The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

I was honestly hesitant that they were going again, but having seen it, I could watch Revival versus Alpha forever.

It's a completely different match every time. They always put something new over on each other, and Revival are always playing some new bastard tactic to win.

Also how cute is that pic of Nakamura with Balor's parents

It’s a big show this week as we’ve finally reached the showdown between Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura. This is another instance of NXT building up a match to be a huge deal and it’s made things feel even bigger than they would have otherwise. It’s likely that the winner will face Samoa Joe for the title in Brooklyn at the next Takeover. Let’s get to it.

One More Match

Again, Finn didn't really seem to get out of second gear, so I'm starting to doubt he even can anymore.

Good TV match obviously, but not as good as Sami vs Nakamura. Also, the commercial breaks were infuriating, seeing as they own the fucking network and should have just not had the breaks to interrupt the flow of the match.

The lad has been pretty meh in my book for 90% of his stay so far. I started referring to him as Not Neville because I have found myself thinking how much more entertaining some of his matches would have been had he been replaced with the King of Space Wizards.

If Finn doesnt turn it up to 11 upon his main roster debut, this may become a very expensive case of the should have been's.

...what?

Just because he has underwhelming matches doesn't mean he'll be a failure. Half the roster has underwhelming matches and it's fine.

He sells T-Shirts to grown men, face paint to little kids and erotic fanfiction to women. He's a walking cash cow and he'll be a roaring success, just with always slightly shitter matches than you're expecting.

Yep. Hence why he was the face of NXT during its biggest growth period and will be a huge star up top. If he was a little younger I wouldn't be surprised to see him get the Sheamus/Roman Reigns treatment

I'm getting kinda sick of Rhyno.

I feel ya.

His initial return was cool for the nostalgia and total randomness factor and I think he helped Corbin a decent amount, but, to me at least, he doesn't offer much else going forward.

It was. People are stupid.

I don't normally get emotional watching wrestling, but Finn knew it was his last match in NXT, and he was barely containing his tears at the end. Feels.

Mark.

Actually, you never talk to me anymore B-Lad, how you doing these days?

Yeah I don't get why anybody would be talking shit about Finn or the match after watching it. I thought it was a great match and a good swan song for Finn as I'm sure he's debuting Tuesday night or at Battleground.

Never said the match was shit. Just saying he has not really clicked with me & for such a big name, I thought he would have been putting up better showings. His NXT stuff for the most part has been less than what I have seen him do on a pretty consistent basis. Since his debut I have been caring less and less. Maybe it is just that time to leave & the move is all he needs to get back to being bad ass.

Rewatching the match, the thing I noticed was that Nakamura was letting the match down. The sudden non-selling of the knee was really annoying. But Finn seems to be getting all the criticism...

Between hitting the Coup de Grace on a running opponent, and that nasty superkick to Nakamura's knee, Finn easily had the best moments of the match.

Yes, I'm a mark for Finn, but I'm being pretty objective here.

Pretty awesome, but it's missing Bayley.

Again, not saying the match was bad, but Finn just hasn't had an all time classic match in NXT yet, whereas everyone expects Nakamura to have 5 star classics after his match with Zayn.

Finn is still a tremendous wrestler, but he's just not quite at that level, even though there's this expectation that he should be banging out all time classics.

Bayley is the only clear true successor to John Cena at this point. Think about it. If handled right, she could be the best person WWE has in terms of PR, appearances, merch, etc. Potentially she would be most super over babyface of the last 20 years.

I think all that could be true for Sami Zayn as well.
