WTF? TNA just pulled a remake of the Montreal screw job!

I watched tna on youtube, i never watch tna. It seemed to get interesting with Hogan, Bischoff, Kennedy, and all the other WWE dudes, the 4 sided ring in tna so I was interested of how everything is going down. Was Angle serious about this screwjob thing and about going to WWE or not?

When I first heard it was going to happen, I was pissed. I was pissed at the fact that people just can't seem to let this event go. For God's sake, Bret himself came out to try and put an end to things. This just seemed cheap to me.

Having read through this thread, my opinion hasn't changed. At least, not completely.

What I mean is that I still feel this wasn't a good idea, but I understand their reasoning behind it. TNA wanted to a) get people talking about them, and b) get AJ over as a heel. Well, they certainly accomplished a, and they'll probably accomplish b. My complaint still remains, though, that it still seemed cheap.

If they wanted to get themselves, as well as AJ, over, as well as take a shot at WWE, couldn't they have tried something else? I'm all for AJ being a heel, and I want TNA to succeed. And maybe the timing was right, considering Bret is with WWE right now. But they could've done something else. Like the guest host concept, maybe? Have some D-list celebrity come out and help AJ retain the belt. Then have said celebrity come out the next week to put AJ over while making him look like an asshole. Hell, have David Arquette do it just for that extra bit of heat.

Again, I understand what TNA was trying to accomplish, and I feel as though they succeeded. I just didn't like the way they went about doing it.

I look at it as a booker's perspective. You can only do so many matches with so many finishes at once. You can't do the same match over and over again. AJ already beat Angle the night before by cheating with a belt. He cleanly pinned Angle weeks ago. I think if you brought out Hogan's cronies or a D list celebrity, it would make AJ look more cheap.

They already tried to have a celebrity host last month. Remember Super Dave Osbourne? me too, something I would like to forget. I don't think they should of done the screw job angle to mimic WWE to a T. Flair already assaulted the referee the night before, so it would be the same if he were to do it again. I just think that it creates drama and excitement to make viewers want to tune in next week.

Everyone knows about the screw job online, but not everyone knows about it outside the IWC. I think we should wait to see how this plays out. Kurt was pissed at Hogan because he is "running' the show. Who is to say that Hogan was even responsible for it? maybe Ric Flair or AJ is responsible for Hebner's dirty deed.

Again anything can happen. TNA isn't cut and dry. They let the fans decide who the heel or who the face is. We could talk all day about the holes in TNA or WWE's shows, but if it gets people to watch the show and entertain at the same time. I don't see the problem. I'm more of a fan then an analyst any way.

I'm sick and tired of the Montreal Screwjob being rehashed but I'll wait and see what it leads to. The Punk/Taker screwjob storyline ended up being abandoned in the end and I doubt this will be the case here.

Like I said before, I thought it was a great idea... the bret hart screw job was over 12 years ago and WWE is actually running a storyline behind it and people complain about the Nastys!

Granted, I understand and remember the importance of the screw job... But is was 12 years ago and I really think it was nothing more than a shot at WWE for thinking that most of their new PG era actually knows the real story behind bret being back...

And it wasn't just a nonsense slap in the face, it fit their storyline purposes... Flair said he hates Hogan, so he got in Ebner's pocket and got Aj the screwjob victory... Like someone said earlier, if it was for no purpose I would hate the idea... But it got AJ over as a heel, took a shot at WWE, and it got a lot of people talking about TNA... Good job all the way around...

Who's idea do you guys think it was Russo, Hogan, or Bishoff?

Was it random and odd that they would do this? Yes it is, but again this is to garner attention (and damn did it ever work). With Bret back in the WWE it's going to at least make people want to see what TNA did when someone says "it was an exact repeat of Montreal."

1: No, getting attention would be seeing more of it being written about on the headlines of these websites, and not just analyzed on forums. Montreal '97 made headlines (of wrestling sites and publications). This situation if far from making the same kind of impact (no pun intended).

2: It's not a exact repeat of Montreal. It's a malformed clone baby of Montreal '97. And it was abandoned in a dumpster.

*SPOILER ALERT*
3: Let's pretend it's a perfect world for you and say that this was great bit of planning by TNA to get "fans talking". Read the spoilers for those Impact tapings. Following "night", Angle comes out, Hogan comes out, Hogan says "not cool, brother" and Angle says "my bad, my bad" and they shake hands and JESUS MAKE IT STOP I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE! So, just like the Punk/Undertaker angle from last fall, it gets dropped as soon as it gets started (unless we start getting some Angle vs Hebner matches!). Great way to keep buzz for your product. That keep those fans "talking".

I have a feeling that since it's TNA (and most want it to fail while otehrs just need to complain to feel improtant) it got shit on. If Ring of Honor did it, it would be genius and brilliant and the writers would be so smart to think to do something like that to take a shot at WWE. Anyone else see the hypocrisy here?

Just you, buddy, just you. Most want it to fail? Defensive much? I certainly don't want it to fail. I don't think anyone really said that at all on this thread either. And if you are going to knock people who "complain to feel important", you better look around because this is an internet community based around a wrestling forum and I guarantee that at least 85% of anything posted here is some form of complaint. If you feel that most of it is lobbed at TNA, perhaps it's because they deserve much of it. And I don't see ROH ever trying an angle as "WWE branded" as the submission screwjob because when they say they are doing something different and something non-sports entertainment, they actually mean it. Most ROH would shit on them for trying something like that.

It was badly planned, badly executed, totally non-believable, and dropped a week later. It's garbage.
