US, December 13, 2006 - With Samoa Joe and AJ Styles working with Midway as consultants on the new TNA videogame, it's only fitting that the first two characters to debut in a teaser trailer are The Phenomenal One and The Samoan Submission Machine.

"I haven't liked a wrestling game since the N64," Styles told me during a recent interview, "so I'm going to make sure they get this right."

Samoa Joe feels the same: ""When they told us we were getting a videogame, we knew it was up to us to make sure it was good. The first day they came to talk to me and A.J., they knew we were adamant about the game being, not just good, but special, and we came in with three-to-four pages of suggestions. Stuff that worked in past games, stuff that hasn't worked, and they were pretty damn amazed by the level of detail and some of the stuff we came up with. We're definitely pushing the next-gen envelope. We're a game that's going to run at 60 frames-per-second, we're going to pump up the action, and pump up the violence level like only Midway does. Midway has a history of stylized violent games, and the TNA game should have that same type of flair."

sounds pretty cool, i was wondering if they were ever goin to do this? the TNA video game thing. hope its good and doesnt turn out like that POS "Backyard Wrestling" BS

I'm really anticipating this one, as TNA has a totally different style than WWE so it will be interesting to see how they work the X-Division style moves into the game and if you can do some of the crazy spots you see on the PPV's.

i think it would be cool if they used the aki wrestling engine found in the good n64 wrestling games(wcw vs the world, wcw revenge, wwf wrestlemania 2000 and wwf no mercy) Just update the graphic capabilities to something acceptable today.

Yeah i heard that those Midway games suck. I played a few old baseball and football games and they're so damn unrealistic. I hate how the people are on fire and they can like knock somebody out and stuff. It makes the whole gameplay look bad. I just want to see the features on it. If i do buy it, that'd be the only reason why.

i wonder how it will playout on the Nintendo Wii! It should be a good game. Screen shots I've seen look good, and yes, Midway isn't the best company 2 make wrestling games... I hope it turns out good!

Joe and Styles brought in three or four pages of suggestions, so if Midway f**ks this up, they deserve to be shot for it. They have the chance to make the most creative wrestling experience in history for a game console. This game is also something, that if successful, can really help introduce TNA to the young male demographic that they search for. If it sucks, then it'll only serve to help them tread water...much like ECW did when they took WWF's leftovers and had games made by Akklaim, who sucked ass at wrestling games. I hope it's good. The only wrestling game I've played in recent years that I've like is the first Day of Reckoning. Best CAW feature. Best physics engine. They just need to drop the stupid ass storyline and put more goodies into it. I hate playing through the storylines. They just make you wait to do all the cool stuff in the game because you have to buy it. Fire Pro needs to be revived in 3D format with all of the trimmings. I'm still pissed that I sold my import copy of 6 men scramble along with my Saturn.

Yeh, midway are pretty cack at game making, however, any licensed video game TNA can get to add more credit to their name, is going to be good. I probably will rent it, if we can get hold of it in the UK.

anyone know who all will be on the game and the arenas and match types?

It'll probably feature the obligatory match types, and possibly a few extras depending on how many characters they allow onscreen at once (I'm hoping up to six live players).

Anyways, the types to probably be seen are:

Singles
Ironman
Tag Team
Tornado
Ultimate X (w/tag team option)
King of the Mountain
X Gauntlet
Ladder
Hardcore

It's also likely you'll be able to wrestle all over the Impact Zone. One of the perks about not having to put the matches in a huge arena is that inside of a smaller venue you can really have some freedom because the stage doesn't take up as much memory.

Hopefully, the CAW feature is patterned note-for-note after Day of Reckoning's version. As well as the collision detection and physics engine.

Graphics look hot. I like it. There will be a wider expansion of wrestlers. I just hope that they don't give everyone the same of a move like WWE does. Also I hope the real move sets are given to the wrestlers because in WWE Cena has moves that he doesn't even use in real life. That takes the realism away from the game imo.

Matches I see:

King of the Mountain
Ultimate X
Impact Zone Brawl
Hardcore
Gauntlet
Ladder
Table
Six Sides of Steel
Tag Team
Tornado Tag
Tag Team Steel Cage

Stuff like that

I also see Season mode being different. Like if you choose to be tag team champions you start in tag division or if you choose a tag partner or something. I would also like to see CAW mode in this one. I would like to be able to go backstage and wrestle like in WCW mayhem. With the new 360 graphics it would make it much better. Also the controls can't be too difficult for Ultimate X and etc. Overall I am definitely picking this game up.

The interesting thing about that it is the first wrestling game to debut on the nintendo system I believe. Not sure. But this game might get more buys then WWE since it's on every system except nintendo DS. From what I hear it's on the ps2,ps3,nintendo wii,psp and 360.

After a period of negotiation with Electronic Arts and Rockstar Games, TNA signed a multi-year agreement with Midway Games on November 7, 2005.

On March 2, 2006, Midway announced that it would release the first TNA video game in history for each of the seventh generation consoles.

On June 6, 2006, TNA announced that wrestlers Samoa Joe and A.J. Styles, both self-described hardcore gamers, would be meeting with Midway to brainstorm game ideas. Additionally, motion capture work will begin soon for the game, involving Jeff Jarrett and A.J. Styles. In an interview with IGN.com, Samoa Joe has said that he lives close to Midway Studios Los Angeles and stops in whenever he has time to see how the game is coming and give the team at Midway new ideas. He says "They are very receptive to my ideas."

Scans of the members of the TNA roster occurred during a taping for TNA iMPACT! on October 23, 2006.[2] They also previewed the model for A.J. Styles to be used in the game. Those shown the model were reportedly "blown away" by the detail of the model, which included a scar from a busted lip sustained by Styles in a match by Samoa Joe earlier in the year. The boos, cheers, and various chants were also captured by computer for use as the official audio in the game.[3]

The game's trailer debuted on television with a 15-second clip during the 2006 Spike TV Video Game Awards on December 13, 2006. Minutes prior, a more complete 30-second preview was put up on IGN with a short article[4] linking to it.

Plat Forms:

I'm not impressd with the graphic's at all. Hopefully the game play is good. I've got a horrible feeling it's going to be really out of date. With Jeff Hardy & Monty Brown still in it. No Angle or LAX. It seem's like it's been in developement for age's.

Dont say that the mortal Kombat games

The roster isn't even close to being finalized at this point so any true speculation is just that: speculation. I don't mind if the graphics aren't groundbreaking. Gameplay depth and amount of features are what I look for in a wrestling title. Looking at WWE: Day of Reckoning and some of the entries of the Fire Pro Series are where they should have their heads at. Those games are ten times better in terms of pickup and play game quality than a vast majority of their counterparts. The grapple system is tried-and-true. The CAW function is awesome in the first DOR. I personally don't even wish to see groundbreaking graphics. Instead, I'd trade that for a faster speed and for MORE CHARACTERS ONSCREEN AT ONCE. That is the big thing that always makes the Royal Rumble feature in any of the WWE games complete and utter $hit. Not very "Royal" when you can only have four guys in the ring at one time. Lame. I just hope that Midway doesn't spend all the time spit-polishing the look of the game and forget about the gameplay. If the gameplay is absent, then it's just a really shiny turd.

Dont think this will be out on ps2 so just not going even think of wanting it.

ye, i'm a little fed up that the game isn't available on ps2. TNA should respect that not everyone can afford £425 for the ps3.

Remember, this is just the early stages of the game. I'm sure they are updating every day trying to get it ready for next year. IMO this game will sell. The roster of course would have almost everyone since TNA doesnt add new people to there roster as fast as WWE. Which isnt neccasarily a bad thing. The graphics imo seem good. It is like the Impact Zone. I just wish they could of done more details on the crowd. Also these are just pictures so unless more clips come out showing you the graphics I wouldnt judge.
