Yes! The thread says it all!

Lets try to make this section of this forum happening by having a poster competition of all the talented sig-makers on this board.

You will have to create a Promotional Poster for WWE's pay per view which will take place in Washington DC: Capitol Punishment!

The prize....rep from me, and from other members who think the poster you have created looks awesome!

The size of the sig should be 500 x 400.

ENJOY! Good luck! and Polls will go up later! :)

As you can see I went with a very patriotic theme as it's in your nation's capitol. I started with a black BG and then did one brush with some big stars. I then pasted in the American flag and got it so it had red, white & blue stars. I also did this for the logo and text. I decided to put Randy Orton coming out of the biggest star. My inspiration was last year's Summerslam poster, but mine didn't work out as well.

Here is my entry, what I did was:
- Started off with a transparent canvas 500 x 400
- The colors that inspired me was the United States Flag colors due to it being in D.C
- I chose Rey to be on my poster because of the date 6.19 <----
- Behind Rey, I added some brush strokes ( Red, White, and Blue)
- Behind the strokes I added a layer of a render of the nation's capitol, and put on opacity 20% or so

For the text, I got inspired by Arlo's idea, and added the American flag behind the text, and cut it out so it can be in the same shape as the PPV Name logo.

Hope you guys like it.

OK then. I started off with an image of Capitol Hill at night, to which I did nothing. I put in Randy Orton, duplicated the image, desaturated it and then erased the original layer over the top save for the belt. The image didn't have a name on it so I wrote it over the belt. I smudged the image a few times and set these layers to various settings. I put in the logo and smudged a duplicate of it to give it a dusty look. I put in a texture which I spot erased, added my text and logo and then lightly brushed around the poster.

I thought I'd give some feedback for you guys. If you have the time to give some then that would be great. I've always felt that feedback makes people better.

I like the idea, but the execution is a bit off. Last years SummerSlam poster was fantastic so it's a good inspiration to have, to be honest.

It's too basic, really. I'd like to see more than just black and the US flag. Being safe is something I've always struggled with. I try to be a bit more daring with my work because as the saying goes, "you miss 100% of the shots you never take".

Look at the poster (http://www.wrestlingvalley.org/wp-content/uploads/7977/7977.jpg). They've used some splatter brushes, manipulated the images and used a variety of bold colours. But perhaps most importantly, they've used a texture. Textures are so important in giving graphics depth. They look subtle, but you will see a world of difference. So overall, I like the concept, but it could be better.

I really like this. It reminds me of a Great American Bash poster.

I like your use of C4Ds - something which I can never get right. The image is cool and a bit unorthodox as it comes from the side. Props on getting the date to look similar to the logo (if you italicised or distorted it, it might look even more similar). Your text and logos also look nice and official.

My only real criticism is the fact that you can see where the background image ends. If you just blended the colour into it, it would look a lot better. Overallt though, it looks great.

I agree with Seth!! It is good to have someone talk about our job...
I will rate the images in a scale from 1 to 10.

I know that you made a lot of awesome signatures Arlo, but i think that Poster was a lazy creation!
I like the idea of having the USA Flag colors, but i didn't have that "WOW" feeling!!
It's good and without fails, but it is not AWESOME!!

5/10 - Dont feel bad with me, i just think that you could have done a LOT better :) Keep working!!

I think that was the hardest one to do!!
I love it, but I think that having Rey Mysterio isn't that good, i get the idea because of the date being 6.19 but Rey Mysterio doesnt really mean American!!
I love the effects that you did with the flag behind Rey, really really awesome!
I also love the fact that looked official!

7.5/10 -It's probably a under rate, but I feel that Rey doesn't really fit to "Capitol Punishment"

That one is my favorite, i just love almost everything in that poster!
Randy Orton fits very well here and that "brown" just looks awesome...

I have one complain and one only, i didnt like the sentence in the end of the poster, i think it is repetitive... If they say that is only Live on Pay-Per-View, the last part dont make any sense!!

9/10 - Like i said my favorite and if WWE buys you the copyright of that image, I think that they will be very happy about that!

Overall you are all fantastic, you had great ideas and I hope that Diablo can teach me how he made his effects on the flag!! :D

P.S. When i get time, i will make one myself!
And i expect that you three came here to give your critics!
thank You!! :)

Thanks for the feedback guys, no matter how negative it is.

I agree with pretty much all of what you 2 said. I was trying to keep it in the mould of my sigs buy making it a bit blocky and chunky.

This was like my 3rd poster, so I think I'll keep getting better over time, like I did with my sigs. I'm constantly trying to branch out from sigs, but I admit that recently I've been lacking inspiration for it, and as you said Futureshock, I'm not sure I put 100% into this.

For the record, I like yours best Seth. You really have been running rampant over the arts section recently.
I like how you've blended the text and logo. I also like how you've gone the opposite way and not made it a mass of red, white and blue. There are a lot of subtle details in it.

I'm incredibly bored and since I can't seem to fall asleep I've been making posters for the upcoming PPV's for my Book This with #1Peep. I saw the thread here and decided to share the one I threw together for Capitol Punishment. If I can find the other threads I will share the other ones as well.

This one was pretty easy and rather simple, but I love the way in turned out. I first found a texture/stock of an American flag that had some effect to it. I happened to scroll across this one of google and felt it would be an excellent starting point. Next I added an old fashion paper texture on top and set that on multiply. I figured Cena would be the best bet here and I found a saluting render of him and used it. Next I got the logo for Capitol Punishment. I went with the other one, as I felt it fit the theme better than the generic one. I then added my text at the bottom and John Cena's name. Next step I added a photo filter using sepia and set the density all the way up. Finally I did a paint daubs effect and lower the opacity and that's that.

It's done! Seth is still the best one here, but I think i made also a good work!
I want to read your feedback guys...

First i made the background, a texture and the flag giving color to a dark poster.
I also liked the idea of putting sentences in the flag.
I used an image of the U.S.A. Capitol Destroyed and blend it and of course used "levels" to put it darker!

I chose CM Punk, just because after Orton he is the one that I could really make believable in that background, and I wanted to separate a little bit from Orton.

Capitol Punishment Logo with an adjust of the color to...
WWE Logo to look oficial :)

I want to hear your critics :)

Edit: It is my first WWE POSTER!! :D
