The Dark Knight: Contains Spoilers

I like it, don't get me wrong, but fanboys are going to be up in arms about this.

The Joker is a very vain, self conscious person. Self Mutilation is the last thing taht character would do. Hell, he dresses in a suit all the time. He likes to inflict misery and pain on others, not himself. The Joker has never been able to handle physical pain. I don't like the idea of a self mutilated Joker, but I'll play ball if that's the way they want to go with it.

I really think Heath Ledger is going to pull this role off though. I know a ton of people bashed that choice, but that man is a damn good actor, as much as I hated him at first, because he made shit movies.

Honestly I could care less whether or not the Joker's character would be apt to self-mutilate, if Christopher Nolan is making it, I will guarantee you it will be absolutely brilliant. The man has yet to disappoint me, every single one of his films are stunning and always leave me grinning stupidly at the end at the awesomeness that I've just witnessed.

If the guy can make a movie that is told chronilogically backwards in time (Memento) and make it work like he did that film, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on anything.

I like how the Joker looks though, this series with Nolan now is much darker then your old nipple-chested Batman or even the(as awesome as it was) Jack Nicholson as Joker days.

This is just going to be full-scale awesome in my mind, I don't see how it could possibly go bad with a guy like Nolan behind the wheel.

I'm very down with the published photo of Heath as Joker. I enjoy that it's just as twisted as The Scarecrow was in Begins. I do know that they've been using stuff like The Killing Joke as inspiration for this version of the Joker. I've always thought that they should use some other flavors (Lecter, etc.) within The Joker's fabricwork to really encompass a legitimate insanity that isn't so damn cartoonish. Don't get me wrong, I grew up loving Cesar Romero and Nicholson's portrayals, but in the end, I never believed that either of those two existed in real life. If they could do that, and really create a character that can terrify me, then I'm all for it. Plus, the makeup just looks cool. Everyone I've shown the photo too said it looked "creepy." I put in on my desktop and my wife was pissed. She said: "get rid of that thing!" That's when I knew it was good enough.

Looking at that picture. I'm not sure about the green hair. I'd prefere it if he had dark hair with a hint of green. Kind of how it was in the animated series, only not animated obvioulsy.

Yeah I see what you mean, though I quite like that look, then again I did liek Batman forever.

I'm all for a reinvention of the Joker - hopefully they'll be able to turn him into a genuinely chilling, dark character. The removal of all the "cartoony" aspects seems to hint that they're doing just this. Although, at the end of Batman Begins, it was mentioned that the Joker was a "thrill-seeker", so I'm not sure where they're going with this.

Finally, a head piece that just doesn't sit there. This movie is starting to come together very nicely.

On a side not, I love the Razor Blades on the glove, looks like they are adding little pieces of Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael to the costume. God if they could only pull the whole Knightfall Trilogy off on the screen...

I dont think there's any need for all that motif on the body armour. Personally I think they should keep it as plain as possible. I dont think there was owt wrong with the last version.

The first pictures of the bat bike. I dont think he should have a bike myself. He's human so I think he should have a vehicle that protects him. I aslo dont like it when they add too many new things to sequels.

Hopefully, hopefully, they are just testing the reaction for that laugh. It's too high pitched, it won't even look right coming out of Heath.

Cilliam Murphy is rumoured to return. If he does I'm not sure what his role will be. I'd like to see him return but I dont see where he will fit in. Personally I dont see why they cant have the same villain in two films in a row. Perhaps his fear syrum had something to do with The Jokers manic laugh.

SPOILERS!!!

Despite that rumor that Gary Oldman is considering retirement from the acting biz, his role in next summer's Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight, just got a little juicier. Oldman, who plays future Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon, has been joined by tube star Melinda McGraw (Desperate Housewives and West Wing) and Babel's Nathan Gamble, who'll play the cop's wife and son in the Bat action flick. McGraw and Gamble are the latest additions to the ever-expanding Dark Knight cast, which already includes Christian Bale as you-know-who, Heath Ledger as the Joker, Morgan Freeman as Batman's tech-whiz pal Lucius Fox, Maggie Gyllenhaal as Batgirlfriend Rachel Dawes, Aaron Eckhart as D.A. Harvey Dent, Michael Caine as Alfred the butler, Eric Roberts as gangster Sal Maroni (the guy who scars Dent and helps turn him into Two-Face), Nestor Carbonell as the Gotham City mayor and Anthony Michael Hall, who's rumored to be playing Edward Nigma, who eventually becomes Batman baddie the Riddler

I dont see the point of The Riddler being in it. Hopefully it's a very small role, and it's as Edward Nigma. I was hoping to see The Penguin involved. I heard he was supposed to be an British arms dealer. Timothy Spall would be perfect for the role. He wouldn't need any make up and you wonuld'nt find a better actor to play him.

Shit poster. It should be a teaser. Even though everyone knows what Chris Nolan's verion of Batman looks like, they should still hold back. I hope they dont have a profile of The Joker. Just a close up of his smile will do.

I don't think the movie is completely about the Joker. It sounds like The Scarecrow is back and they might actually do something with two-Face, so maybe the main poster being of the joker would be a little misleading? I don't know, I haven't read anything, but maybe that's the reason.

Yeah but The Joker will be the main selling point. He's a huge villain, and he could possibly be even more popular than Batman himself. I just think it's a boring poster. It's supposed to intrigue you. But It's just a profile shot of Batman. Maybe there going to play it this way because it's called The Dark Knight and there worried about it not being called Batman something.

But I think a close up of say The Jokers grin, or Harvey Dent flicking a coin would be more intresting.

I guess, but it's just a poster, and people are going to go see it anyway. Better you make sure people know what the movie's about then tease a bad guy I guess.

You're still gonna go see the movie right? So whatever.

No actually I refuse to see it on account of the bad poster. And the fact that Aaron Eckhart is Harvey Dent, and because Heath Ledger is The Joker. And because like every movie there wont be enough Gary Oldman.

Very excited to see this movie. But, I'm pretty much completely sure that the poster and trailer that Jake posted are fake. The teaser is supposed to be attached to The Simpsons Movie, and could possibly premiere at San Diego's Comic-Con. No real posters have been reported to my knowledge. Here is a possible description of the teaser trailer:

It starts out with the WB logo gracing the screen, followed by the DC logo and the Legendary pictures logo. The screen goes black.

It opens back up as a commercial paid for by the friends of Harvey Dent. We are shown shots of him talking, making public speeches, and walking in a suit, while a deep voice comes on and talks about Harvey Dent. A generic politician commercial.

What seems to be halfway through the commercial, it is interrupted by static, and blacks out. Out of nowhere a crystal clear image comes onto the screen of a blacked out man with large windows behind him. The camera slowly zooms in on him. He's talking (about what I won't say) and as he finishes he begins laughing. Lightning strikes, lighting up his face, as the laughter grows more manic. Cut to black.

The Batman Begins (now The Dark Knight's bat) emblem is shown with the words The Dark Knight. Then it says Summer 2008 and has the website at the bottom.

Anywho, I'm liking the direction this movies taking, and Summer 08 couldnt come any sooner. Now Im off to watch Batman Begins again.

The posters legit, it's of the Empire web site. But the teaser is fake. I was glad 'cus that Joker laugh was fuckin' awful.

Heres a picture of the new Batsuit, its a scan out of Entertainment Weekly from back in June:

I think this helps my argument about the poster.

Another Joker pic.

I'm still maintaining that Ledger is a terrible choice. The teaser picture intrigued me. But images like that make me sad.

Scarcrow confirmed.
