The Bullshiting About Comics Thread w/ Justin & Friends

There's anime versions of X-Men, Blade, Wolverine, and Iron Man?

My mind is blown. Downloading now, this should be interesting.

Edit: Apparently only Wolverine, Iron Man, and one episode of X-Men are dubbed in English. I'll check those out.

They're on G4 on Friday nights, what episodes I saw of Iron Man weren't exactly good, Wolverine was decent though, I haven't seen any of X-men, & don't think Blade has hit air yet (in America anyway).

Yeah I used to watch G4 for video game stuff as much as I used to watch MTV for the music.

Needless to say I skip over that channel quite frequently.

That sounds like more of a Doc question, I think he's the Scott Pilgrim expert of the boards

The soundtrack for the game was epic, so that got me interested in the graphic novels, and since i've been purchasing manga recently, I felt I might as well do it.

I'm thinking about buying the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels, are they pretty good?

I've read them. Surprisingly really good. I'd recommend them. They're good enough to make me read through all of them in one night if that helps.

Damn, that makes them tempting. Next time I go out to buy manga I might pick up the first volume.

I have 4 books this week

-Action Camoics #4
-Detective Comics #4
-TMNT: Micro Series- Rapheal #1
-Venom #10

In other news, Scarlet Spider is coming back soon, & with a new look...

...And this week Marvel is releasing a new X-title, X-Club.

X-Club_1-200x303.jpg

Yeah, the X-men corner of Marvel does seem a bit busy with all the X-titles that already exist, but from what I understand it is also one of the few pieces of the Marvel universe that is doing well, & making money for Marvel, that & this looks like it's only going to be a 5 issue limited series.

A local dude has like 1500 comics up at a store for ranging prices. I picked up a Jan 1972 Capt. America and the Falcon. It's pretty.

And here we go...

USA Today has revealed Marvel's big plans for 2012, with further information expected to be announced by the company tomorrow. Spanning 12 biweekly issues with "Architects" Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Ed Brubaker, Jonathan Hickman and Matt Fraction all on writing duties, the heroic teams are set to clash over the arrival of the Phoenix Force on Earth and its target of Hope Summers. The art will be provided by superstar trio John Romita Jr., Olivier Coipel and Adam Kubert.

A "zero issue" prologue will kick off the event next March from Bendis, with the premise being that the X-Men (although the teaser image below seems to indicate that Wolverine will side with his fellow Avengers despite being headmaster of the Jean Grey School For Higher Learning) want to prepare Hope to be the host of the Phoenix Force while the Avengers want the girl handed over to them in order to keep the world from potentially being destroyed if she fails to control the powerful entity.

"Avengers Vs. X-Men brings together the most powerful forces in comics for a super hero war like you’ve never seen before and will never see again. We all want to see the best of the best go against each other—Lakers & Celtics; Ali & Frazier; Yankees & Red Sox; and in comics it’s the Avengers fighting the X-Men," Axel Alonso, Editor-in-Chief, told MARVEL. "We’ve brought together the biggest writers, biggest artists and biggest characters for the biggest story we’ve ever told. This is the kind of high-octane action-packed story that fans demand while also having a profound effect on every character involved—and reshaping the Marvel Universe in its wake." Below is the official teaser image and description for the event.

Yeah, so Wolverine and his X-Men selling out their own kind to kiss some Avengers ass. I'm hoping Cyclops' team takes some Avengers out for good.

YEAH! Just what we need! Another multi-part event to suck ass! The last three (or so) have been turrible and they barely even spike the ratings for Marvel. I don't see the need or the point other than to bring in more pointless character deaths.

To be fair though, this crossover has been in the works for years. We knew it was coming, it was just the circumstances surrounding it.

I agree though, the Crossovers are getting tired. Fear Itself was a colossal failure.

They've been getting tired long before the "beautiful tapestry" (I believe that's what Quesada, though it might've been Breevort or Bendis, called it) that was House of M through Siege. Hell it's been overdone since Acts of Vengeance and that was 20 years ago.

Looks like I'll have 4 books this week, though only 3 that I'm going to be reading

-Uncanny X-Force #18
-Avengers: X-Sanction #1
-Grifter #4
-Locke & Key: Clockworks #3

Really looking forward to X-force, X-Sanction has one issue to determine whether or not I pick up the rest of the 4 issue mini, Grifter #4 could be the last issue of Grifter I buy for awhile as I've been losing interest in the book lately, & Locke & Key will go in the pile with the first 2 issue which I haven't read, & plan on not reading until I pick up the 4th & 5th vol. in trades.

I've been acquiring a lot of Boom! comics recently. Starborn, Soldier Zero, The Traveler, Incorruptible, Irredeemable...

I think I've found my new favorite comics company.

The guy up town has the Death of Superman on sale for 5 bucks. Any ideas if I should get it It's in a superman logo white case.

Holy shit, huge pull list for me this week

-Batman #4
-Generation Hope #14
-Ghostbusters #4
-Justice League #4
-Nightwing #4
-PunisherMAX #20
-TMNT #5
-The Incredible Hulk #3
-Uncanny X-Force #19
-Venom #11
-Wolverine & The X-Men #3
