Wrestlemania XXXII

People love to bring up Austin vs Hart at Wrestlemania 13 as a thing that helped make Austin a star (he already was at that point). Bringing up that example is great but please bring up an example more recent than 1997 for that (good luck with that).

To a degree Roman last year

Thinking about how this was the 10th anniversary of WM 22, there are a few similarities I noticed between the two shows:

-Both 32 and 22 had main events featuring the mega heel Triple H getting mega cheered against the newly established, largely reviled golden boy.

-Both shows saw a McMahon take on a respected veteran in a crazy gimmick match.

-Both shows featured women's bouts that had great build-ups culminating in a great match. In fact, this had the best Mania women's match since WM 22.

-Both shows relied on a fair amount of gimmick matches, more so than a lot of Wrestlemanias.

Foley getting half killed in the Cell with Taker and continuing to fight despite that solidified his popularity. That was in 1998.

Still, that was 1998 and this is 2016. When has WWE actually done that recently? And I'm not not counting Reigns last year because he has got boos at least 90% everywhere since that.

You need the right person to do it and I think Dean is that person.

On another note that Nakamura chant could have potentially been started by the Team Four Star guys that were at Mania this year

you have one of the hottest babyface groups going right now lose. You then have the people that won looking like chumps because of 3 retired pro wrestlers two of which should never take another bump again due to their injuries. You make your hottest babyface group look like chumps because the people that beat them ended up looking like chumps. It took 3 retired wrestlers to take down 4 active wrestlers. Think about how bad that sounds.

First things first, Shane's balls are bigger than ours. This is just a fact of life. Zack Ryder won the Intercontinental Championship, that alone should refrain anyone from saying this Mania was predictable. I'm a little sad to see AJ lose his Mania debut but I know he has more waiting for him in the future and I can't wait to see the blowoff gimmick match b/w him and Jericho at Extreme Rules. The New Day are awesome and this too is a fact of life. Brock and Ambrose had a decent, violent match but it should've went a little longer than it did. The women continue to excel, excellent triple threat match, Sasha's push to the title shall be a treat to watch. I don't know who said it in the LD but they were right when they said we are pretty much in the greatest age of women's wrestling from LayCool to the 4 Horsewomen.

Did I really see Shaquille O'Neal compete at Wrestlemania? John Cena is an alien cyborg, once again a fact of life. I thought the Main Event was good, but I can't help but be curious on where Roman goes after the assumed rematch with HHH as the E is currently scarce on top level heels. You got what, Wyatt, Sheamus, and Del Rio as possible ME level heels and maybe Owens or Rusev can get elevated. However, that's a question for the future, all in all a decent Mania considering what they had to work with cause of all the injuries.

The IC Title match was very good, better than last years. Ryder winning was a legit surprise and I'm happy for him. I'm cool with Owens dropping the belt since Zayn did the damage that took him out. Their feud should be boss as fuck and Owens has to be a shoe in for MitB this year.

I was disappointed that Jericho won simply because I'm certain they are going to have another fucking match and I've found most of their previous encounters to be underwhelming. I'm ready to see AJ work with someone who can keep up. At least this time it'll be a gimmick match.

I'm good with New Day losing only because it wasn't clean. I suspect they'll get their win back.

Ambrose and Lesnar was okay. Should have been a war. Coco already nailed it with this one.

Bayley should have won. That's my only gripe with the Women's match. Everything else was superb. MotN.

Cell match was exactly what it should have been.

The ARMBAR was good fun. Corbin winning was great.

Didn't like the Wyatts being used as Rock fodder but hey, what else would you expect?

The main event was fine. That's about it.

Stayed up in the uk to watch it on my birthday. Fell asleep after the triple threat. Saw the rest of the results and it looks like the status quo was preserved. Disappointed WWE weren't braver in their booking and results (is anyone going to beat Lesnar? I mean I get that's the storyline but at the same time I'm bored of suplex city)

My exact thoughts during it. Made New Day look a bit whatever and LON weak after just beating the W.W.E World. Tag. Team. Champions. Pelvic swing.

I liked the show and just like last year was impressed with the outcome. The Reigns HHH match didn't do it for me and I actually skipped the first half of the match because I thought it would be boring.

Quick thoughts: Kevin Owens dropping the belt to feud with Zayn makes sense. The feud isn't based around the title so the title would be just hanging around. With Ryder winning atleast we can get an awesome feud and hopefully good ic title matches at the same time. Good moment for Ryder but not sure he is the guy to take the belt.

Divas match was awesome.

Did Big E hurt himself diving out the ring? Haven't looked for reports but it seemed weird he does the move and doesn't get up while the rest of the guys who got hit were able to get up.

Shane wtf. Insane. I never thought WWE would let someone do that, let alone Vince's own son. Awesome match despite the sluggish start.

Ambrose and Leanar was average as hell if you ask me.

People might've popped for The Rock but I didn't like the 6 second match at all.

Better than I thought but still not the greatest mania.

Can't wait until you have time to fill us in on the live vibe and highlights from the weekends events.

It will be a week delayed or so because I have a really busy week this week, but I plan on getting a Wrestlemania & NXT weekend live experience post up.

Can anyone confirm that Kevin Owens is still alive or at the very least does not have a broken neck? That looked, painful as fuck for starters, like he didnt flip all the way over properly and landed straight on his neck right on the edge of the ladder

I'm sure it's been posted on here somewhere, but there's too many posts to scroll through.

Did anyone notice the air mattress or inner tube under the announce table when Shane took the bump off the cell? If you watch the replays, look on the crowd facing side of the table and you can see what looks like a giant black air mattress slowly deflating.

For obvious reasons, it's a good thing it was there. But I don't recall ever seeing something like that being used. I'm sure it has been for spots off the Titantron, the stage, etc...

I skipped the Diva's match. I usually do. I hear they're all pretty good now, so maybe they won't be the designated piss break anymore.

You should go back and give it a shot mate, you might enjoy it since it is easily in the top 5 women's matches the company has ever had.

I enjoyed Mania immensely. I had some minor niggles but these are mostly things to do with Roman's booking.

Ideally Ambrose would have endured a bit more punishment I guess, but I'm not disappointed in the match particularly.

What I really, really liked, however, was how few finishers were used in the show. Most matches where they happened ended after only one finisher from a participant, although Jericho kicking out after the Styles Clash was a little odd. Still I guess they want to get Styles' "WWE Finishers" over. Oh and obviously I don't take Roman's several Superman Punches into account here. Trips only got off one Pedigree though, which is frankly fucking remarkable.

Overall I'd say the show was really very good, but not truly excellent. 4 stars, or something, if you believe in those kind of ratings.

Maniacs I'm in the same boat as you dudes. I made it perfectly clear hundreds of times over that I'm available jack. I've emailed man. Called brothers. Faxed jack. Not a peep from Vince man. That spot with Austin and foley dudes would have been perfect to crank real American man. Tears steaming hard brothers for this show man. It had potential maniacs. Only love. HH

Most of the show was pretty entertaining, but I am thoroughly confused about the booking of just about every match.

The only good part of the Wyatt segment was JR arguing with people on Twitter who called bs on him saying that the Wyatts weren't buried because he complimented Bray before calling him fat and treating all 3 of them like jobbers

Was this show legitimately almost five hours after a two hour pre-show?

No wonder I felt like that main event was holding me hostage.

Yeah, The Wyatts only shared the ring with two of the best wrestlers in the history of the WWE and got some screen time on the biggest WrestleMania ever. They definitely got buried.

Kidding aside, Rowan got buried but he is as useful as warmed up shit in the WWE, I couldn't care less. It was a good segment eventually and the Wyatts needed put down for once.
