NBA 2K17 hype thread

The PF is the one position I think I have never played as a character. Why the PF?

I played center as a kid and I never got the ball. So PF seemed like the alternative. It isn't easy to play though, because the game doesn't like to reward you very much for fundamental play like setting screens.

I play PG and C mostly. One or the other.

I'm mostly always a PG. Sometimes though I'm a SG or SF. If you want a challenge, play as a SF and build yourself up to the starting position. Game in and game out you almost always have to guard the other team's best players. If you do a good job though, you get a hell of a lot of VC.

I like to play as a PG usually but I play as an SG sometimes too.
Whenever I play as a PG they usually end up putting me in the SG position anyway.

That's usually because you make your PG too tall. Usually anything over 6'3" and they'll sub you in as a SG. At least that's been my experience.

Which really isn't that big of a deal, the PG position is far from a hard and fast rule on who gets to run the offense in the NBA.

Back in the day, maybe 2k12, you could run in front of the PG when it's being inbounded and the ball would go to you instead. Helped if you're a rookie. If you are a backcourt player and I'm on the court, just spot up or gtfo of my way.

Geez it was frustrating having a shit stat line because you dish off to get the assists and then they miss the layup because of the foul. Sure you still drop 10-15 pretty easy but the assists and steals are what is going to get you up the board

The easiest way to get good grade when playing my player mode in games is to be a SG or SF, when on defense just stick with your man. When they shoot, make sure you're holding L2/LT for the block out. If your guy shoots; contest then block out. Then, when you're running the fast breaks, if the paint is clear run to the rim, if not run to the corner three point line and you'll get good remarks every time. Also rebounding and steals give a huge boost.

1. Picks up game.
2. Rushes home in excitement.
3. Puts in game.
4. Nearly 7GB update.
5. Fuck. This. Game.

I might watch Lord of the Rings since I'll be able to get through the trilogy before the download is finished.

If you have a 7GB update to download, then is there much of a reason to buy the disc?

Is there really that big of a download? I'm getting ready to leave the house now to go to Game Stop and get my copy but if there is that big of an update, I'm going to be pissed.

The hilarious moment when both guys playing don't know how to intentionally foul. Up three and had to spam the steal button to send the guy to the line. T'was funny as hell seeing the guy just run by and desperately trying to foul in the last moments.

Yeah. It's like 6.6 GB.

Jesus lovers this Copy thing does take forever. Bought the game on the PS Store last night, started the DL, went to bed around 12:30, woke up at 8, it's only at 49℅

Anyone else doing MyTeam yet? I started a few days ago and my team is... meh. They give you some cards that you can't re-up contracts on, so I have been a bit spoiled by having a 90 rated Kawhi Leonard on my team, and once his contract ran out I had an 80-something ranked Andre Igoudala. Other than them my best players are Kevin Love, Tony Parker, and now Jay Williams, whom I got as a reward card.

Challenges are a lot different this year too, as best as I can tell. It looks like they're going to do a new group of challenges every week, and if week one's challenges are any indication, they're not going to be fucking ridiculously difficult like many of last year's challenges (beat all the top players of the 90s by using a team with only 3 guys ranked above 80? how hard can that be?!).

Is it possible to become the first pick in the draft? I averaged 26 ppg, 9 ast, and 5 Reb in college (Yes I bought $20 worth of VC) and I was 4th. Wtf.

Anyways, I was drafted by Phoenix coming off the bench behind Bledsoe. I'll be starting soon. I'm at 85 overall.

It's probably a spoiler for my career so I'll hide it in case people don't want the story ruined.

So you have team mate named Justice. He's annoying for the most part but the little fella hits threes more often than not. He's leading the league right now and he's basically the only three point shooter we have in the starting lineup since I can't shoot them. Now when teams start hitting threes we kinda need him.

So I was checking the trophies the other day and it has one for "getting bad news from Justice" or something like that. Today I had a cut scene where Justice hints about being traded. Now this is complete bullshit because he's leading the league in threes. This fucker is the best and we're going to trade him because that's what the story says to do.

Piss off. That's such bullshit. Nobody else in the starting lineup wants to shoot threes and they're just going to trade the one guy who is hitting them at over 50% and has gotten us out of close game situations? I'm like 90% sure that's where this story is going. Justice is getting traded and we're giving up the best three point shooter in the league.

Fuck!

You can earn free VC if you download the card game onto your phone. I think it's called My NBA 2K17. It's similar to the WWE card game.

Even if you don't actually want to play it there's a part called Earn VC where every 24 hours you log in and pick three cards and whatever they combine to be you get that VC. You can rack up a decent amount that way.

If you do play the game though you can get 500 VC a day by winning 10 games and there are also VC goals. Like I have one going that I just remembered which is to complete a season. It gives 500 VC for completing a season. All the season games are simulated so you just check in on it and add energy cards to your roster. I forgot to so my team is doing horrible.

It's an easy way to get VC though.

Well if you think that is bullshit, my game is freezing whenever i try to load it now. Finished a game against the grizzlies (which I was going to simulate but the spalding event i wanted to do after wouldnt let me) then when loading back to my court it just freezes. Fucking hell if they cant fix this i'm gonna be raging

According to Smoove it's impossible to upgrade your free throw and stamina, among other things, permanently. You have to go to a TEAM practice, the extra ones don't count, and hope you get +1 to whatever category you want but it either doesn't show up in your ratings or goes away after a game or two.

:lmao:

Classic 2K with the one step forward and the two steps back.
