Just finished reading this thread and loved it. Really looking forward to seeing more.
In regards to Santino, I read something that might be of interest. It was a Top 10 list about guys who were getting booked poorly. Oddly enough, Santino was on the list. According to the writer, Santino could've been this generation's version of The Rock, considering both his excellent promo skills and MMA background. Problem being, WWE just views him as a silly Italian stereotype.
Your thoughts on this?
I deserve it.
Not to good to be honest.
I'm am going to apologise for what I said yesterday/earlier. It was uncalled for on my part. I basically wrote it because I am pretty sur it was you that did a thread on trying to leave or something, and I saw all the hate. So I figured that no one would read it.
I do apologise.
I really don't get why people would shit all over RAW just because it was the 900th episode. Doesn't necessarily mean they have to make it special. This weeks RAW did what it was ment to do, further some feuds, further some storylines and it had a lot of great mark-out periods for certain fans I'm sure.
I for one marked out numerous times during that episode. I marked out for Undertaker vs Bret (I was fucking bummed for it not happening). I marked out for Wasteland on Undertaker, I marked out for the CM Punk / Big Show promo (hell I marked out numerous times during that promo).
And while some of it might not have been the biggest of mark-outs that could've been demanded, I still think that it did more than fine. And that just because it's a "milestone" (I wouldn't call 900 a milestone, 1000 sure? 500? sure, but then again, WWE did something special for the 800th episode, I don't get it though) people will shit all over it for not delivering beyond what really made sense.
I barely paid attention to NXT, I pretty much just scrolled through the most of it, and pretty much just skipped half of the beat down. I had zero interest in it, because all I could think of is "Yeah, been there, done that and I sure as fuck don't care about you guys, I'd rather watch Nexus in there".
Also I'm seriously in doubt kidnapping and leaving LayCool off television to get contracts would accomplish anything, especially not heat when considering LayCool are heels as well. Besides, it would fuck up the divas division to leave out the best thing they have going.
But that's the thing though. Why build it up as a special episode of Raw when there are no major happenings and the best moment came from two Smackdown superstars. I think the main thing Ferbian is, after the last few months of Raw progressively upping it's game, it's obvious that they would have got so much better with it on supposedly a special Raw event.
I'm surprised you marked out for the Wastelands on Taker, I figured it would have been for the 450 Splash. When was the last time you saw the Phenom take a high-flying move like that?
Yeah I get that. But really it still served it's purpose and it was a decent episode that gets way more shit than it's warranted. The episode did what it was supposed to do, hype Night of Champions, and hype storylines we've been seeing for the past 2 months period, and obviously are still continuing. How could we possibly complain about that?
I'm a Wade Barrett fan to the bone mate. I marked out for the lights going out, and Undertaker being up on the shoulders of Wade when the lights reappared. The 450 Splash was predictable, because it ends that shit every time. The fact that the lights out had me wondering "whats next" only made the Wasteland so much better.
The lights out could've signaled for many other things, like Undertaker being gone, The Nexus being surrounding Undertaker but not on the attack already, and Kane back in the ring. Any of those things really, so I was ecstatic that it was actually the Wasteland setup that popped back on. Especially knowing the "irony" in it all, considering Undertaker usually pops out of nowhere with the hand on the throat of his opponent / his opponents already laid the fuck out (Rey Mysterio vs Batista 2009 anyone?)
It's not so much I think the show was shit, as I stated it was good for a normal run-of-the-mill Raw, but it was extremely underwhelming for a 900th Raw episode that they even go through the trouble of changing the Raw graphic and adding the big dramatic highlight video at the beginning. To summarise it, this Raw was the live wrestling show equivilant of HHH vs. Orton from WM 25. And if you thought that was not underwhelming, then I'm afraid I can't see you any more Ferbian.
My problem with that as I've stated before, I can't stand seeing Kane and him constantly try to outdisappear each other. After a while, the magic runs off. I think it would have made a lot more impact to have Kane and Taker in the ring, then the lights go out, only to reveal that now Wade and the rest of Nexus were in the ring surrounding both Taker and Bret. The Wastelands and the 450 Splash still would have came off good.
You're saying that you're sick of seeing Justin do the 450 at the end all the time? Dude, this is pro wrestling, everyone does everything the same at the end of their matches/beatdowns, all the time. When was the last time you saw a Edge match end without a Spear? Or a Orton without a RKO? Wrestling is all about routine buddy, it's so that the audience can build a relationship and tune in to see them do the same routine again.
I thought the Triple H vs Orton match at Wrestlemania 25 was more than decent. I agree with the statement that Orton had about it though, that it hurt the match that they weren't allowed to have a no disqualification no count-out kind of match. The stipulation of Triple H only being able to win cleanly to retain fucked with the match. Other than that, I think it was more than fine.
And the same was the show, it didn't need to be anything major
I've never been too hyped for the black out myself no. But I like it when Undertaker does it to appear, not to disappear / reappear / mess with someone. Once every now and then is fine.
Dude I never said I was sick of seeing it. I said it was predictable and we knew it was gonna happen as soon as they had Undertaker beaten down. Where as the Wasteland is a move we only get to see like 30% of the time, and it made for a much better thing that we actually got to see it after a black-out.
Macca, what part of Adelaide are you from?
If I hadn't seen HHH-Orton Last Man Standing at No Mercy 07 then I might agree with you. That was exactly what we should have seen at Mania to address the issues they had. The No DQ and No CO did harm it, but not as much as the sequence of HHH squashing Randy for 2-3 minutes with a sledgehammer before hitting a pedigree and making the pin there and then. It was like the hot air completely evaporated in Reliant Stadium. Say what you want about who should have won that match, but there was no denying that the ending was not worthy of finishing the night off, with or without HBK-Taker on the same card. Watch the crowd when the bell rings, there's plenty of witnesses there that night who will testify to that.
Granted, Raw isn't a Wrestlemania, but I still expect them to make the best show possible. That's what the biggest professional wrestling show in the world for over a decade should do. If I was looking for a decent show with one or two nice moments, I'd tune into Spike every Thursday night. Zing.
I agree with that, however, since Taker's returned, that's all he seems to do, is the blackout game. He's using it a few too many times in the space of a few weeks. And all that does is take away from it.
My issue wasn't with the Wasteland after the blackout, but rather the way they set it up. Another example of how it could have played out is Wade not coming out, Kane and Taker having a confrontation, the lights go out, and when they come back on, Kane is gone, Nexus are in the ring, and Wade has Taker hoisted up.
There, everyone's happy now.
