What song are you currently listening to?

Until recently, this song had never been one of my favourite Metallica tracks. I always felt it was a kind of poor imitation of Nothing Else Matters, I that view remained, no matter how many times I heard the song. However, I am currently playing the Black Album in the car and for some reason this song just clicked with me, and now I love it!

The contrast between the heavier guitaring and vocals, and the smoother tuneful music and singing is great, Hetfield's voice sounds awesome as it does throughout the album and I am glad that I finally appreciate the quality of this track.

Awesome song and still the best of the 3 Unforgivens. Back in my school days, I had a bit of a metal-head for a teacher and while everyone else was doing Of Mice and Men, we were watching the video over and over to compare it with the lyrics and all the different symbolism involved.

It's funny how when Metallica first started releasing music promo's a lot of fans were accusing them of selling out, but at least the videos had a lot of meaning and subtext going on. Not saying that's always been the case, but when they get it right it fucking rocks!

As for me, been re-watching Sons of Anarchy season 2 this past week and there's a BITCHING cover of a Bob Dylan tune used in the first episode, The Lions - Girl From the North Country

One of only 3 Wu Tang songs I like, but an absolute rap classic. I think this was one of the first rap songs I really got into many years ago, and its a great video too.

For some reason I really like how the music and lyrics start at exactly the same time straight away, its a bit different but very cool.

Never really been able to get into the Clan, I picked up one of their albums years ago but it did nothing for me. This song is awesome though

Florence + The Machine: "Rabbit heart [raise it up]

This was a big coincidence, I was watching MTV World stage just because Muse were going to play on or two songs. As always I was having my mind only on my laptop. Out of nowhere I start to hear this voice that was abit of jazz a bit of soul and it got my attention it was Florence + The Machine. I don't know how to label this band, it's simply fantastic. I think they are alternative that have some roots in gospel soul and classic rock, not sure.

Anyway it's an amazing band that both musically and on stage has much energy.

From the Edward The Great compilation CD, I can NEVER remember the name of this track, but it is an absolute best. For some reason I know all the words and can sing alogn to it when its playing but the name always slips my mind.

This is one of Maiden's best songs IMO, it really showcases what they are all about, I love the guitar solo's and Bruce Dickinson really does have one of the most recognisable voices in metal, he fits the band perfectly.

I would love to see Maiden play live but I know they tend to just play their latest album with a couple of famous older songs at the end of the set, while I would want to hear all the classics like this, "The Evil That Men Do", "Fear of The Dark" and "Rainmaker". Hopefully, they will do a tour of their greatest songs soon and come back to the UK

"Sammy Davis Jr." by Movits! -- amazing Swedish hip-hop on top of big-band style swing music. It's dope.

I was inspired to listen to "Cosmic Love" by Florence + the Machine. I would describe this album as... well, it's as if Fiona Apple and Jack White got together to write a Stevie Nicks tribute album. That's the best way I can articulate it. Either way, Florence Welsh is incredible and you should really go buy this album if you don't have it already.

Final Combat - The Immortals

There's just something to the song that's uplifting and pumps you up. Must be the beat. Got to hearing it when I saw a few music videos with the song.

Satellite - Rise Against

One of their songs from their latest album, Endgame. In my honest opinion one of the very few songs to stick out from it. It's definitively my favorite from it, though.

"Don't Stop the Music" by Jamie Cullum. Can't go wrong with a jazz trio covering a monster Rihanna hit with just a piano, drum kit and a stand-up bass.

"Mansion Song" by Kate Nash. I gotta reach 50 posts before they'll let me be in the e-fed portion of the boards; expect a lot of songs outta me tonight, as I've got the whole collection on shuffle.

Fleabites by Joe Robinson

I've started listening to a lot of his stuff which is very Tommy Emmanuel-esque. Joe won Australia's got talent a couple of years ago. He's still under 20 I think and an amazing guitarist.

No Mercy Theme - Jim Johnston

Ah yes, Jim Johnston, the man behind pretty much every WWE theme. The guy's very talented for sure, and in 2002, Johnston was responsible for a few themes for WWE PPV's, such as "Fight" for SummerSlam and of course, No Mercy here. The song's very simple and very to the point; there will be no mercy. Obvious yes, good though. The theme was used from 2002 to 2005 and in 2006 it was remixed and used until the end of the PPV in 2008.

A great song from the "Garage Inc" album of covers and early recordings. I believe that this is a Black Sabbath song, but I have never heard the original so I could be mistaken. Whoever made it in the first place, it suits Metallica's style very well and this is a really good performance.

I am pretty impressed with most of the Garage Inc album, there are a few songs I am not too keen on, especially the 1st song on disc 1 but the majority are pretty good, with a few classics in there too.

"Alive With the Glory of Love" by Say Anything. In my Top 5 favorite songs ever. To take a simple love story and turn it on it's head by throwing it in the middle of the Holocaust, with extremely smart rock riffs behind it... I get chills every time. Brilliantly well-written.

I think I heard this on one of the Need For Speed games, although I have no idea which one!

It was "Black and White" that first introduced me to Static-X and I remember absolutely loving that song and the cool video where they were all robots like The Terminator. Great song.

This is pretty cool, it sounds like the kinda song that would be used for a wrestling PPV or in the montage video played before a big match. Good riff, very catchy and the singer has an awesome beard. Good stuff!

Megadeth-This Day We Fight!

This is a great song from an awesome album in Endgame. I love the chorus, the kick ass riffs and the superb solos from Chris and Dave. Very fast and powerful song that you can bang you head to all day. Megadeth is a really great band and this song along with this whole album is why.

Best is Yet to Come: RED

Its been a hell of a year so far for me and my wife. Things I never thought I see happen in my lifetime, let alone this young, have happened to my wife, and it's freaking sucked. Lately however, things have turned around in a major way, as my wife has been given a clean bill of health, and we've been able to celebrate that in a major way the past 2 weekends. This song talks about an "hourglass we can't rewind", and while I wouldn't wish whats happened to my wife upon anyone, Im so thankful for the way its brought us closer, and taught me not to taker her for granted.

After All that we've been through
And after all we've left in pieces
I still believe our lives have just begun
Because now the past can be outrun
And I know you are the reason
I still believe the best is yet to come

My feelings toward my wife couldnt be described better then it is in the chorus above. Alot was left in pieces by some earth-shatterring news, and I had to re-arrange my priorities. But the problems are in the past, and because my wife soldiered through each battle without so much a complaint, it gave me the hope to believe that the best of our lives together is "yet to come." That's all the more accentuated by the fact that tomorrow is her 31st birthday, and shes in a better place then Ive ever seen her before. I can't wait to see where the next years of our lives lead us.

I'm definitely not a big 3 Doors Down fan but "Kryptonite" is one of the songs I like. But probably the reason I'm enjoying it this time while listening to it is this:

Been listening to Phobia a lot lately, no idea why. It's been ages since I popped it in but the other day I had the urge to listen to something I hadn't heard in a while and this is the first CD I came across. I've always been a huge Breaking Benjamin fan, I love all of their albums.

This song has always been a favorite of mine. Used to make me all emotionally back when I was always having relationship issues in my life. But nowadays, it's just a sweet song to sit back and listen to. Love it.

I can't get enough of this song. I find myself listening to this song, no joke, at least ten time a day. With such a catchy chorus and straight to the point, great verses. This song is probably in my top 5 favorite songs at the moment. I don't see it going out of the list and time soon. Plus it has a great guitar rift.

It's an instrumental improv between ex-guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Fruscianti and new Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer. It's only AMAZING. Definitely only for very laid back people who are looking to relax.

Ghetto dreams by common and NaS. Two alltime greats going in on a no id beat. The songs sounds like a throwback to hip hops golden years.

I'm also listening to Nas but the song is "Nasty." It leaked out a few weeks ago and it is classic Nas. The beat is simple but the flow is ridiculous. It's another one of those songs he puts out every once in a while to show that he is still one of the best in the game today.

I love that song nasty. I thinks he picks simple beats so people focus on his lyrics instead of the beat. Yeah he showed people he definatly still got it.

Still getting in the mood ready for the Slash gig on Thursday evening, so playing some Snakepit!

This is one of my favourites from the "Its 5'Oclock somewhere" album, and has Slash's former Guns colleague Duff McKagen listed as a songwriter. Just typical Slash really, great guitar riffs and good vocals from Eric Dover. I prefer the other singer that Slash used on the other Snakepit album, but Dover's style works well here.

I am not expecting this to be played at the gig this week, but any Slash is good enough for me.
