The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

How is it that NXT just gets better while Smackdown is filled with crap? Something is wrong with your booking if your #2 show is twice as long and way less interesting as your developmental show.

It goes beyond the fact some of us have followed some of these guys for a bit now. (Sami, Leo, etc...) The promo's, matches and overall feel of the show is just great. There is a huge problem that needs to be addressed when I care more about the NXT roster than I do the World Heavyweight Champion & I highly doubt I am alone in that thought.

The tv deal will surely help exposure and that is a great thing because more people need to watch whats happening down there. It is pure gold & now they add JBL? Simply a fantastic idea.
1. It's an hour a week. Less time to add in nonsense.

2. The bigger reason: wrestling people know how to book wrestling shows. It's not like booking regular shows where things build to a season finale. It's about setting up the next week with a wide rotating cast of characters. They know how to build wrestling stories and characters instead of sports entertainment with a bunch of nonsense. It's proof that the old methods can still work wonders but WWE's main shows keep overthinking it.

Keep it simple, stupid. But please, let's not do the whole "wrestling versus sports entertainment" thing - I've just had dinner.

I'm trying to think who the next NXT talent up could be. History suggests the champion, but I don't see where Bo fits in. Still, I suppose it didn't stop them before.

Zayn's got a few months yet, you'd imagine, and Kassius Ohno is too busy cutting cringeworthy, CM Punk wannabe promos to be able to keep up with that sort of schedule.

I'd hope for Leo Kruger, but I think he just looks a bit too much like Roman Reigns. No, I seriously think that is handicapping him.

That really is quite true. It is a shame that so much of the tried and true ways of doing things are lost today. I miss the old days of how things worked and played out, but understand the progression to what we have today. With things being so over done they tend to forget the simple formulas that make a show great to watch.

Tone down all the social media\reality tv crap and lets get back to basics a bit. I would much rather enjoy a well done 1-2 hr show as opposed to getting frustrated with a 3 hr show filled with Touts, Tweets, Apps, etc.

Simple booking & simple storylines have worked for many years. It doesnt mean you are booking for simple people, but that you are cutting out all the bullshit and giving us something simply enjoyable.

I would love to see Zayn and Kruger but I fear if they call them up too soon most fans wont care and they will just get lost in the shuffle and poorly used. That would be such a waste. They are both damn ready and fantastic to watch.

Unfortunately what is working in NXT from a gimmick standpoint- might not work on RAW\SD. Exposure to a larger crowd can be huge, but it can also ruin. The smaller crowd has a great energy and it shows on screen. Little things that make people like Enzo and others great on NXT may not translate the same and would just kill the characters.

The NXT title....second most prestigous title in the WWE currently.

Good show this week. About fucking time The Ascension wins the tag title.

That was an absolutely spectacular episode. Let's just bullet point it:

  • Fun Fandango/Santino silliness.
  • The Ascension rise. Great match too.
  • The birth of a new star. That guy.
  • The return of El Generico. Sort of.

I'm beaming. I think I need a cigarette.

Edit: And the Kassius Ohno/Luke Harper match was fine. I think Ohno's lost some weight. Still doesn't know how to wear a jacket though. Both shoulders, mate!

Oh my God, I absolutely fucking died at the "Let's go this guy!" chants. I can't breath.

All of this. Still don't get the appeal of Corey Graves though. Hopefully the upcoming shows can change that.

Over the years, I've read enough poor e-fedding to know cool guy grunge characters with skinny jeans and lots of tattoos are popular. The likes of Jeff Hardy were just scratching the surface - Graves will tap deep into that rich vein, I'm sure. His name's still Corey though, can't change that. That's a name what belongs on the cover of Non-Threatening Boys Magazine.

Please nobody point out that Zayn is the name of one of the members of One Direction. Cheers.

I feared for your life after that episode, sam. Especially the Generico mask.

Fuckin' Ascension. Finally.

As much as I get butterflies when I look into his dreamy features, I have never seen anything particularly special out of a corey graves match. It worries me that he has NEVER had a match that ranks even above average.

Enzo and Big Cass were awesome too.

Ohno looks like he has improved his workout attitude.

On the contrary, NorCal - I've never felt more alive.

Funny, it only occurred to be during the main event that Sami would enter the match under a mask. You would have thought I'd have seen that one coming.

I realised just how much I like both Leo Kruger and Antonio Cesaro. Kruger needs to be on the main roster yesterday. "But Sam, they probably don't have anything for him!" Well, that didn't stop them with the Wyatt family, did it? Talk about spinning wheels.

I cannot believe the NXT crowd had the balls to chant "You can't wrestle!" at Rick Vicktor. Or were they chanting it at Corey Graves? I don't necessarily want to rub myself up against Graves on a busy train but he can definitely wrestle.

Edit: Am I the only one who loved how O'Brian tore Vicktor off the pin? It was probably a botch but it was like the head of a pride pushing a lesser male out of the way to feed. And they say wrestling is homoerotic!

Chanting "You can't wrestle" at a Hart Dungeon graduate is hilarious. I'm not sold on O'Brian as a ring worker but Victor is a good hand in the ring. Still miss the pitch of Cameron's scream. Victor needs to get rid of those red tights yesterday. Black is the primary colour stick with it.

O'Brian needs to get rid of that name yesterday.

EDIT: And in the presentation videos, Ascension had some fantastic looking glowing book. They should use that to explain themselves a bit more, backstory is a good thing.

A wonderful show, but I want Kruger on the main roster so badly. He's been down there for so long, and he deserves a chance. His promo work with the South African accent has been pretty good, he's great in the ring. His entrance with the darkness and the single spotlight on him would be epic on a Raw-sized stage. Or imagine it at Wrestlemania? He's just too good to be in NXT anymore...

At the other end of the spectrum, I know Ohno has only had one promo and one match since he's been back, but dating as far back as the month he debuted, I've been praying for him to give me a reason to be excited about him. Everyone says how good Chris Hero is, but I haven't seen anything from him yet. And it's not like it's because NXT is hampering his potential, Sami Zayn has been doing just fine, just like Ambrose and Rollins before him. Hopefully, now that he seems to have some kind of work out regime, he'll get some decent length matches and actually show whether or not he's as good as they say.

So I decided to see NXT this week. A few things about the show:

1. Alex Riley and Renee Young seem to good at commentary.
2. Neville should get a spot in the Rumble.
3. Lets go this guy :lmao:
4. Bo Dallas has a worse spear than Christian.
5. The crowd is awesome.
6. I definitely need to watch this every week.

I want Neville to get a spot just to hear his Geordie "Going to Wrestlemania" promo again.

He's spent years traveling the world and keeps it. I've spent years in Newcastle and lose it.

Corey Graves is raw sex appeal. Women want him. Men want to be him. Unless you're already a more-than-adequate man. I'm looking at you, NorCal.

Anyway, nice work by my girl Renee. Very refreshing to hear a female voice on commentary. Keep on breaking those boundaries, gurrrrl.

Now, I'm all for improving the role of women in wrestling - specifically by hiring women with actual talent - but let's not pretend that was more than adequate commentary.

As if a woman could be any better than adequate!

That's better. This thread was getting a little too pro-equality for my tastes.

Once AJ Lee stops being one of the best wrestlers in the world, I'm all for her getting a permanent commentary position.

She used to work in Canada. So she's more than adequate!
