointing considering the high expecations?" Why exactly did this show have high expecations in the first place? I'd say the quality perfectly reflects the expecations - mediocre.

I liked the show, my only real complaint is Sheamus/Bryan being made a dark match, would've made more sense to do that with the worthless 8 man tag that no one gave a shit about, but oh well, still a good show

Surprised's nobodys talking about the ending of HHH/Taker yet. I think Taker might've suffered a serious concussion tho. Fucks sake, can the WWE get a freaking break? The one time they allow a chair shot to the head and the guy gets a concussion, LOL!

Oh seriously dude, stick your fist down your mouth and shut up. Both are the same shit. We just saw a non-wrestler burry the two top stars of WWE in the main event of Wrestlemania. Unless he comes back to wrestle full-time just what the fuck is the payoff of seeing Cena and Miz beaten here?
No, you don't get what I'm saying. What I said was that TNA would have ended the show with the double countout (a cheap shit finish), like they've done numerous times. WWE ends the show with one man pinning the other.

And to call The Rock a "Non Wrestler" is bullshit. The proper term is LEGEND.

I have practically no doubt in my mind now that The Rock will wrestle John Cena. I also think it'll be at WrestleMania. However, I also think that Rock will wrestle MIZ at Summerslam. Rock will beat Miz, and lose to Cena, with the end result being Rock and Cena shaking hands, Rock raising his arm in victory, whatever.

They wouldn't put Rock over people without Rock committing to a match. Contrary to popular belief, Vince McMahon is smarter then that. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they announce the eventual match tomorrow (not the match happening tomorrow, but announce that it will eventually happen).

Although, I don't know if Rock Cena would be good for Mania, because Cena is all that Taker has left, and next year will almost undoubtedly be Takers last Mania.

In the mid-card or upper-mid-card, yes. Main event? No. Seriously, dude. You just reek of blind behavior.

So I could have Jim Duggan come down and beat up Miz and Cena and it's OK because he's a "LEGEND"? Legend or not, he's still inactive.

That is way too fucking long. What's gonna happen in the 5 months before that? All out there in the dark? The same thing over and over again on every PPV? Well?

Coming in 5 months! Miz vs The Rock! Coming in 12 months. Cena vs The Rock!

Ah, look. Dilemmas are already surfacing.

I was disappointed with JR and his calling of Wrestlemania. He only added more fuel to fire in regards to the unusual feel Wrestlemania had. JR, personally to me, didn't sound as fluid as he usually does calling matches, which is to be expected with his situation obviously.

It's really hard imagining a Rock-Cena match at next year's Wrestlemania. While I understand a match of that capacity has to happen at Wrestlemania, can they reallyyy drag this feud into next April? Not that it's impossible but I can't see it. I think whatever the Rock read on the anonymous GM computer thing might foreshadow something about his future and the WWE could delay this Cena/Rock feud for later in the year while Vince does something to screw the Rock or whatever. So yes, I think what we witnessed at the end of Wrestlemania was the WWE's definition of a "Wrestlemania moment" and the Rock will not be involved in a wrestling match anytime soon.

Here's my mini review.

Edge vs Alberto Del Rio- Solid match with the right man winning. In no way is Alberto ready to hold the belt and pulling the trigger on him at the Rumble was a mistake in my opinion. Edge also finally gets his successful title match at Mania, so as an Edge mark I was happy. Not to thrilled with it going on first though.

Cody Rhodes vs Rey Mysterio- Awesome match with superb story telling and a huge rub for Cody. His character is just flat out working and a star is blooming here. Kudos to Rey for doing the job.

The Corre vs The Big Show, Kane, Santino, & Kofi- A quick squash to blow off some needless feuds. What everyone fails to realize is that heel factions always lose when the odds are even. They need the numbers to be successful, it's Booking 101. Nothing special though, but that Knockout Punch to end it looked sick as fuck.

Randy Orton vs CM Punk- Awesome match between 2 guys who seem to have a bit of chemistry. Very superb limb psychology and Orton sold it well.

Jerry Lawler vs Michael Cole- Went a bit too long in my opinion and the finish was kind of screwy, but it did what it was supposed to. Really hoping Cole is revealed as the GM soon.

Triple H vs Undertaker- Solid, dare I say, amazing match here. Fantastic story telling as Triple H pulled out everything he could possibly have but the aura of Taker at Wrestlemania was just too much. I thought several times that Hunter was going to do it, but Taker pulled through. Amazing.

Team Snooki vs Ziggler & Laycool- Nothing match here just for a breather between main events. However, Snooki proved to me that she is just as good as any of the other no talent Divas so I give it a thumbs up on that alone.

John Cena vs The Miz- I like the outcome as now we're pretty much guaranteed a showdown with Rock and Cena and most of all, Miz left as champion. However, the execution was pretty meh. Mediocre wrestling with a screwy finish, but it still worked.

Overall- Solid B+ for me. I got exactly what I wanted from this for the most part. Instead of over analyzing every little thing, I was able to suspend my disbelief and just enjoy the show, which was quite enjoyable.

I'm kind of disappointed. There were good matches and overall it was a decent PPV, if it was any PPV other than Mania, I'd be ok. But it was fucking Wrestle Mania. I feel like some of the matches were Raw or Smackdown! main event quality, not Wrestle Mania quality. I don't know kind of pissed I spent $60 on it, should have just watched a stream.

Enjoyable show. Not perfect by any means, and I'm upset about the Sheamus/Bryan match getting bumped and fucked up, especially after they shot a video for WWE.com with Bryan talking about how he always wanted to be in a Wrestlemania. I also think the Lawler/Cole match should have just been Lawler punching Cole in the face for seven minutes before piledriving him and giving us the feelgood moment we wanted, but other than that I had fun.

However, I'm not sure if "fun" was good enough, not for Wrestlemania. The entrances and costumes were all awesome, though. And I was quite impressed with Snooki's handspring. She's better than Eve!

Poor Josh Mathews. :(
