The Official Election Night Bash @ Wrestlezone's Forums

It's official: The 44th President of the United States of America will be Barack Obama.

I actually just shed a tear. I hope everyone here realizes just how important of a moment in history this truly is.

Cyber toast?

*raises glass*

no. Absolutely not. I do not owe middle class Americans anything
Good fuckin' lord Brian, PAY ATTENTION!

You don't owe it to people you don't know, you owe it to the economy and the country that made you rich! Jesus Christ, do you have no sense of collective responsbility? Obama is not going to march up to your doorstep, hold out his hand, and say, "hand over your money, I got a muddy black family down the street to feed". However, he IS going to support policies that will NOT give advantageous to people who are already receiving advantageous positions. He WILL support those who work their asses off to make the economy run, but either don't or can't work in a position that will make them wealthy.

Let's put it like this Brian, and you can't even argue this point.

The United States of America have followed YOUR preference of economics for the last eight years. Just tonight, the USA elected its FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT to replace a President with approval ratings in the low 20s.

Just think about the significance of that for a moment.

Yes, because their daddies, and their daddies' daddies before them exploited people for their own personal gain.

Are you saying that the majority of today's rich inherit their wealth? Because thats not true.

A study by Spectrem Group found that among today’s millionaires, inherited wealth accounted for just 2% of their total sources of wealth.
According to a study by Prince & Associates, less than 10% of today’s multi-millionaires cited “inheritance” as their source of wealth.

Rich people don't just sit back and live of their parents success Sly. They worked to get where they're at today, and they should be able to enjoy the fruits of their success.

I'll admit that I don't understand the economy that well(Who honestly does?), but wouldn't putting higher taxes on big buisinesses just discourage them from doing more business, thus hurting the economy even more?

I too have never been prouder to be an American. After I voted tonight and as I left the polling center I just had this feeling in me; it was probably the first time in my life I truly, truly appreciated the fact that we are a free people who have the right to vote. Not the luxury, but the right.

We as a country may have made many a mistake in our past (and there's still one going on over in Iraq) but god damnit this is the land of the free.

Sly is just saying to give back to the country that helped you earn that success.

You can feel it in the air. Hell, I even heard some people screaming of happiness across the streets! Hopefully this mark the comeback of the USA as a true World leader.

I just want to hear McJohnny conceding, come on CNN, make it happen!

What the? I don't owe the economy anything either. I buy my goods on a weekly basis. Rich people also help the economy.

But that family wealth PUT THEM IN THE SITUATION TO MAKE THAT WEALTH.

Very few millionaires are self-made. And I say this knowing full well that the man my mother married was self-made. I'm around people who are. But most are not. Most of the wealthy come from wealthy families.

Rich people don't just sit back and live of their parents success Sly. They worked to get where they're at today, and they should be able to enjoy the fruits of their success.
But they were still put in positions to be wealthy, based upon the wealth of their elders.

Not at all. If anything it would ENCOURAGE businesses to do more business, that way they can improve their revenue and thus have more money after taxes.

Not only that, it's HOW the taxes are applied. If you tax those who outsource jobs to other countries, you encourage businesses to keep jobs in America, thus increasing the amount of money changing hands in the economy.

Here's how my economics teacher in high school explained it to me, and it always made perfect sense.

You have two situations, Situation 1 and Situation 2. In both Situations, there is $100 in the economy, and a car costs $10 in the economy.

In Situation 1, you have ONE person who has $100 dollars. In Situation 2, you have TEN people who have $10. In both Situations, ten separate cars can be purchased.

But how many times is one person going to buy 10 cars?

Look at Jesse Jackson crying...and now look at McCain's forced little smile on. HARDY-FUCKING-HA!
