The 2011 Academy Awards LD Is Living Under A Rock On 2/26/11

Yeah never been a fan of movies where people just sit around and talk. That's what books were made for. Film is about visuals and sound and being able to be right there. If you're supposed to figure things out for yourself you shouldn't be looking at it.

I definitely don't agree with this. The Breakfast Club and Dazed and Confused, in my opinion, are the two greatest teen movies ever made and there's nothing but dialogue in both films. Also, movies like Clerks, Stand by Me, The Squid and the Whale, Wonder Boys, etc. are all built around dialogue alone and they're all 10/10's in my book.

Which are great for viewing at home. Those type of movies are terrific for sitting around with friends and talking about them. They're not theater films.

Hereafter was a very plain and ordinary film. I'm shocked it received a nomination for anything.

Very well deserved for this one. When I was watching Social Network, I kept thinking about how there was just about zero wrong choices the guys made when editing. Every cut in that movie worked.

So, TSN won Best Editing. There's been justice. That is all.
Black Swan was great and all, but there were a few bits and pieces that didn't work for me. The Social Network was as flawless as I've seen in recent years in terms of editing.

The songs this year sucked.

Speaking of which, I still don't get how The Wrestler theme song wasn't nominated a couple of years ago. That very well might be the biggest snub in Oscar history.

I wish I understood why as well. The only way you'll ever find out is if you tracked down every person who was responsible for nominating for the original song category.
