WWE: The Miami Sub-Regional

So you're saying that because people like Kane, he must have some in ring skill? People liked The Undertaker in the early 90's and he was having shit matches with everybody.

I think Kane has shown great psychology at times in the ring over the course of his career, he can play the monster role very well. In ring skill isn't just limited to moveset, and in Kane's cases, his best work came when his moveset mirrored his mindset.

his best work came when his moveset mirrored his mindset.

I don't know what to say to that. Other than I'm not voting for Kane. But I'll happily defend the corner of one Isaac Yankem D.D.S. It's a scarier gimmick. Not once have I ever seen a 7ft tall guy in a mask, so on a personal level I'm not afraid of him. But I see evil dentists every 6 to 8 months, and they're terrifying.

He's a mixture between Laurence Olivier in Marathon Man, and Dr. Gupta, my dental nurse.

I was the one person who had Justin Credible on my list. Poor guy.

He definitely could've won a match or two if he had landed in ECW, or even TNA, but he'll be thrown off his game in WWE. He's an OK wrestler, but he definitely made his name as a hardcore specialist.

All of that doesn't matter anyway. It doesn't matter where the match would take place, The Rock wins anyway. There's no move that Justin can hit to stand a chance. He won't even get close to hitting the spinout tombstone.

30. Evan "Air" Bourne
35. THE Brian Kendrick

Hmm :scratchchin:

Kendrick has certainly had a better career, but Bourne was definitely rising to stardom quickly before he got hurt. Kendrick will most likely win, but it'll probably be based on people just knowing more. And, seeing more of what he can do. Bourne is no slouch in the ring, and will put up a great fight, but I don't know if it'll be able to push him into the second round.

I may be voting Bourne, but there's still time to look up some more stuff before voting.

I'm looking most forward to the Bourne/Kendrick match- high pace and high flying. It's hard for me to decide who would win this match but as of right now I would favor Kendrick slightly over Bourne because of the Ezekiel factor.

So, I've done some light research on the guys I haven't heard of, and found a lot of interesting stuff on Frank Gotch.

First, he's from back in the early '00s. Doesn't get much more old school. He only ever lost 6 matches, and wrestled only in shoot matches. He was also the original heel. He paid off someone to make sure his opponent had an injury before a huge match, and he covered himself in oil so his opponent couldn't use a bearhug. He also wrestled in at least 2 matches that both went over 2 hours.

Imagine that for a second. You start RAW, and there's only one match for the whole show, and you join it in progress. I'm impressed. I doubt he'll beat Kane, but I may have to vote for him, based on being an originator, and for being the type of heel that wrestlers today wish they were.

I'm very much looking forward to the Kendrick vs. Bourne match up. I don't think there's a closer match up in this region, with two similar wrestlers. Bourne is more high impact, while Kendrick is more grounded than alot of cruiserweights but this match shall be good.

Kendrick's new gimmick and persona has really garnered him alot of fans, and showed he has crazy charisma and good mic skills. But then you have Bourne, who was very known in the indy's and has able to make a name of himself on ECW. He is a fan favorite and his high risk style is great. I think Bourne may have had the edge if it was in TNA but this is very evenly matched.

So will Kendrick's longer legacy in the WWE as a former 3 time tag champion get him over Bourne, or will Bournes style and high risk be able to get him over Kendrick? I'm predicting Kendrick but it's too close to call imo.

Meh! I couldnt really care less about Bourne vs Kendrick, one guy will dance around like a pratt (no problem with that by the way) while the other will mindlessly flip around. It will be slightly entertaining and instantly forgettable. That though is not the reason why I dont care.

The reason why I dont care is because whoever wins is irrelevant, because neither guy is getting by people like Kane, Mr Perfect, The Rock, Arn Anderson and Ron Simmons to name the few that I can think of off the top of my head. So it's really impossible for me to get into this one, although if I had to pick a winner it'd be Kendrick based on his career thus far.

This is where to discuss the sub-regional headlined by the Rock.

The First Three Rounds Take Place In: Miami, FL
3. The Rock
62. Justin Credible

30. Evan "Air" Bourne
35. THE Brian Kendrick

14. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson
51. Tatsumi Fujinami

19. Ron Simmons
46. Bad News Brown

6. "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig
59. "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff

27. Rick "The Model" Martel
38. Bubba Ray Dudley

11. "The Big Red Machine" Kane
54. Frank Gotch

22. Nick Bockwinkle
43. Shane "Shane O'Mac" McMahon

Hmmm. Well we'll start with the round one matches. The Rock should have no problem in taking out Justin Montoya. The portugese man o war was one of the worst wrestlers in any gimmick in any company. He was jsut awful. Borne vs. Kendrick is an interesting match of high flyers, and regardless of the winner, that person gets destroyed by the Rock. The Rock gets a great draw in the first two rounds as he should probably win his matches comfortably.

Anderson vs. Fujinami and Simmons vs. Bad News Brown could be interesting matchups. Anderson vs. Fujinami could very well be a fist fight, or a mat classic, while Simmons vs. Brown is going to be nothing but a ffist fight. I suspect we'll see Anderson vs. Simmons, and I suspect that Anderson is going to go over Faarooq.

Mr. Perfect gets a tough matchup in round one against the Russian Nightmare. If it were anyone else, Koloff goes over, but Hennig is just too damn good to lose in round 1. He'll in all likely hood face off against Martel, setting up a fantastic match that would be great. In the end, Hennig will get to round 3.

Frank Gotch, interesting case of pioneer era wrestler matched up with an uber popular wrestler of today. I just find it hard that anyone will vote for Gotch, or enoughw ill vote to get him past Kane. Bockwinkle should go over Shane O Mac with no troubles, provided people do their research. Kane vs. Bockwinkle will be an interesting matchup, and there is a strong possibility Bockwinkle moves on.

So Round 3 looks to be the Rock vs. Arn Anderson. I think Arn will get a strong, strong showing in this match, but I'm not sure if it'll be enough to get the Rock out of this tournament. Mr. P erfect should go over Bockwinkle or Kane in round 3 with relative ease, setting up a Rock vs. Perfect match in round 4.

This is where to discuss the sub-regional headlined by the Rock.

The First Three Rounds Take Place In: Miami, FL
3. The Rock
62. Justin Credible

30. Evan "Air" Bourne
35. THE Brian Kendrick

14. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson
51. Tatsumi Fujinami

19. Ron Simmons
46. Bad News Brown

6. "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig
59. "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff

27. Rick "The Model" Martel
38. Bubba Ray Dudley

11. "The Big Red Machine" Kane
54. Frank Gotch

22. Nick Bockwinkle
43. Shane "Shane O'Mac" McMahon

The Rock vs Justin Credible? Are you kidding me? Not even in ECW. Ok maybe. But honestly Rock wins in a landslide.

Evan Bourne vs Brian Kendrick is a very intriguing matchup to me. It also means Rock will definetly be advancing to the third round. I'll take Bourne over Kendrick because Kendrick will always be a tag team only wrestler for me.

Arn Anderson vs Tatsumi Fujinami.Tatsumi is a seven time world champion. His speed would be too much for Anderson to overcome. I'll take tatsumi here.

Ron Simmons vs Bad News Brown. Both men were legit badasses. But Simmons was the first ever african american world champion. He was more mentally tough. I'd take Simmons in a fight hands down. He was part of a pair of hired bodyguards(apa) enough said.

Hennig's wrestling ability would make him impossible for Koloff to defeat. Perfect is very underrated and I see him advancing past the Russian nightmare here.

I'd take Bubba Dudley over Martel just because I can't see the Model getting a man as huge as Bubba up for an airplane spin or being able to make him submit to the boston crab. Dudley overpowers the smaller man for the win here.

Gotch would get manhandled by the Big Red Machine. This is about who would win in a real fight. Kane may be the favorite to win the whole thing then. Kane destroys Gotch.

Shane O'Mac is crazy enough to do anything to Bockwinkle. Which is why I see him advancing to the second round.

3. The Rock
62. Justin Credible

The Rock it seems has a huge advantage here. Justin would neat about 8 more guys to come to his rescue to move him passed The Rock here.

30. Evan "Air" Bourne
35. THE Brian Kendrick

Two impressive talents in the fight here. Similar styles and this is one of the matches I am going to have a tough time calling. Off the bat, I give it to Kendrick, his title reign was huge.

14. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson
51. Tatsumi Fujinami

Arn Anderson gets the advantage here, on strength and name value. However I am looking to learn a bit more on Fujinami to see if there is a fair fight to be had here.

19. Ron Simmons
46. Bad News Brown

Black Attitude is what is represented in there. Both men are strong advocates for African American rights, and both men will destroy eachother in this cause. Bad News has the Judo, but Simmons should go over.

6. "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig
59. "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff

Mr. Perfect is one of the first people I expect to do well here have a challenge. I suspect he will go over, but only at about 60-40 odds. Koloff is good, but Mr. Perfect may just be perfect.

27. Rick "The Model" Martel
38. Bubba Ray Dudley

In a singles match, Martel here. Bubba was successful as team, and despite his pute power, I suspect him to fall to The Model.

11. "The Big Red Machine" Kane
54. Frank Gotch

Kane. Easy. Gotch has little chance here from what I know of him. But Kane goes over with ease, he has a lot of support.

22. Nick Bockwinkle
43. Shane "Shane O'Mac" McMahon

Haha, Well I love Shane McMahon, but he is going to need to do something drastic to go over the Hall of Famer Nick here.

Round 1 Results:

The Rock vs. Justin Credible: 49-0. Not one comedy vote for Aldo Montoya, that speaks to the amount of his suckitude.

Evan Bourne vs. The Brian Kendrick: 34-26. There's really not too much to say about this match. I'm kinda surprised with the outcome, but on paper both men were pretty evenly matched.

Arn Anderson vs. Tatsumi Fujinami: 20-12. While based on our numbers it wasn't an upset, but I'm calling this match an upset win for Double A.

Ron Simmons vs. Bad News Brown: 19-4. Bowling shoe ugly, that's all that needs to describe this match of black and black violence.

Curt Hennig vs. Nikita Koloff: 22-4. Mr. Perfect has no problem with the big Minnesotan Russian guy.

Rick Martel vs. Bubba Dudley: 25-9. The model has no problem using his arrogance to send Bubba the Love Sponge back to Dudleyville.

Kane vs. Frank Gotch: 33-11. Kane wins, but really, there was no way to really judge this match fairly.

Nick Bockwinkle vs. Shane McMahon: 23-14. Thankfully, no McMahons move onto round 2.

Round 2 Matches:

Great match right there, I'd have loved to have seen it. Perfect will win, I don't think it'll be as even as it should be. I'll be voting Martel. I haven't thought of any bullshit reasons yet. Maybe I'll point out that Martel helped HBK & Y2J while Curt Henning simply lost to Bret Hart.

Martel was a better AWA Champ.

Also, putting Arrogance in a container, is better than catching your spit with your towel...

The Rock vs. Evan Bourne: I think Air Bourne is an IWC darling, and apparantely it's cool to hate on the Rock once again. I wouldn't be surprised to see this closer then what it would actually be, but the Rock should move on easily.

Arn Anderson vs. Ron Simmons: Good match up. You have a brawler that has technique, vs. a brawler that uses Power. I would say that this matchup is a push at this point, but suspect Arn will get his love and move on.

Curt Hennig vs. Rick Martel: Honestly, a great dream matchup here. Both guys were phenomenal, and both guys were rock solid in the ring.

Kane vs. Nick Bockwinkle. This is a tough match,a nd an even tougher one for Bockwinkle to win. The AWA legend should move on in this match,b ut I really dobut that he can get to the next round with Kane in his way.

Some pretty interesting matches here.

Bourne hasn't really proven himself yet I'm afraid. He's a great athlete, no doubt about that, but he can't even handle Mysterio. Everytime he faces him, he loses. Rock will hand him his ass in less than 5 minutes. I'm not particularly a fan of the Rock, but Bourne's like 5 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds. He might be a little had to get hold of and might nail a few flashy moves, but one Rock Bottom ends this.

Anderson and Simmons could be an interesting go. It really could go either way. I expect Anderson to get the votes to move on, though I wouldn't be overly surprised if Simmons got some love.

Henning and Martel is another one that I think could go either way. Both guys were gold in the ring and Martel is someone that you never really hear about. He doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves for what he could do in the ring. A lot of WWE fans will mostly remember Rick Martel during his time as "The Model" unfortunately, which I think wil ultimately cost him in the end.

As for Kane and Bockwinkel, I don't really know. Kane has basically been turned into the WWE's biggest jobber. I can't remember the last time he won a one on one match so Nick's gotta real shot at moving on. In the end, however, I think Kane will ultimately get the votes because too many people aren't simply familiar with Bockinkel.

Round 2 Results

Rock vs. Bourne: 35-8. Surprised to see Bourne get 8 votes against the Rock. This match was a no contest as Bourne simply hasn't done enough yet in his short career.

Anderson vs. Simmons: 15-13. Just an ugly power match, but in the end, Double A takes down the former world champion.

Hennig vs. Martel: 28-3. Mr. Perfect moves on with relative ease as he takes care of the Model with no problem.

Kane vs. Nick: 37-6. The Big Red Machine destorys the AWA mainstay to move onto round 3.

Round 3
Miami, Fl

3. The Rock
14. Arn Anderson

6. Curt Hennig
11. Kane

The Rock should dominate Arn Anderson. The match-up shouldn't be close. The Rock beat everyone in his day. He handled SCSA, Triple H, Kurt Angle, and The Big Show on many occasions. Unfortunately, the Rock is remembered much less fondly than he should be, evidenced by Evan Bourne-yesterday getting eight votes against him. Arn is much more beloved by smarks, so this might be close. It shouldn't be, but it will be.

Then, you have the opposite of the Rock, "Mr. Perfect" Curt Henning. This guy had great character and good in ring skills, but he spent his whole career as a mid-card guy and getting beat by Bret. He's opposite Rocky, though, as he's praised far too much.

Kane was unstoppable in his prime. He tore through anyone and everyone. He'd be Perfect here.

I think The Rock against Double A could be pretty interesting. Arn Anderson was a good worker in the ring, so was The Rock. Both guys could also talk a good game. I don't think The Rock will simply steamroll over Anderson. Anderson always showed himself pretty well against powerhouses like The Road Warriors or Lex Luger. Ultimately though, this will go to The Rock. Double A will eventually land the Spinebuster, Rocky'll kick out and The Enforcer's morale will take a nosedive. The Rock eventually hits the Rock Bottom and the match is over around the 10-12 minute mark.

As for Curt Hennig against Kane, I think this is the end of the road for Mr. Perfect. In his prime, Kane was a monster that could tear through just about everyone. It's kinda sad really what's happened to him lately, with WWE having him job to Rey Mysterio, who is half Kane's size. But, with Kane in his prime, Hennig doesn't really have much of a chance here. He'll give Kane all he's got, but he'll be lucky if he gets Kane down. Kane's too bigg, too strong and too durable. He certainly doesn't have anything in his arsenal that could put Kane down for the count. If Hogan could kick out of the Perfect-Plex, so could Kane. Kane hits a chokeslam around the 10 minute mark and it's over.

The following are the results of teh Miami Sub Regional.

The Rock vs. Arn Anderson: 51-11. The People's Champ dominates his way thru his hometown, easily dipsosing of the Enforcer of the Four Horsemen.

Curt Hennig vs. Kane: 23-47. Surprisingly enough, for a guy that supposedly sucks, he's damn dominant in the early rounds of the Wrestlezone Tournament year in and year out, and now Kane advances to the gimmick rounds.

Round 4: The match moves to Madison Square Garden, as the Rock faces off against Kane in a to be determined gimmick match.

I am a little surprised that this division name to an end with Kane facing The Rock. The Rock I can see, but Kane has fought through a lot to get here. But for anyone who has seen any of the Attitude Era will know that The Rock> Kane by a long shot. As it moves into the Gimmick Matches however, this makes it close. Kane has been in a lot of these, Hell in a Cell, he was able to decimate the cage at the first one. The man pioneered the Inferno match. It will be extremely fun to see Kane get by The Rock, but it will take a lot of hard work.

The only gimmick match you can back Kane is a first blood one. The Rock has beaten kane in a No Holds Barred match, which many Gimmick matches are exactly the same as. As for Inferno, Kane has lost a few of them matches. The only one I can remember him winning was against MVP, but I am not 100% sure if that was his only win. Didn't he lose near his prime to HHH in one? Therefore I am sure The Rock would beat him in that one. First blood is Kane's best shot.

The Rock has beaten Kane time and again at the height of his career. The Rock is faster, probably as strong as Kane, just as resilient, and simply had a better career. As has been stated, Kane has the advantage in a first blood match. He will likely lose any other type of match. This really should be close though. Kane can certainly hang with the Rock and would certainly whoop his ass for a while in HIAC or a match like that. No matter what, though, my vote goes to Rocky.

In a Stretcher Match, Kane would kill The Rock. Rock would put up one hell of a fight, but I haven't seen anyone, even now, put Kane down for any length of time. Rock would also have a problem with picking up Kane, to put him on a stretcher. Kane wins, but it'll be a bloody brawl, fit for old school ECW.
