Who can defeat Andre the Giant?

Because kayfabe voting doesn't give us an accurate reading of who were the "best." And it is extremely biased. Literally anyone could beat anyone looking from kayfabe. Bryan has beaten Cenza clean. I guess that makes him a better wrestler overall. Kane beat Taker 3 separate times on PPV with the world title on the line, thus we should all vote Kane over Taker in the WZT.

What makes anybody a better wrestler overall???? I guarantee that if Cena faced Bryan in the WZT that the vote would be a lot closer than "should" be considered. But isn't the true measure of a good wrestler his popularity/heat at any given point? Isn't that what sells? And isn't that the point of wrestling since it isn't a legitimate athletic contest?

Someone should have the opportunity to make cases for Kane over Taker if they want to. And you should have the opportunity to dispute it.

Long term kayfabe booking does have a strong correlation with who the biggest stars of a time are. Last year, I don't think Daniel Bryan lost clean for at least the second half of the year, and he was voted Superstar of the year. Look at Cena's win percentages at PPVs. Other top guys' win percentages at PPVs against lesser guys. Kayfabe booking is used as REPRESENTATIVE of the big stars. Big stars are booked higher on the whole, very few long-term test subjects would curb this rule.

And either way, all the more reason to make a decision as informed as possible is to look at as many facets of a wrestler or match-up as possible before writing.

What am I doing, the tournament hasn't even started yet.

= "I wanna vote Heath Slater here cos he said he likes nachos and I like nachos and I don't think Yokozuna liked nachos and also he looked silly"

Based on that logic, we have our tournament winner....

Yes. And kayfabe isn't always a good measure of that because some people are treated better than others. See Kane vs Vader. More often than not it breaks down into a popularity contest anyways.

Which is pretty much what I've been arguing the entire time. But...

And all this months before the actual WZT...

Oh fuck who is the fucking genius who gave History/Silverback a link to the WZT Archives!!!

Since we're going this route, Mr. Connors, long-lost cousin to Rick Steiner, will avenge his broken jaw, terminated employment and confiscated dog.

So... Haggar, Nacho, Zangief, Bonesaw, Randy 'The Ram', Mr. Connors, Rafi...
