The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

During Cesaro vs. Kruger this week:

Kruger: KRUUUUUGAAAH!

Some of the crowd: KRUUUUUGAAAH!

One very audible man in the crowd: CESAAAAROOOO!

I love the NXT crowd so much. If WWE could get crowd like that at all their shows, it would be so much more enjoyable to watch.

Kruger versus Cesaro is boring me. Is it because heel versus heel never, ever, ever works? I certainly hope so. It did get significantly more watchable when Cesaro entered beast mode and started ragdolling Kruger, but that's just cheating. Cesaro should just play a face in NXT.

Nice to see RVD making his final appearance in WWE (for now) against Aiden English of all people.

Bit of a filler week overall but that's probably better for my health. I thought the stores were putting out Christmas stuff early, then I remembered we were having it on October 16th this year:

Well, that was the point that it stopped being heel vs heel and started being heel vs face who refuses to stay down so it's not really cheating, just a well put together match which I fucking loved.

I don't think Kruger's 'face turn' worked. Like, at all. Cesaro came in the comfortably more popular and left as such. No doubt a side effect of wrestling like Hercules.

If crowd reactions were the be-all and end-all, John Cena would be a heel. What someone does is just as important, and Kruger was wrestling like a face at the end of the match. Fuck, Cesaro dropped a knee on the guy's throat after the match. You don't get a whole lot more heelish than beating on a guy who can't fight back.

I watched the ladies match. I think that Santino/Emma tag last week has broadened my horizons.

I'd agree, but I don't think the execution was particularly good either. Kruger was the plucky babyface that wouldn't stay down, which is all well and good until you realise the guy beating him up is throwing him about like he's The Terminator. Cesaro, to his downfall, is brilliantly entertaining to watch.

I think the heel/face perception is different from NXT to WWE. Cena gets booed, yeah, but he also gets enough cheers, which, coupled with his behaviour, cements him as a face.

But WWE crowds are diverse, while NXT crowds are mostly made up of hardcore wrestling fans. Cesaro just gets way too many people on his side when he's working in NXT, so he's practically a face, which really hurt Kruger's attempt to get cheers. It's like like how Bo Dallas was booed constantly by the NXT crowd till they had no choice but to book him as a heel, despite trying desperately to book him as a face. The NXT crowd is samey and vocal enough so that what they say goes, essentially.

Either way, I love Kruger no matter what he does. I want to have his creepy South African babies.

That woman who wrestled Charolette....she was quite dashing, and very advanced in the ring for someone I imagine is stll young in their carreer....had to be a decent hand with being trusted to lead someone as green as Lette' around.

Odd theme music for the legionaires. Nothing approaching the badassness of Dawson's music before.

Odd, odd moveset for Mojo Rawley.

Good show.

I can't tell you how amused I am by William Regal's commentary. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate how rough and ready it is, it just always gets me grinning. "It's like sitting next to Benny Hill!" Nobody but nobody who watches NXT will get that reference but me, and even I'm twenty years too young for it.

Some good news this week - I have found myself on the Corey Graves Express. Choo choo - time to get skinnier skinny jeans! This was prior to the heel turn, by the way; I'm not that irritatingly fickle. You see, I noticed that he throws the best punches in wrestling since Razor Ramon. Razor Ramon, coincidentally enough, threw the best punches in wrestling.

The Ascension are, of course, still absolutely terrific. That's a given at this point.

Nice to see Tyler Breeze. Nice to hear Tyler Breeze's theme music.

I would ruin Sasha Banks. Well, ruin her evening at least.

And last but not least - and I don't even want to type this, as if this actually makes it real - Sami Zayn didn't win the NXT Championship. Could-- could one of you come over and, you know, just hold me for a bit? I don't think I want to be alone tonight.

Tonight is a very big show for NXT as we FINALLY get the showdown between Sami Zayn and Bo Dallas. This is a match that’s been built up for months now and tonight is the blowoff. Imagine that: setting up match and building up to it for months as the fans want to see it more and more. Why is that so complicated? Let’s get to it.

Regal's reaction to Renee talking about Breeze was... I don't even have a word for it.

EEEEVERYBODY got that reference, bro...

My favourite Tyler Breeze moment so far was when Leo Kruger and the Ascension walked out on him during a tag match. That's fun writing and good heeling.

NXT star Sami Zayn has been touted by WWE officials and is believed to be very good, However, The Observer is reporting that WWE wants him to stop climbing the ropes so much and playing to the crowd. It's said Vince McMahon is not a fan of stars doing that.

Assuming this is true, I would love to hear Vince explain why having the faces play to the crowd is such a bad idea. It's like they try to find things wrong with guys.
