I feel bad for the Ivory Coast. Over the three games, they deserved it more than Greece.

Over the course the group, despite all their talent, the Ivory Coast have been pretty poor. They didn't deserve to beat Japan, got beaten by Columbia and for my money deserved to be beaten tonight.

Yup.

Belgium were supposed to be shit hot coming into the tournament. Everyone was tipping them to go far. Thus far they've had to rely on late goals from subs to sneak victories over Algeria (who were out of puff after about 60 minutes) and Russia (who are painfully dull and lack anything resembling skill). They're lazy with the ball and Hazard (their best attacking player) only seems interested when he sees the potential for his name going up in lights.

The US (assuming they do get through because as Greece showed last night, it's not over, until it's over) have played better than Belgium in both their games and have provided some entertaining viewing, again something Belgium have failed to do. They're a technically gifted group, but the US seem more hungry, energetic and excited. It's going to be a tight game, should it come about.

Also, Costa Rica or Greece will have a team in the last eight...the odds on that must've been extraordinary only two weeks ago.

Not necessarily great for the individual teams but for the continent it is not all that bad as they could be guaranteed three teams in the last eight and definitely have one in the last four.

Holland Vs Mexico essentially looks like a game for a semi-final spot, where you expect they'd meet Argentina. The other side on paper looks like Brazil Vs France/Germany. I'm not convinced it'll that simple though, I could certainly see Brazil going down to Colombia and, if they recover, Switzerland could frustrate Argentina.

I'm leaning more towards Neymar. The Brazil team is much more average, while Messi has Aguero, di Maria and Higuain around him to help.
