It really is. What was so great about it was how they took this utopian view of the future that Roddenberry had come up with and just... fucked it anally.

Everything was all goodness and light up till that point... dealing with the Romulans and even the Borg, the Federation was still able to maintain that almost holier-than-thou sense of moral superiority. And then along comes the Dominion and all that just goes out the window.

Sisko was the barometer for that, too. He starts out as a perfectly even, normal guy and by the end of the Dominion Wars, he's just ruthless. You can't not love that.
