Cast a Batman movie

The Future Rises

Thinking Of A New Name..
This a thread for Batman movie fans. With information and trailers slowly being leaked for the new "The Dark Knight Rises" movie coming in 2012. I decided to make a thread and see who would you cast for main role characters in the ultimate Batman movie.

Batman -
Alfred Pennyworth -
The Joker -
Harvey Dent/Two Face -
The Riddler -
Robin -
Batgirl -
Commissioner James Gordon -
Ra's Al Ghul -
Selina Kyle/Catwoman -
The Penguin -
Bane -
Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow -
Sal Maroni -

That's all the characters that I could think of. Feel free to add or remove I know that some/most of them have been confirmed for The Dark Knight Rises with actors playing them or already have been in The Dark Knight and Batman Begins but the idea of this thread is who you would cast as the characters. Me personally I don't know certain actors that can fit into some of these roles so I wanna hear who you think should play them.

Batman - To be honest, I can't really think of anyone. Leonardo DiCaprio could do it, but I fear he wod make it to light and not gritty enough like Bale portrays him. Chris Evans is another posibility.
Alfred Pennyworth - William Petersen. I can see him being the voice of reason in the movie, definitely.
The Joker - Johnny Depp, he's great at playing a clever lunatic. Why not?
Harvey Dent/Two Face - Dominic Monaghan. Can play a fallen hero, excellently.
The Riddler - Terry O' Quinn. Has the aura of mystery in him, see Lost.
Robin - Shia LeBeouff. He makes a great sidekick, see Indiana Jones.
Batgirl - Lydnsy Fonseca. Has that cuteness about her.
Commissioner James Gordon - Matthew Fox, has a disciplinarian look about him.
Ra's Al Ghul - Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
Selina Kyle/Catwoman - Maggie Q
The Penguin - Christophen Walken, plays one hell of a villain.
Bane - No idea. A muscly man though.
Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow - Christoph Waltz, makes a great villain and has that psychotic look about him.
Sal Maroni - Ed Norton perhaps? Sal Maroni is a hard character to cast.
Lucius Fox - I would keep Morgan Freeman, but for the purpose of the thread, I pick Laurence Fishburne. He can play a clever, calculating black man easily.
Rachel Dawes - Marion Cotillard.

Great thread, by the way. I had to put a hell of a lot of thought into it!

This is my dream cast! Notice that i put in more notable comic book villans. I tried to stray as far away from past films that i could, but some people got reused.

Batman - James Franco

Alfred Pennyworth - Christopher Plummer

The Joker - Benicio del Toro

Harvey Dent/Two Face - Clive Owen

The Riddler - Edward Norton

Robin - Elijah Wood

Batgirl - Jessica Alba

Commissioner James Gordon - Gary Oldman

Ra's Al Ghul - Mark Whalburg

Selina Kyle/Catwoman - Christina Ricci

The Penguin - Philip Seymour Hoffman

Bane - Any big guy, you dont need a good actor to play Bane

Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow - Andrew Garfield

The Ventriloquist - Christopher Walken

Poison Ivy - Helena Bonham Carter

Lucious Fox - Morgan Freeman

Black Mask - Jackie Earle Haley

Mr. Freeze - Michael Clarke Duncan

Harley Quinn - Natalie Portman

Dr. Hugo Strange - Hugo Weaving

And if I was making the movie i would give comic greats like Frank Miller and Grant Morrison cameos (And if Alan Moore wanted to he can play a dirty homeless man).

It's funny how you mentioned Christopher Walken as The Penguin considering he played an evil boss in Batman Returns and he was actually kidnapped by The Penguin who was played by Danny Divito in that film. Great casts by the way hope to see more. And it's a shame it looks like "The Dark Knight Rises" Will be Christopher Nolan's last film in his Batman franchise. Which means we won't see a new darker version of The Riddler or The Penguin just like we did with Heath Ledger's Joker.

If I were making Batman, I'd probably lean more toward the older films and make them a bit more comedic while still trying to keep the darkness of the newer movies (if that makes sense). So I would cast actors that have experience in both drama/action and comedy. I'd also like to keep my cast on the young side, I know that's sort of a weird choice since a lot of these characters aren't young, but I feel like it might be more fun to watch that way as long as the quality of actor isn't put behind the age or atractiveness.

Batman - Ryan Gosling. I chose him because George Clooney was my favorite Batman and something about Gosling reminds me of him. I also think he'd play Bruce Wayne (rather than Batman) really well, if you get what I mean. He has that rich boy kind of look to him.

Alfred Pennyworth - Leo DiCaprio
(Since I figure you all know who Leo is, I'm gonna leave off a pic, especially since WZ will only let me post 10 and I have 13 characters here).

The Joker - Jason Segel. I realize this is sort of an odd choice for The Joker, but something about the way he played Vector in Despicable me (which I realize is an animated film, but he still played a villain) gives me the feeling he would make a good Joker.

Harvey Dent/Two Face - Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I think he'd play both the Harvey Dent part and the Two Part really well. He has that sort of versatility.

The Riddler - Neil Patrick Harris.

Robin - Jesse Eisenberg. See Zombieland.

Batgirl - Minka Kelly.

Commissioner James Gordon - Donnie Whalburg.

Selina Kyle/Catwoman - Adrianne Palicki.

The Penguin - Brad Leland.

Bane - Steve Austin.
(Since you all know what he looks like, I don't feel the need to post a pic haha).

Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow - Taylor Kitsch.

Sal Maroni - Jamie Foxx
(Same with a pic here)

I know my choices may seem a bit odd, but to me that's my ideal Batman cast. It would be dark and dramatic and action packed, but also really funny and not cheap laughs and one-liners, but real witty humor.

After seeing some posts I put a lot of thought into it and I came up with a cast of my own. I had to make it two posts cause the images wouldn't fit.

Bruce Wayne/Batman - Christian Bale

Alfred Pennyworth - Michael Caine

Edward Nigma/The Riddler - Johnny Depp

Selena Kyle/Catwoman - Anne Hathaway(already confirmed for Batman 3)

Dick Grayson/Robin - Elijah Wood

I would also like to see Robert Knepper portray some sort of mob villain

By the way. Am I the only one who thinks Robert Knepper looks like an older CM Punk? Just asking.

Well that's my dream cast.

Batman/Bruce Wayne - Gerard Butler

The Joker - Ben Foster (Ledgers was phenomenal hard to recast...)

Killer Croc - Batista

Catwoman - Sophia Bush

The Joker - Ben Foster (Ledgers was phenomenal hard to recast...)

And that's exactly why I didn't even bother thinking of a Joker for my post. I just went for Johnny Depp as The Riddler as the top villian. Ledger's Joker was so great that I don't think anyone can pull off a better version.

Meh the Riddler is such a lame villain anyway.. He was created in a time where leaving clues and riddles was sooo sinister.. but for today's standards and comic books been through the dark and gritty 90s, the Riddler just doesn't cut it ofr a movie.

Nolan was right to go with Bane and Catwoman...

Now I don't know about that. But if you played Batman : Arkham Asylum the video game you'd know that The Riddler would work in the modern age. I mean seriously the game is just like a movie and The Riddler's role is fantastic in it. I mean let's face it Jim Carrey's Riddler was.. well to be honest GAY. And if I know Nolan he can pull off a good script for darker more sinister Riddler.
And to be honest I don't feel that Catwoman and Bane can make good top villains for a Batman movie by themselves. Adding The Penguin and making it a trio would have been great. But we'll see how good "The Dark Knight Rises" is in 2012.

My first post, might as well use it on something I'm pretty big on: I'm also gonna do it with a pro wrestler in parenthesis.

Batman - Jeffrey Dononvan, huge in "Burn Notice" and can do action of course (John Cena cause he is "superman")
Alfred Pennyworth - Mark Harmon, great in NCIS and is believable to know about weapons. (William Regal, older Englishman who can kick ass)
The Joker - Michael C. Hall, creepo dude in "Dexter". (Edge, he just seemed like a crazed SOB whenever he was heel)
Harvey Dent/Two Face - Ryan McPartlin, pretty boy in "Chuck" don't know how he'd be as a bad guy though (Randy Orton, clearly can be psychopathic)
The Riddler - Johnny Depp, who wouldnt want him as it? (CM Punk, he can mess with people's minds)
Robin - Jamie Bell, love him in Defiance (Evan Bourne, baby-faced)
Batgirl - Jennifer Lawrence, I thought she did a good job in "First Class" (Kelly Kelly, youngest looking Diva)
Commissioner James Gordon - Liam Neeson, I know he was Ra's Al Ghul in "Batman Begins" but I just love him as an actor, good guy or bad (Piper, he just seems "copish" to me)
Ra's Al Ghul - Neal McDonough, he was dark and believable in "Desperate Housewives" (Jericho, I just love him heel or face)
Selina Kyle/Catwoman - Yvonne Strahovski, another "Chuck" character and she is hot and can fight (Maryse, i think she's the equilibrium of good looks and decent fighting in the WWE now)
Bane - Vinnie Jones, big dude he can fight (Mason Ryan, big dude)
Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow - James McAvoy, nerdy type of guy who looks to be able to be crazy (Cody Rhodes)

Interesting cast. You know it's funny when I was about to make this thread a few days ago I thought of the idea of making wwe wrestlers as the cast but I just figured since it's in the movie section I shouldn't. Though I wouldn't cast Batgirl as a blonde. And I always thought of CM Punk as The Riddler or The Joker.

Here's my wrestler cast :

Batman/Bruce Wayne - Randy Orton : I'll admit I'm not Orton's biggest fan but he just has the look that says dark superhero plus his voice would fit perfectly with the role.

The Joker - CM Punk : I would cast him as The Riddler but with Edge retired I can't see any current wrestler with a Joker side more than CM Punk. Eat your heart out Sting:lmao:.

Alfred Pennyworth - I would've casted Finaly. I'm pretty much sure he can pull off a British accent. But since I don't even know what he's doing right now I'll just go with William Regal.

Harvey Dent/Two Face - Cody Rhodes : Cody Rhodes' current "disfigured" character always reminds me of Harvey Two Face. The fact that he can play a guy that just went crazy after his face was "disfigured" makes him suitable for the role.

Batgirl/Barbara Gordon - AJ Lee : I honestly think she's thre youngest looking Diva. Plus she's a brunette and I wouldn't cast a blonde to play batgirl. I didn't like the idea of a blonde Batgirl in Batman & Robin too.

Dick Greyson/Robin - Evan Bourne : Fits for obvious reasons.

Edward Nigma/The Riddler - The Miz : He just has that whole narcissist thing about him. Plus he can be both funny and pretty serious.

Rachel Daws/Batman's love interest - Kelly Kelly : Best looking Diva. Nough Said.

Bane - Mason Ryan : Just like Evan Bourne Ryan fits the role obviously.

Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow - Christian : Good actor. His character has a "temper controlling" advantage just like The Scarecrow has a "Fear control" advantage. And he just has the look that says Scarecrow.

Selena Kyle/Catwoman - Maryse : What you said about her makes her perfect for this role.

James Gordon - Triple H : He has that "leader" factor about him. Plus his facial hair is good enough to give him the Gordon look.

Sal Maroni - Alberto Del Rio : To me Del Rio has the look of a mob leader. Plus he's always wearing a suit and riding in style so why not.
