Why Do People In The UK and Ireland Hate James Corden So Much?

I'm asking this question in The Media Hub to get serious answers. Whenever I read an online article about James Corden, all of the comments are extremely negative and they generally either involve remarks on Corden being a fame-hungry asshole, a talentless hack, or both.

Although I am not a huge fan of Gavin and Stacey, the handful of episodes I saw were well-written. If you couple this with Corden's 2012 Tony Award, I don't see how anyone can rightly call him a talentless hack. As for him being an asshole, I have never seen him in a public appearance, but it seems as if every journalist that writes about him always includes a remark about him not being anywhere near as bad as people make him out to be. So, again, why do people in the UK and Ireland hate James Corden so much?

I don't hate the guy. I just don't find him funny and for a comedian that is something you shouldn't be. I've been told that I have a strange sense of humour (which I probably do) but Corden just doesn't seem funny to me. And it's not the 'the style is not my taste but I can understand why some people find him funny' it's the 'this comedy is shit why is he famous for it' kind of thing.

To be fair there have been a few recent British comedians that (to me anyway) are devoid of any comedic talent. Lee Nelson is one (guy is terrible) and others are very hit and miss for me like Jack Whitehall.

As to James Corden being a dick. Well Russell Brand and Jimmy Carr seem to be able to get away with it. Then again they're funny (for the most part) so maybe that's part of it.

I saw him in a night club once about 5 years ago. Was like "hey, James Corden!". He just barges past me muttering. later i'm dancing with my friends and some girls near him, we start going towards him again and he just roars "F**K OFFF" at the sight of us. That was our sole interaction that night - I get it that the fame must get boring, but it's a public club and it's not like I overstepped the boundary.

<1% it wasn't him too, not like I just accused some random pigeon of being a chubby tv funster.

The major problem with Corden is that he is nowhere near as funny as he thinks and holds himself to be. It can make him seem like he is acting "better than you" - it gets him disliked by many.

That and the football show he presented during the last World Cup was some of the worst television you will ever see - it took a beloved format (see Fantasy Football League) and littered it with garbage celebrities, crappy games and Corden's shit-eating grin. His hosting of an awards show (forget which one - the Brits maybe?) was also diabolical.

Any time he is on a chat show or comedy programme, I have to turn over. By all accounts though, he actually seems to be a much better actor than a comedian.

James Corden is like the obnoxious, loud guy at the bar who thinks he's hilarious because he gets some laughs out of the 'lads' while the rest of the bar wish he'd shut up.

But at least he isn't Keith Lemon.

Bit late for this one, but the short answer is that he's over-hyped. I still remember when he was just a random kid in Teachers, and found him entertaining to some extent, but since his rise to fame, I just don't find him appealing, funny or entertaining.

Whenever I see his name attached to something, I feel it's easy to overlook it because he just isn't funny. For me, he's in the same group as Will Ferrell, only funny when he's following someone else's script.

I thought Gavin & Stacey was fantastic, however "Horne & Corden" was absolute tripe and involved him just getting out his belly for laughs. That I think was the start of people's dislike for him. He fell out with Horne. Then you had his little feud with Patrick Stewart which still baffles me to this day. Stewart I think was clearly in the wrong and pretty drunk, but people will obviously take his side over Corden.

James Corden is smug. He's not funny (in my opinion), but likes to think he's about ten times as good as he actually is. The worst part is they've used him for motivational speeches on UK Fundraising shows, but they have no desired effect on me 'cos he's doing them.

I've had friends who have attempted to talk to him in public & he's completely ignored one of them & told the other to pretty much go away as he said (I quote) "Go away, I don't have time for people like you". He seems like he's in way over his head & needs to get off the Telly pretty quick.
