The Dark Knight: Contains Spoilers

I found this image of an action figure of The Joker which the face was a real mold of The Joker Heath's face. Take it for what it's worth.

I am skeptical about this film, I dont know if i will be able to accept Heath as the Joker. I think its cos I am a MASSIVE Jack Nicholson fan. I think he was a fantastic Joker

The '89 version has dated terribly. Yeah it's still good. But Jack's performance doesn't stand up to much anymore. Basically he's just himself in it.

It's still the best one for me. I think Michael and Jack worked well in that film. It was just brilliant. The worst barman film I have seen is the one with Arnie in it. Batman and Robin i think....

I watched Batman last fall, and it's still awesome to me, but hey, I was 9 when it came out, so I was young and impresionable. I still think Jack has been the best Joker in it, he just fits that role perfectly.

However, Heath is slowly starting to win me over. The only problem I may have with this movie is if they, allegedly, stuff 4 baddies in there, then it becomes over kill.

If they only introduce them in a casual way like having Harvey Dent and not Two Face, and Edward Nigma not The Riddler. If they have the Joker be the main villian and Penguin only be a small role in it like a brief cameo of him in the movie. But when they do the Riddler I hope they do the newer version of the Riddler who has gone nutty and has Question marks tattooed all over his body and face. That is only in a singular Batman Movie. hopefully they also don't kill The Joker as that shouldn't happen. and hopefully this introduces Harley Quinn in some role.

Yea, if they have em in cameo roles it would b ok a guess, or nt have em as major baddies, an just like part of the jokers crew, a could kinda accept that.

The Penguin is apparently a British arms dealer. Although I've heard he's in the next one. Not the Dark Knight. Scarecrow appears again. I dont know in what capacity. Harvey Dent wont be a villian until the third one. Edward Nigma is supposed to be in it for about 30 min at the most. And The Joker apparently doesn't die. I belive the third one is basically about The Joker on trial. Although those are just rumours.

Rumors from ComicCon '08 is that Two-Face will play a minor role to Jokers main villain of the second movie.Rumor has it the third movie will feature the Riddler.

WARNING: Beware, Spoilers are below. So if you don’t want to know, don’t read any further.

* When The Joker (Heath Ledger) kidnaps Rachael Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) from a big party, Dawes is forced to reveal Batman’s true identity, Bruce Wayne. Later, however, The Joker becomes convinced that Dawes lied to him when he encounters both Bruce Wayne and Batman in the same room together simultaneously. I have no idea how Bruce pulls this off. I would assume that if a Batman impostor exists, Joker would likely be in on that joke. This causes Joker to think that Bruce Wayne is NOT Batman and that Rachel, in fact, lied to him… His accusation of her deception doesn’t end well.
* Apparently there is an impostor posing as Batman who is running around Gotham City. The cops believe he is the real Batman and that he is on their side. How this plays into the big story is unknown. I know that this may seem very unlikely and improbable, but my source has not been wrong yet.

Sweet. It sounds like the Joker is just going to be completely bad ass in this movie. I know a big gripe in the comic book land is that the Joker is the only villian to ever do anything really bad to the Batman. It's true, he cripples Batgirl, kills Robin. I think this is great that this Joker is going to be that Joker.

If The Joker turns out to be a complet psycho then I'll be happy. That's how I like it. Not acciedntal villains like in the Spider-Man movies. If he kills Rachale Dawes I'll be even happier. Shame it's not Katie Holmes still playing her, but still.

My guess is that the other Batman is Edward Nigma. I hope he doesn't play too big a part in the movie.

I was joking around with my girlfriend about the real reason why Holmes isn't in the Dark Knight. Not that she was terrible and is too busy worshipping Lord Xenu, but that if the Joker actually killed her, and Batman was angry, then the Joker would become the good guy for killing Katie Holmes.

It looks to be an unfinished shot though, because Heath doesn't have the Green hair. I'm really looking forward to this damn movie. Like you said Jake, the Spiderman Villians were a bore and really never came across as menacing and a threat, except for 10 minutes of Venom, you had 3 movies of cry baby villians. Joker looks to be badass.

I like his hair as it is. If it was green like the '89 version I think it would look to cartoonish. Just a hint of green is fine. Is it me or does each picture you see of The Joker different? The initial two pic's didn't give much away, but together I thought I had it sussed, then that pic changes my opinion yet again. It also looks like make up, so they wont be going down the toxic waste route. I'm fine with that. I still hope that his smile is a Chelsea grin though. Imagine the pre-credit sequence showing him getting it, not suitable for kid's but fuck it.

I kinda like it how we're really not to sure yet on what type of Joker we are getting. You can't tell if it is make up or skin. The Joker is the fucking best though. He's been around, what, seventy years? We still have no idea where the character truly came from, what's his origin, or his real name. Sure there have been the Jack Napier things, but then they will go back and say that wasn't true. The character is great, because you don't really know anything about him. The only thing you do know he is the biggest pain in the ass villian to his hero.

The pictures each time one is released seem to pull thoughts of this movie in a different direction.

You can argue that The Joker is as big a name as Batman himself. That's certainly how they felt when they made the '66 & '89 films. And there's so many rumours about him, but hardly any actual facts. My fave is that he's actually gay, and is infatuated with Batman. It's never said, but he's completley obsessed with Batman, and shows no intrest in Harley Quinn. Although I dont want to see that aspect of him in a film.

I wouldn't want to see that aspect of the character.

I've also read, and I'm trying to find it, a damn good editorial about why the Joker is really the protagonist, and Batman is the antagonist in comic book lure. It's really good stuff.

Essentially the Joker sees Batman trying to impose his will on Gotham City. That he sees Batman as a brutal dictator that lives and dies by the letter of the law. The Joker sees to bring light and laughter to a dark and gloomy city. It's a very good read, so I'll try to find it. Essentially in the Joker's own twisted vision, Batman is a Dictator of Gotham, and wants to break his iron will, hence his obsession with making Batman laugh at least once.

i honestly could probably go on all day about the Batman/Joker storylines.

The Joker's pretty much all revealed now. It look's like that's the rumoured impostor Batman as well. It look's like it's all make up as well and no toxic waste shit.

Hopefully they do some work digitally on Heath Ledger and put in a proper Chelsea Grin on him. The Hair doesn't look too bad. and Costume isn't too bad either but I have to see it in proper Movie Lighting to be totally convinced, Jokers Henchmen also look about right as well. The Impersonator Batman I am still unsure on.

When you have The Joker in the film, the additional Batman seems pointless. He's the biggest villain in all of comic book land. Another element just isn't really needed. I'm sure it will be fine but I would have prefered that storyline to be used in a movie where somebody like Black Mask was the main villain.

POSSIBLE SPOILER: Based off youtube: For what its worth.

I just watched a "leaked trailer/teaser." In this video, it shows that in the movie, (most likely the end) a man sits in darkness, & flips a coin similar to that of Two-Faces.

Now then.. My Official Thoughts:

Jack Nicholson was by far the greatest & will continue to be the greatest Joker ever played. I won't say Ledger won't give me the showing of a life-time.. but Nicholson has the character nailed.. & to me, I've never seem anything with Ledger to prove he can play this type of character. On a plus side.. they're bringing in (from the looks of it) someone to play.. (I think her name was) Tricky. The girl that goes with Joker, as a side-kick. I loved her character.. & if she's in the movie, I'll be happy. (not overly thrilled, but happy none-the-less)

I like that they're going darker with these movies, as that was how Batman was intended to be. That kiddy/cartoon/childish crap that they swerved to in Batman Forever, then continued with in Batman & Robin was nothing but awful.

I liked Micheal Keaton as Batman, but Christian Bale plays a nice role too. Similar to my love for Nicholson playing the Joker.. Tommy Lee Jones, in my opinion, nailed the Two Face character off the charts. (even for the movie turning to kiddy crap) The guy they'll turn to, to have play the Two Face character in the third installment.. once again, I don't know if he can be the type to pull off the role.. & finally.. I seen a picture Jake posted on what is an assumption on what they'll have him look like..

PLEASE, I'm BEGGING ANYONE.. do NOT make him look like that. Thats by far the worst make-up job I've seen in ages. I liked Tommy Lee's, & like Jake said.. just keep it simple.. it was acid that burned his face to begin with.. so just make it a horrible looking burn.. don't make it cartoonish.

From what I understand when they cast Heath Ledger as the Joker the gave him a copy of The Killing Joke, the quintessential read if you are going to have the type of Joker that they are going to trying to pull off in this Movie. This is the type of Joker that killed the second Robin and Crippled Batgirl. You should not go into this movie with an attempt to compare Heath Ledgers performance as the Joker.

I think Jake said it, but I'm not sure. I believe it was at the beginning of this thread none the less.. at any rate ---

I read that the Joker that Heath Ledger has been selected to play the role of, is not the same character from the original Batman movie. (Nicholson played) Furthermore, from the previews I've seen.. it isn't like that movie in the aspect of storyline either. This movie.. apply named, "Dark Knight" is suppose to center on the darker side of this world.. & the characters involved.

The original movie also showed how the Joker came to be.. while something else mentioned at the beginning of this thread, rumored that the movie may or may not explain how he came to be.. but start off with him already being dominate. Also, as a final note.. the original movie saw them kill off the Joker.. & the person in the interview stated that it wasn't announced whether they would or wouldn't kill off the Joker character, but somewhere (maybe also there) I read that he was likely to be a repeat villian, in the 3rd movie.. along side Two Face.

I'm personally like them to bring back Catwoman & The Riddler.. but as far as deadly villians go.. Joker & Two Face definately carry the load. I'd say Penguin from "Batman Returns" was a great, dark, character too.. but I never read the comics.. so I don't know if any of the original movies are truly based off the comics, outside of simple outlining of characters. (like the new sets of Batman movies are suppose to be?)
