World Cup LD

I'm considering this reason for optimism for the US. If they can get a win over Ghana today things will be looking about as good as they can be.

Difficult to say much because we only got 45 minutes that were competitive but I think Germany have looked the best team so far.

I'm trying to remember which pundit it was but I heard an interesting point about Holland's win over Spain - their formation was a reaction to Spain and may not necessarily be how they intended to set up for the tournament in general. Their next game should give us a better idea.

Germany did look strong and didn't even look like they were playing to their full potential.

But Portugal isn't as good as Spain.

Perhaps coming into the tournament but on their first performances, the Spanish are no better than Portugal and perhaps worse.

Judging the Dutch on how easy the Spanish made it for them might not give you an accurate reading of how good they really are.

Germany looked dominant even before the red card. It might not have lasted against 11 for the full 90 but on the available evidence, the Germans are for me the outstanding team so far.

Anyone else speculate that the US/Ghana game will be the catalyst for a Kofi Kingston heel turn?

No, you say Vince has never heard of The World Cup and he still thinks Kofi is from Jamaica. Never mind.

Charlton Athletic's Reza Ghoo-- Ghocheni-- Ghoochejini-- Reza is playing up front for Iran. Prepare to be entirely unimpressed.

Just wait until it goes in out in out and shake all about with the whooooooa the Shola Ameooooooooobi comes on in the second half.

USA! USA! USA!

After watching Portugal melt down, I have gone from hopeless to cautiously optimistic the US can advance to the knockout stage again, especially since Pepe's suspension will take place during the US match. Glad I woke up early enough to watch the whole match, Mueller is so fun to watch.
