PPV Poster Comptition: WrestleMania XXVII

Yes, ladies and gentleman, this is the PPV Poster Competition: WrestleMania XXVII edition. Except it's not really a competition. More of a gathering. Of graphics makers. Posting their own works. Without a vote to decide a winner. Yeah...

Anyway, this has been done two or three times before and it's always been good fun. Considering the talent there is in this section at the moment, I'm looking foward to seeing what everyone has to offer. There aren't many rules, just no plagarism and give a non-spam post to go with your poster. I'd recommend the size to be 400 x 500 pixels, but I'm not fussed if you want to deviate from that.

With that said, let's see what people come up with.

As soon as I saw that we were doing WM XXVII posters I had the image in my freakin' head. The Rock with his hand raised in the middle, coming out of the WM XXVII Logo at the bottom, with three of the biggest Raw superstars on one side and three of the biggest Smackdown superstars on the other. Honestly, my biggest struggle with this poster was trying to figure out who I was going to use on the Smackdown side because they have such little "star power" these days. I chose to have Taker/HHH in the fore front because if I understand correctly they are going to be the main event in a Career v Streak match with HBK as the special guest ref - just what I've heard. Plus, HHH is a Raw guy and Taker is a Smackdown guy so it actually worked pretty perfectly. The background is basically just a bunch of brushing; lots of grungy and sparkle brushes with blue (getting darker as it gets closer to Rock and the Logo) and a plain white background. I followed the KISS methodology on this one, but I think it turned out great.

WrestleMania 27

So I gathered the required wrestler pics, color-fixed them with layers and layer modes, saturation and whatnot. Then I added the brushed-on abstract "fireworks" stuff behind the Georgia Dome and added a crowd of people at the top, smacked on the WrestleMania logo with no alterations and called it a day. Oh, and a fade from blueish to black to accentuate the bottom of the poster. Border is 2px black.

Of course I had to make an alternative version, too:

Thought I might as well give it a shot. I'm always trying to branch out from sig making to other gfx. I think I'll make posters more frequently, it's good fun.

Mine isn't all that good. It's a blue BG with a cool stock and some brushes. Then pics of all the main eventers + The Rock. I figured I'd add the tagline as there wasn't any text on it.
I like Kayoh's best so far. But anyways, here's mine.

Filled it with photos from WrestleMania moments from [almost] all WrestleManias as well as a quote from the WrestleMania 26 opening video. I technically made the logo, instead of searching for a low-res version of this year's logo, I traced it in Flash making it a vector image so I could make it as large as I need.

There's the WM Logo in great resolution - 778x368. That's the one I used in mine. Nice poster, though, I love the checker affect and the blur around the logo, really makes it pop.

I finally got round to doing one last night. I must admit, although it isn't plagiarised, it is influenced by several posters I've seen.

So I started with a black background and an image of a WWE set with the rigging and stuff. I then put in the 'Mania logo and renders of Triple H and The Undertaker (which will almost certainly be the main event) as the focal points of the poster - the stuff that I will work around. Fiddled about with desaturating them and changing their brightness and contrast. Some grunge brushes helped to blend all the elements together. Then I added images of the Superstars from last year's WrestleMania and put them amidst the layers of brushing. For the text I simply used Arial. To make it look a bit more official I put in the text at the bottom with the WWEHD logo and the PGTV logo.

That's it really. No complicated methods on this one. Just simple stuff which I think works well together.

I got the inspiration for this from Mr.Kupy. I started with a black background and added a space stock on top of that. Under that I put in the Wrestlemania logo. I lowered the opacity on the space stock. I played around with the logo a bit, setting it to different modes. Then I put in the render of The Rock and put a drop shadow on it. I added the WWEHD logo, and added a small drop shadow to that. I burnt the space stock once and I was finished.
