The Bullshiting About Comics Thread w/ Justin & Friends

Justin, check out a new thread series I'm trying to start. It's a battle dome concept where I pit two fictional characters against each other. This week we have Wolverine vs. A Jedi.

http://forums.wrestlezone.com/showthread.php?p=3123858#post3123858

I love the idea, & will try to post in there each week, as for this match up, that's a thinker, I'm going to have to give that some real thought before making my first post in there, that is an epic match-up for sure though

Well, if they won't approve another Battle Arena Tournament, I suppose that'll have to do...

I had the same debate on another forum I used to post on, and it was a doozy, it went over 100 pages. The toughest part is deciding how adamantium and a lightsaber interact with each other. Since adamantium is unbreakable and unchangeable once it has cooled, and a lightsaber can cut through anything, what happens? Does a lightsaber suddenly get stopped when it touches adamantium, or does it just phase through it without doing any harm to the metal? I usually lean towards the latter, which spells trouble for Wolverine, but definitely doesn't put him out for the count by any means.

That was what immediately popped into my head when I saw that match up, that's really the x-factor to this match-up

Just read through the first 5-6 responses to the Wolverine vs. Jedi debate, can't help but feel that people seriously are underestimating Wolverines abilities, as well as to how his healing factor works, and the strength of adimantium, also the fact that Wolverine has knowledge of how to use most weapons

I agree. People are talking about the lightsaber as if it will cut through adamantium like butter. I will concede that there's a possibility that the lightsaber might phase through the adamantium, but there's no way that it'll break it, change the shape, or have any effect on the adamantium.

Also, most landed lightsaber strikes that are depicted in the films show that they make a clean cut, which would be a piece of cake for Wolverine's healing factor. As long as he can avoid getting any of his vital organs cut, he should be able to come back from any sort of damage the Jedi deals to him.

I could go on, but I suppose I should save it for the thread.

The problem I have is that it's been proven that Wolverine's healing power isn't infinite and a Jedi can simply lock Wolverine in a force choke and go to town of Logan.

I dunno, that's a difficult match up. Obviously the lightsaber/adamantium debate is the key thing, at the same time Wolverine's likely faster than a Jedi and could get to him with a claw to the chest/neck/vital point before the Jedi could use his force abilities. I know speed is not the end all be all, but I'd like to think Wolverine's gonna take one hell of a beating to put him down, whereas a Jedi has been prone to take one strike and be done like a regular human would.

Also, Justin, sorry I didn't get a chance to review Age of X yet, I may switch it and review the most recent issues of the Daken series along with the X-23/Daken Crossover.

Are we conceding that a Jedi Master would outmatch everyone else? That's the impression I get but just using "Jedi" in general.

You mean a very powerful Jedi, like Luke, Yoda, or Mace Windu? I wouldn't say they outmatch everyone else, not even close, but I think they'd be able to be victorious over Wolverine, mostly because of how much less effort they need to put into using the Force or dueling.

It does seem higher level Jedi's could take Wolverine, but Wolverine is just a top tier street level hero, not like he is taking on Thor.
Id rather see a Han Solo vs Punisher.

Ladies...wait there are no ladies here... uh Gentlemen I present I present to you the first look at Tom Hardy as Bane (assuming this is a real pic, and not some stupid shit some dickhole on the internet made up, and is trying to pass of as real)

Pssh Punisher would slaughter Solo
Dare you to say that to a Star Wars fan-boy. I agree though. Just seems like more of an even match though.

That picture of Bane looks amazing, assuming it isn't a fake by some "dickhole" as you hilariously put it. Bane is the most physically threating they could go without doing Killer Croc I guess. I wonder if there going to go the route of Bane breaking Batman's back in this last movie?

Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, and Dan Duncan To Bring The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Back To Comics
May 20, 2011 in articles by Conor Kilpatrick

Today, IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon announced the creative team that will bring everyones' favorite pizza eating amphibious adolescent ninjas back to comics when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 hits stores in August 2011!

Radical!

(Sorry.)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman will help steer the new book as the co-writer alongside Tom Waltz (Silent Hill: Part Life) and by providing layouts for artist Dan Duncan and by drawing the variant covers. Regular covers for the first two issues will be drawn by two dudes named Sam Keith and Walter Simonson.

The first story arc will re-tell the origin story of the Turtles and will introduce a new villain, Old Hob who is described as a fearsome mutant alley cat. Alley cats are fearsome enough without being mutants too. You can also expect all of your old favorites in the cast, including Master Splinter, April O’Neill, and my personal favorite, Casey Jones.

Near-ubiquitous in American pop-culture in the late 80s and early 90s, starring in comics, a cartoon, a series of films, and an awesome line of toys, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is one of the most successful indie comics properties of all-time.

This is fucking awesome, I'll will most definitely be picking this series up as soon as it hits stands, the Turtles were the first comics I ever bought, and somewhere I still have a huge stack on old TMNT comics, they were among my favorite cartoons as a kid as well, I am really hoping they don't fuck this up and realease I giant heaping pile of suckage, however time will tell, though from what a gather, the folks working on the new TMNT series know what they're doing and all signs are point to this series being completely epic. Can not wait to get my hands on this.

The upcoming X-men: Schism arc sounds like it might be pretty good, from the way it sounds it's gonna be Wolverine vs. Cyclops, I'm assuming this has something to do with Wolverine secretly still keeping X-Force together even though Cyclops told him to disband the group

As soon as the War of the Green Lanterns arc finally finishes, I think I'll be done with DC for awhile, the scheduling of release dates for the issues in this arc have been frustrating to put it mildly. The story is spread out over 3 different titles, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, & Emerald Warriors, my biggest problem is that those 3 issues all come out the same week, which means you get 3 chapters to the story only to have to wait 3-4 weeks to get the next 3 chapters, by the time new issues come out your already forgetting what happened in the previous three issues, doesn't help that this is a 10 part arc, with nothing really happening in half the issues, would be much better if they just released one issue of this a week over the course of the month, would be soooo much easier to follow, & enjoyable

Thinking that perhaps I need to start checking out the Avengers, I keep hearing nothing but good things about it, same goes for Batman Inc.
