What you call wrestlers.

After spending much of the morning and last night debating Shawn Michaels, I got thinking why we call wrestlers different things.

When referring to Shawn I always just say Shawn, however others say HBK, Shawn Michaels, or Michaels.

When referring to wrestlers such as The Undertaker, I simply say Undertaker. For the Great Khali, it's Khali, same with Cena.

But when referring to wrestlers such as Bret Hart, I say Bret Hart.

Anyone have an opinion on this?

its like Calling Batista, Craptista or Big Dave Dudd. Its just a number of ways to say the same thing sometimes its for time constraints in what people are trying to say what they want in.

I have a knack to call Rob Van Dam simply "Van Dam." I also like to call Taz "Taaaz" with a long a. Kinda like how Joey Styles says it.

Kurt Angle: Angle

Batista: Wartista

Motor City Machine Guns: The Guns

Bam Bam Bigelow: Bam Bam

and so on and so on.

There are some wrestlers that cannot be said without their full name like Samoa Joe and Bret Hart.

Shawn Michaels = It depends on where I'm saying. SM = HBK on the internets, Shawn Michaels out loud.

HHH = Trips
Undertaker = 'Taker
Rey Mysterio = Rey
JBL = Bradshaw
Batista = Big Guns

It's a form of shorthand. It's like calling a dude named David Dave, Robert Bobby, or James Jim.
For me, Shawn Michaels = HBK
Triple H= Trips ( Or if I'm wanting to show off, it's Hx3)
Undertaker= Taker
Chris Jericho= Y2J
John Bradshaw Layfield = JBL
EDGE= Rated R
Randy Orton = RKO
Batista = Boreista
Steve Austin = Stone Cold
Some people just don't like saying or typing out whole names, so shortening it just works.

Christian="The Champ" (take that Cena fans!)
Ric Flair="The kiss stealin, wheelin dealin, jet flyin, limousine ridin, son of a gun..The Nature Boy, Ric Flair!" (That's how I really say it every time LOL!)

I pretty much call most guys what their refered to (Cena, Lashley, Flair, HBK, etc) but one nickname me and a friend came up with was bavck in the day during Mark Henrys Sexual Chocolat days. He was known as "Mark Hershy", a name that still stands today with my friends.

Keep in mind.. some of these are actually terms of endearment in my mind, and some I just am serious about. You'll just have to guess which is which.

Triple H - Triple Nose, or Hunter's Huge Honker
Kurt Angle - Egghead
Candice Michelle - Candice McHell
Booker T - Ice T
Randy Orton - Randy ****eton

theres one michaels, theres one cena, theres one undertaker in wrestling. but you cant say hart because theres a few other somewhat well known harts (owen and stu) so you specify which hart your talking about.
