The Dark Knight: Contains Spoilers

Any news on this? I'm starting to get really hyped up about this. Spider-Man is the best hero? Pffft, kiss my arse. Although Heath Ledger's Joker is pissing me off, I can't decide whether he's good or not.

Hot damn, I'm Mrs. Sam!!

Agreed. I change my mind every time there's a new bit of info.

Rumours I've heard latley.

The Penguin will not in fact be making an appearence like he was supposed to. Not even for a few minutes in the second or third.

But Catwoman will. Apparently Selina Kyle will be mentioned in The Dark Knight and you might see a mysterious creature crawling along rooftops in the background but that's it. But she's supposed to have a substantial role in the third one. Possibly as the fuck up junkie verion from The Dark Knight Returns novel.

There you go Mrs. Sam

What's the point of that? To give a fucking minuscule sneak peak at what's to come at the sacrifice of distracting the audience from this film? Makes no sense to me. For me, there's too many villains in this film. Even if only one plays a major role, it's distracting. You know, I've never read many Batman comics, even though I loved the animated series - that is what Batman is for me. Anything particularly good Joker-related that someone can recommend?

Hot damn, I'm Mrs. Sam!!

When it comes to graphic novels the rules pretty much is this: If The Jokers on the front cover then he's being particularly evil in it, therefore worth buying.

The villain thing is pissing me off as well. The film has The Joker so I dont see the need in having The Riddler, a fake Batman and possibly another villain. Not bothered about Tw-Face though as he'll only be a villain for my guess about the last 10 min of the second, possibly not even until the begining of the third.

I've just been watching the teaser trailer again, and I was wondering: am I the only one really not getting the laugh? I mean, I think it should sound a bit more natural, a bit more hysterical. Instead (mostly because of the "hoo" sound that proceeds it) it sounds like a fucking chimp chuckling. The laugh is a big part of the Joker character, and if they Ledger can't get it right no one will accept him. At least, not the Batfans.

If anything, it sounds more Cesar Romero-ish.

Besides, it's only a TEASER! I'm not ready to say anything about it until I see an actual trailer (only 1 month and a bit!!).

I will say this though, I was incredibly pissed off to find out, after weeks of speculation, that Anthony Michael Hall is playing a fucking reporter!!! No big major character (which was expected, since his character was kept under wraps for so long), just a reporter. I hope Joker kills him off first.

Then I hope the Edward Nigma rumours are false. No need to see him imo. There's too many characters as I've said ebfore.

It’s the sort of thing that no one ever wants to happen on a production – but very occasionally does… A special effects technician was killed while performing a dummy run for a stunt on the new Batman film at a racetrack near Chertsey.

The man hasn’t been named, but Warner Brothers did release a statement: "There was a fatal accident at a special effects facility for The Dark Knight. A special effects technician on the film was in a truck that struck a tree at the end of a test run-through."

None of the main cast and crew was apparently involved, and it didn’t happen during actual shooting, though it’s reported that the vehicle was following a stunt car, possibly the Batmobile. A sad day for all involved.

As sorry as I am for the man who died, and his family of course, I hope this doesn't delay the film. Surely he'd want the work he died creating to be displayed to the world as soon as possible?

Anyway, I think that the Batcycle (or whatever name they've given it) is completely unnecessary. It takes you out of your suspension of disbelief entirely. If you want it to be a realistic, believable film, make it believable. Don't pack it full of the comical, whacky elements that just pull you out of the gritty, dark world created in Batman Begins. Go on as you fucking started, no U-turns please!

I agree. I liked in the first how he kind of found the Batmobile. Surley if the Batcycle was in the same place as the Batmobile Fox would have showed it to him as well? To just have it appear in The Dark Knight is stupid. Could he really have something like that built and not have anybody click? There's no need for it.

It could be like Fox says, "Check this out, a weaponised motorcycle. The reason we haven't given this one to the army is, quite frankly, it looks fucking stupid." Are those machine guns on the side? What the fuck is that? Am I the only one that thinks it looks a bit silly? Even more so than any of the ones out of the comics or cartoons.

While I'm on it, I thought the fact that Fox just lent him the missiles along with the Batmobile (or "tumbler") was a bit odd, considering he didn't have that big a clue what Bruce was going to do with them at the time. OK, so it's all his anyway, but still, show some responsibilty!

Shouldn't knock anything until you see the movie. Maybe I'm just being optimistic but I'm looking forward to how everything comes together, such as Heath Ledger as the Joker and the "Batpod".

Definitely looking forward to the new Rachel Dawes. Katie Holmes killed it for me in Batman Begins.

If you go and see I Am Legend at an IMAX cinema you get a 7 minute Joker oragin story. Not sure if it will feature in the film, but it sounds good. Hopefully it doesn't. Considering the end of Batman already had The Joker as a criminal I don't think they need to show it. Unless it's a pre-credit thing.

See you in December, ahh, it makes sense now from that Website message all those months ago. Everyone thought it would be the full trailer, but it looks to be this six minute vignette.

Plus, didn't they say they filmed the Joker for an Imax screen? This could be it. Personally, any tidbits I can get from this movie, I'm taking. Honestly, this movie is going to blow away any other movie from it's genre. It has the making of something incredibly special.

If you've ventured over to whysoserious.com, the viral site for The Dark Knight, recently, you will have seen a pumpkin containing a candle that has been slowly melting away. That pumpkin has now disappeared and been replaced by another little game in The Joker's twisted promotional scheme.

We think this might be one only for those in America, or those who are so Joker obsessed as to be willing to hop on a plane immediately. We're guessing that each of the letters that have been cut out are from signs on bars or shops within each of the towns mentioned. Who knows what might be revealed when all the relevant photos have been submitted, but we guess it might be something to do with two face, since one side of the face of the pumpkin was starting to rot. If anyone has any better idea, please post away.

Anyway, stay tuned to Empire and to whysoserious to see what happens next. Oooh, exciting!

The hype for this film has been awesome. Gret promotion. There probably doing it like this because of the lack of Batman in the title. The last one underperformed at the box office so I don't think Warner Bros are taking any chances.

There’s a new picture of The Joker from The Dark Knight online – and a new line of dialogue, spoken by Heath Ledger. And, true to form for the Clown Prince of Crime, accessing them wasn’t easy.

Yesterday, we reported that the Dark Knight viral site, whysoserious.com, had posted details of a new game for its readers (in America only, sadly) to play, which resulted in uncovering a new message from the Joker. That message read, ‘The Only Sensible Way To Live In This World Is Without Rules’, which pretty much sums up the Joker’s worldview.

Now that each letter has been revealed, the photo that was lurking underneath the message can be clicked on. Do so, and you’ll find a new picture of Heath Ledger’s Joker sitting in a car, with a masked henchman at the wheel in front of him.

Not only is this possibly our clearest glimpse of The Joker so far, indicating that his white face is criss-crossed with tiny scars, but we also get to hear a new line of dialogue from the film, in which Ledger (in that deep, smoky drawl that he’s chosen for The Joker) announces, “And tonight, you’re going to break your one rule.”

Now this is intriguing. Empire’s first reaction is that this is a line spoken to Batman, whose one rule – famously – is ‘don’t kill anyone’? Is The Joker going to try and goad the Caped Crusader into stepping over the line in Chris Nolan’s sequel?

But the fun’n’games don’t stop there. Clicking on the scalpel that overlays the new Joker pic will take you to another new game, called Rory’s Death Kiss. Now, so far, there isn’t a character called Rory credited for The Dark Knight, so we’re not quite sure who Rory is. But we're worried for him.

Anyway, the game asks for readers to take pictures of themselves on Halloween night, dressed as The Joker. “Do this for me… and I’ll do something to for you,” says The Joker, in a note.

Obviously, the game is now over, so we have to wait and see what the new Bat-nemesis has up his sleeve. The game is afoot – and we’re just wondering when Batman himself is going to get in on all this viral marketing stuff.

don't know if you guys have seen these yet... just came across em

This is probably the greatest case of viral marketing I have ever seen. The hype for this movie and the loyalty of the fans to do this is insane. This movie is easily going to top anything that comes out next summer. I don't think they need to worry about Batman not being in the name. Batman will be everywhere next summer, and people will know the Dark Knight. God this movie, can the hype really live up to this movie?

i loved batman begins my favorite batman i cant wait to see heath ledger and aaron eckhart as badguys they have huge shoes to fill with jack nicholson/burgess meredith and tommy lee jones who played as the joker and two face in previous batmans

Anybody who took part in the recent Dark Knight viral campaign, which encouraged users to send in pictures of them in Joker-esque garb, will have received an email telling them to look out for The Gotham Times. Well, you can now find that here at thegothamtimes.com.

There's a ton to read over in this and we're still making our way through it. But there are numerous references to Harvey Dent, sitings of clown gangs, Bruce Wayne's now apparently wild ways. All, it seems, is not happy in Gotham. We're betting there are loads of clues and paths to other hidden sites in here. We're going to start pawing over it, but if you find anything new and cool in the meantime please leave it in the comments below. We tried calling the subscription number on the first page, but couldn't access it outside the US. We LOVE this movie's marketing campaign.

As we know, we will soon be seeing a new trailer for The Dark Knight in the form of a prologue to the movie, which tells the story of how The Joker became the comic book world's most feared make-up wearing murderer. Today we get a small sneak peek at that thanks to an Imax featurette here.

Christopher Nolan has shot several sequences from the film in the Imax format, including the Joker prologue. We don't actually get to see any footage of the villain in this clip, but, hey, it's The Dark Knight, so we'll paw over any new information that comes our way. Plus there's almost nothing going on today thanks to America's silly turkey based holidays. Also, the DoP's name is Wally Pfister. Teehee, we said fister.

Loads more info. Can't wait fro the prologue. If this film is anything other than perfect it will be a total dissapointment. I think the promotion for it could possibly be too good. I can't wait for it so It's just bound to feel short of expectations.

Do you believe we have to wait till June July next year for this damn movie? And how much there already hyping it up? People are going to go nuts when this movie finally comes out;

has anyone seen the new site up? Its a safe and you have a crack the code.. nobody has got into it yet.. wonder what it could be

It seems every movie these days has to have a viral campaign of sorts attached. This is a new marketing direction that could eventually get old but for now....It fucking works! I am all about this shit. Found a bunch more on IGN.com...........enjoy!

more viral sites:

There's one last one that I find pretty cool. The joker gives you a message and has you crack a safe for him. Name of the page is "Why so serious?"

Also check this one out. Rumor has it that there is an application somewhere in here to join Joker's army.

Ahh, the Dark Knight Teaser Poster is here, looks damn good.

There was another site that had 5 more pictures of the Joker on it, went back today and they were all removed, damn it. They were great promo pictures of the Joker, and Heath Ledger looks freakin amazing.

Is this one Shocky. Really good image. It's a shame the article in the magazine isn't much good.

I really don't like that teaser poster. I'd prefer it if it was just the red bat symbol. Maybe it's the background but it looks like a student project to me.

I quite like the teaser poster, but I think they could have done a better job. At least they didn't go for something completely obvious like... well, something completely obvious.

Jake, I saw Empire with the Joker on it but only had small change on me. Is it worth it to go down the road and get it or am I better off watching Diagnosis: Murder?
