The Bullshiting About Comics Thread w/ Justin & Friends

Punisher MAX under whoever writes it now is fucking awesome, at some point I'm gonna have to pick up the first 2 tpbs I just started reading it under the current arc, & it's fucking excellent

So supposedly this is the first official Dark Knight Rising poster released by WB

Emma Stone is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucking hot. I don't like the idea of having only Gwen Stacy and no Mary Jane, though. Part of Spider-Man culture is the fact that he had these two hot babes in love with him and he had to choose.

Disagree. There is a fairly large gap (12 issues, if not more) between the introduction Gwen and the introduction of MJ. Gwen and Peter were just getting settled before MJ showed up. If they can pull that off with the second film, I can certainly forgive the omission of Mary-Jane (who is probably over-used as a love interest) in the first film.

God I hate the way Garfield looks. Too fucking Twilight-esque for my liking. I hope the movie is good, never was a fan of the Raimi films.

Shocky, do you have an account on iFanboy?, surely I'm not the only person on WZ that also frequents iFanboy for my comicbook news

I'm actually really starting to look forward to this movie, really liking the way the suit looks

Read X-men: Schism #1... now I'm impatiently waiting til for next month to roll around so I can read the next issue, thought it did a good job setting up the story, and left me with a bunch of questions I'm assuming will be answered within' the next few issues

Same. Doesn't Cyclops seem a little off to you? He has a sense of humor in this one!

I have this friend that I get into arguments about just about everything with, and last night we got into a debate over who the face of Marvel is. I said Spider-Man, he said X-Men or Captain America, and I laughed in his face. Still, he ignores the common sense fact that Spider-Man is Marvel's top guy, and I need proof to make him look like an idiot. Anyone have any links I can send him that basically confirms it?

I don't read comics, mainly because you couldn't buy them in Tasmania unless you buy them online, but I just wanted to say hello....

hello.

Yeah I wasn't sure if his sense of humor was something really new, or something that just developed over the past 15+ yrs. I was away from the X-men comics. I did like how he would say thing and the rest of th team would just look at and him and just be like "Scott?...", even Wolverine seemed a little taken back by this new found sense of humor Cyclops has seemed to develop.

I've always figured the character with the most titles out is the face of the company, so go see who is featured regularly in both the FF, Avengers & New Avengers, as well as has a host of his own books (Amazing Spider-man, Astonishing Spider-man, Ultimate Spider-Man, & if you really wanted you could prolly count the new Venom series in that as well). I would say that Wolverine is second & Deadpool is third, Captain America will never be the sole face of Marvel as long as they are a globally recognized company, just look at the recent issues with the title of the new movie, do you really think Marvel films would be allowing some countries to take Captain America out of the title of Captain America: The First Avenger if he was teh face of their company? X-men is a team of characters I just can't see an entire team being the face of a company, after all we're talking about the face of the company not faces

Supposedly Generation Hope is suppose to be pretty good this week, & worth checking out, especially if this is a light week for ya... I might pick this up, depends how I feel when I'm standing in front of the wall of new books. Definitely picking up Hulk #37, Daredevil #1, & Locke & Key: Clockworks #1

Everyone knows DC's huge plans for the future, as it's no secret what they're planning on doing with the rebooting of the entire DCU, however they're not the only ones with big plans for the future as Marvel has some big plans of their own, and at SDCC they revealed some of those big plans with there Marvel's Next Big Thing Panel.

SDCC 2011: Marvel's Next Big Thing Panel: Avengers Academy! Hulk of Arabia! Avengers Origins! Black Panther! The Twelve!
by Paul Montgomery

So it begins! This evening saw the first big announcements from Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con 2011. We'll be hearing a lot from the publisher over the next few days, but some of their Next Big Things can now be unveiled.

Let's start with the return of The Twelve.

TWELVE009_DC11.jpg

J. Michael Straczynski is back with artist Chris Weston to finish what was started back in 2008. The dirty dozen of Timely Comics' Golden Age are back. Jugding by these Paolo Rivera covers, it might've been worth the wait.

November

The Avengers Academy sees a roster change! It's like Friday Night Lights. Sometimes, kids just graduate. Or die or whatever. I'm just pleased Finesse is still around. Finesse is rad.

New School! New Students! New Teachers! New Shocking Storyline! After the events of FEAR ITSELF, the Academy relocates to the former West Coast Avengers compound and opens their doors to all the teen heroes of the Marvel Universe! As Hank Pym welcomes many surprising faces to the Academy, an Avenger is murdered—and every student is a suspect! Who was killed, and who’s behind this horrific act?

It all begins in Avengers Academy #21, as writer Christos Gage sends Marvel’s new generation of super heroes against their greatest threat yet!

Black Panther vs. The Kingpin!

This November, it's all about T'Challa and the Fat Man. That's right. The Black Panther is facing off with the top cat of Hell's Kitchen, the Kingpin!

He’s faced Kraven the Hunter and survived Fear Itself, but now T’Challa is on a head-on collision with the one man who may be able to destroy him and Hell’s Kitchen—Wilson Fisk! The Kingpin, the new ruler of the Hand, resurfaces with Lady Bullseye and Typhoid Mary at his side—and the Panther’s in his sights!

Acclaimed writer David Liss & rising star artist Shawn Martinbrough kick off this new arc in Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive #525!

Hulk of Arabia!

October
When an old friend of General Ross is killed, the Red Hulk, against the wishes of the US Government heads to the Middle East, seeking revenge with Fortean hot on his trail. Except when Red Hulk’s plans conflict with the strategies of Steve Rogers, the Secret Avengers launch into action and try to intercept Ross from creating an international incident. But when they encounter the enigmatic and deadly Sultan Magus, their mission (and their lives) may be compromised—permanently.

The next big Hulk arc begins here Hulk #42, as the acclaimed team of Jeff Parker and Patrick Zircher introduce a major new player to the Marvel Universe and send the Red Hulk on his most personal, harrowing journey yet.

November - December

Holy cow, these look gorgeous! Some really stellar looking one-shots.

The Avengers are the most powerful team of heroes in the universe—but what makes one worthy to join their storied ranks? This November, experience five exciting new weekly one shots spotlighting some of the most popular Avengers revealing just what brought them together and just why they’re Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, courtesy of Marvel’s hottest rising stars.

Wow!, looks like a lot of good shit coming out, the Red Hulk mark in me is really looking forward to Hulk of Arabia, & those Avenger Origins one shots just look amazing, and should be worth buying for the art alone, as it's just stunning.

There is only one point of Proof, he has a weekly comic. I could however posit that Wolverine could be Marvel's top guy. But that all comes down to semantics with that.

Superman: The Man of Steel release date has been pushed back 6 months. The Zach Synder directed film was originally slated for a Dec. 2012 release, it is now being being pushed back to a June 2013 release. It's unclear as to why this delay has occurred though speculation is to that their have been some issues with the production of the film, causing this delay.

After Sucker Punch I have lost all faith in Zach Synder. Superman is my favorite DC hero, and overall ranks in my top 5. I really hope he can keep his "creativity" on the DL and not ruin this movie.

I felt he did a great job with Watchmen, I have faith he can do a good job with Superman as well, & as I've said before, he's working with Christopher Nolan on this, as well as a shit load of really good actors/actresses.
