WWE 2K18 Hype Thread

UK guys are under contract, but allowed to take certain bookings. So kinda both. Got scanned & makes no sense why they wouldnt be in.

I kinda want to see the formula 2k follows for who is in/out. If its a space issue, im sure we could drop a few slots filled by alt attires. We dont need multiple Big Show's.

They've said before duplicates don't take up roster slots but who knows. The horsewomen were scanned for 16 and didn't get in either. I think they tend to scan everybody they can.

It takes a long time to make each model as well. So they probably scan everyone without the intention of actually putting everyone in. Better to be safe than sorry type of deal.

In case anybody doesn't know, a bunch of videos have gone up featuring gameplay and many other things for the game. More is to come too.

2017 and hair still looks like shit.

I just saw footage of Alexa’s entrance and her hair is a hot mess. They should do the Dana did back around the time of the first UFC Undisputed game and pay anyone with long hair a nice bonus to cut it or leave them out like Clay Guida.

That's the entrance I saw. Couldn't believe how bad it looked for a major company like 2K in 2017.

That sounds like a terrible idea for WWE and 2K.

The real fix to the hair issue is to do with UFC and EA did with the women in their game. Have them tie their hair up so it's not flapping all over the place and looking shit.

Example A.

Sure, it wouldn't match the real life hairstyles of the women but it'd make their character models look a thousand times better.

There's a rumor I saw on the 2k forums about Almas not wanting to be in the game but that makes zero sense to me.

I was playing for awhile last night and so far so good. The graphics look fantastic, the terrible looking characters (Dana Brooke and Nia Jax) look much better this year, and gameplay is smoother. I'm still getting the hang of the carry system but it's a nice addition.

Only glitches I've noticed so far are the ref not counting pins in the new backstage areas, and in 8 man battle royals when you set it to pin or submission. Might be more I haven't noticed yet but those are biggies.

Picking it up after work...dare I ask is there a sort by show option? Or something making it easier to tell who is on what show?

*fingers crossed*

It's funny they swell the roster over 200 and then don't have a fucking sort option (that was already in a game 4 years ago )

I remember and I read a couple pages back there was a discussion :lmao: thought I was going to have to break out a pen and paper last year with my brand split.

I haven't even looked at universe mode yet but there's nothing like that in exhibition. Im guessing all there is what they had last year for universe mode though.

The notes app on my phone will help though, I use it for a few universe mode things.

Not reading great things. Basically a glorified roster / graphics update. Cruiserweight division isn't even properly integrated.

It's fine Though, since I had low expectations anyways. Being able to have 8-man tag matches being the biggest new feature announced didn't exactly give me a ton of hope.

I keep hearing that this year is an improvment, but not a big step forward.

That's the idea of incremental sequels, isn't it?

I actually thought about buying this year's game - I doubt it would be any good but as a wrestling fan just the novelty of being able to play as my favourite wrestlers is tempting - but then I saw the eye watering price of the "get all the DLC" edition and decided against it.

You aren’t wrong, but I think the reason it sounds like a complaint is that we are a long time removed from a very good wrestling game. The last few THQ and these first few 2K attempts don’t feel completely polished.

Regardless, I’m with you on the DLC. Maybe in a few months when the price of the actual game goes down, but it’s a pass for me for now.

It's all Yuke's who develop it. The fundamentals have been wonky for years and all they do is tinker with things on the surface. Fucking collision detection still doesn't work properly. They've been using the same game engine, and this is not an exaggeration, since 2001. If they wanted to make an actually decent wrestling game, they'd have to start from the ground up - but that's a lot of work and very costly. The alternative is they take the same game, change two or three things about it, and release it again year after year. Sometimes they just take features out. Either way they'll sell in the same ballpark of copies, so where's the incentive to redesign it from the ground up? Literally the only reason I considered buying it is because the last time I played a wrestling game it didn't have any of the members of The Shield in it. But if I have to pay extra to play as Aleister Black, they can do one.

The bitter irony is that Yuke's made really good UFC games but that was the license that got taken away from them when THQ folded.

I'm enjoying it greatly thus far. I basically play these games every year up until the next one comes out and never get bored. I did get the deluxe edition as well. No one is lying when it's basically the same as years prior with minor improvements but coming from a guy who religiously buys NHL and Madden every year, it's nothing i'm not used to lol.

It's glitchy as fuck. The hot tag mechanic is a mess. It looks like you're trying to grab the guy who is crawling but there's about a six inch space between your arms and their body.

In Universe any time I try to do a promo that isn't a call out promo the game crashes.

Had several times where I go to do a move and I end up floating above the ring.

The Rick Martel model is awful in the face. I wouldn't even be able to tell it was him if they hadn't had the name.

The expanded backstage area is really nice though. And the carry mechanic is definitely cool.
In my 80s/early 90s Universe I was able to delete any pay per views that I wanted so I'm down to the big 4. I hope that's not a glitch.

There are limitations to the match creator so for example you cant's do a handicap tag match.

They do have the steel, blue and black cages though so that's cool. And two different elimination chambers.

I thought we were supposed to be getting triple threat and fatal four way tag matches now but we didn't.

And you can't make a TLC match where you can win by pin.

Career mode is similar to NBA2K this year where you have archetypes so you're limited in how you can build your character. And body type affects things. You also have to earn VC to unlock almost everything but you can't get it right off the bat. You have to earn the right to unlock it and then pay for it.

The game is fun to play but with the less than stellar DLC this year and all the bugs they need to work out and certain limitations people are going to be upset again.
