Of of those the one that I'm most happy to see is Joe Hill winning for his writing on Locke & Key, Locke & Key has quickly become one of my favorite comics to read, & his writing on it is a huge part in why I love it, it's totally different from anything else I have ever read in a comic book & is very refreshing. I highly suggest everyone check out Locke & Key, I am sure that before you even finish the first Vol. of this series you'll be hooked.

Comic-Con: DC Universe Tackles Dark Knight Returns
An adaptation of Frank Miller's seminal graphic novel was just one of the titles announced at tonight's Batman: Year One screening.

EVENT COVERAGE
Comic-Con 2011

During the panel following tonight's premiere screening of DC Universe's animated original feature Batman: Year One, there was some exciting news to share in the world of DC animation.

Just after the movie ended, executive producer Bruce Timm announced the lineup of upcoming animated titles. Next up will be the previously announced Justice League: Doom, followed by an adaptation of the one-shot Superman story Superman vs. The Elite. After that, the studio will return to the work of Frank Miller with its first ever two-part movie based on Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. "It's going to be very, very faithful to the comic," Timm reassured the audience.

No casting has been announced yet, but in answer to a question from the audience, voice director Andrea Romano said that they would consider using fan favorites Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill for the voices of Batman and the Joker.

There were more questions during the panel about future projects, including Alan Moore's The Killing Joke and Alex Ross' Kingdom Come. According to Timm, The Killing Joke has been discussed. It's not currently on the production schedule, but it hasn't been ruled out. The same couldn't be said for Kingdom Come, which Timm doesn't think will ever be produced as an animated feature. "It's just not made for 2D animation," he said. "It's not a good fit."

Look for the three announced titles to come out sometime in 2012.

I love all the DCU animated movies, so it's always fun to hear what's coming up next, but I wish they would feature characters other than just Superman & Batman in these. I realize those two are where the money is at in regards to mass appeal, but DC has so many other great characters that they could introduce to main stream audiences through these DVDs, & if they're willing to give Wonder Woman, & Green Lantern DVDs then why not give Flash his on DVD, surly they could come up with a 70-80 min. story from the Flash's nearly 70 yr. comic history.

Now that I got my complaints out of the way I am really looking forward to the next three they have on the schedule, & as for future pojects that are begin discussed, well I for one am fully in support of The Killing Joke being adapted to a DCU animated movie.

This thread reeks (not in a bad way) of comics I don't read whatsoever. Don't know if Love and Rockets belong in this thread, but whatever. Any fans of the aforementioned comics? Wait, is this the right place to discuss comics?

I've really slowed down in the amount of books I've been getting, but the new Incredible Hulk that is suppose to be coming shortly has my interest peaked. The Hulk & Bruce Banner as two completly different people? I'm interested.

The amount of books I pick up each week just seems to grow, I'm loving the shit out of the whole Flashpoint stuff going on over at DC, and really look forward to checking out the new 52. as far as Marvel goes, I'd prolly enjoy Fear Itself if it was moving along a little quicker, & didn't feel like such a clusterfuck. X-men: Schism just started but looks promising, Spider Island sounds like it's gonna be shit, & the new Daredevil is off to a pretty good start, & Punisher MAX is becoming one of my top Marvel books. IDW has some good stuff coming out, they just started a new Locke & Key series, this week Joe Hill's new series, The Cape, starts, & they have the new TMNT series coming out soon as well. Lots of good stuff going on in the world of comics right now and good stuff still to come, I'm finding that each week it's getting harder & harder to limited my self to only $20-$25 worth of books.

Just finished reading this week's issue of X-Men Legacy as well as Schism.

Legacy may be my favorite series right now. It's light on some of the X-Men's heavy hitters like Cyclops and Wolverine, but I love Magneto, Gambit, and Rogue, and Legion may very well be one of the most interesting characters in all of Marvel. The story is very good and I'm excited to see how the remaining X-Men on the job manage to defeat Styx, who has appeared to absorb Legion and therefore all of his personalities.

Schism continues to draw my interest, though it looks like there won't be any real action until the next issue. That little kid that's now the head of the Hellfire Club is fucking insane, but something doesn't quite add up with him. Cyclops is still the official BAMF of the X-Men, despite Wolverine's abrasive personality and drinking problem. One thing I noticed about Schism is that it's quite funny, and I for one laughed at all the Iran jokes in this week's issue.

I went to the comic shop this morning, grab my stack of books (which was 5 books in total, & there were still another 3-4 I wanted to get but figured would make things a tad spendy) I go up to pay for my shit & throw my card on the counter, only to find out my card had been declined (I forgot I had ordered Entourage Season 7 earlier in the week, so I was a bit low on cash in my account) luckily I had about $15 on me, I paid for the 2 books I wanted most, X-Men: Schism #2, & The Cape #1. They're gonna hold the rest of my books for me till Friday, when I get paid.

X-men: Schism #2 was awesome, I'm very into this story, love the evil little kids, love the humor, which I think is important in a story like this, you need to break up the tension some, & I just love the back & forth between Wolverine & Cyclops. I also feel that the art in this book was a little better than the last books. I very curious where Aaron is going to take us next in this story. This may be the best event going on in Marvel right now, Fear Itself has just not lived up to the hype so far, & Spider-Island just sounds stupid, though I'm really just not into any of Dan Slotts work on Spidey. For me Schism is the best thing going in Marvel right now, with Punisher MAX being the second (which coincidentally is also written by Jason Aaron).

The Cape was fucking awesome!!!, & no this is not the same Cape that failed on NBC. This Cape is mark darker, and much more interesting. This is from Joe Hill, the same guy who writes Locke & Key, which has become my favorite series since getting back into comics, but anyway back to The Cape. The Cape starts off in the hallway of a morgue where two guys are going into examine a body, one of the guys knows the dead girl they're about to examine, & feels he owes it to his brother (who was dating the girl) to see what happened. the scene is pretty gruesome, and they say it looks like she fell about 12 storys, however that doesn't add up cause there was nothing 12 storys high she near where she was found that she could've fallen from. Next we go toa hospital where one kid is just waking from a coma, and his brother is talking to him, then his mom comes in and sends the kid to find the Doctor and tell him that her son has awoken from the coma, as the kid is leaving the one in the hospital bed (who can't talk cause he's got a tube down his throat) is given a pen and paper & writes "Cape", his mother tells him she threw out that ratty thing and it's caused enough trouble. Then we some guy sitting on a toilet, looking at pics of the dead girl on the phone, and things start to get really interesting. Cops come to question him yadda yadda yadda, I don't want to spoil the rest. Just go out and pick this up, fucked up shit happens, & it's fucking awesome. This is a 4 issue mini, and so far it's awesome. Joe Hill writes some really fun stuff, if you've ever read Locke & Key and liked it, then you'll love this, if you haven't read Locke & Key, then you should find the first Vol. pick it up and read it, it's fucking amazing, & while you're at it, you may as well start reading the Cape, because I have a feeling this is going to get really fun in a fucked up way really fast.

So I'm gonna try and get into comics with the new DC relaunch and the Spidey Island storyline in place for Marvel. Any suggestions for which DC comic I should go for? I'm leaning toward Batman, but there are 2 or 3 versions.

It's hard to say, there are a bunch of the new 52 books I want to check out, the one I'm most looking forward to is Justice League, the team of Geoff Johns & Jim Lee is just way too good to pass up, so I would definitely recommend you check that out. As far as the Bat books go, there are like 12 to choose from, with Batman as teh main focus in 4-5 of them, of those 4-5 books, I would say the one I'm most looking forward to is Batman & Robin. It's really hard to say which you would like best, if you can afford it I'd pick up all the main Batman titles when they come out & then from there on out just stick with the one you liked best.

I've posted this link before, but it's been awhile so I'll post it again, it's a link to "The Definitive Guide To The DC Comics Reboot", it should help you out as you can read what people have had to say about all 52 of the new books, and gives you a bit more information about each book.

And here's a link to the video podcast iFanboy did on the DC Reboot where the go through all 52 of the new titles and talk about them, it's about 30 mins. long I think

I think I'll probably go for Batman and Robin. I don't have much money, as in I have none, so I'm not sure how I'll get them. How much does one issue run these days?

I heard that name and I thought it rang a bell. The Great Lake Avengers are one of the most oddly hilarious teams in the Marvel Universe. After all, what other team could get away with having someone named Squirrel Girl (coincidentally one of Deadpool's worst nightmares) on their roster?

You don't fuck with Squirrel Girl. Just ask Thanos, Doctor Doom, M.O.R.D.O.K. Deadpool etc.

And yes the GLA is absolutely epic. If they had a regular series I'd definitely read it.

I've been singing the praises of the Avengers cartoon (now on Netflix, I believe) for months. I loved how threatened Deadpool was by her, absolutely hilarious.
