Survivor Series 2012 LD

Show was thoroughly EXHAUSTING. The early matches did nothing to pump up the crowd. There was NO reaction to the Divas whatsoever, and I'm sure it came through on TV. The first signs of life came with responses to Cesaro.

Judging from where I was sitting (camera side, lower balcony), it was a very pro-Punk crowd. Not many people seemed to care much about Ryback, and when Cena came out first, I was rather surprised that Punk came out 2 and Ryback 3. That being said...the Cena response was initially very negative...then almost immediately no one cared.

I would have to say that Orton had the best response of the night. His music hit, and the whole place kind of lit up. When he was bloodied and teasing the punt, the place was going pretty nuts. Sheamus was heavily supported as well.

Biggest heat of the night goes to Vickie, unfortunately. It's not good "bad" heat, though...and that's sad for WWE, that the most boos are a result of people really not wanting someone to be there. People don't want to boo her, they just want her off the screen so quickly that it's like an anxious response.

No celebs that I saw. I did see David Otunga pull out of the arena though, in a quite sizeable pick-up truck.

It really came through that they didn't care for Ryback and only supported him when he faced Cena, but that was because it's Cena. I know it's only one crowd and we still need to wait, but maybe some have soured on Ryback. I know I have.

I am curious, did anyone in the crowd understand what happened at the end or realize who interefered, or was everyone irritated and confused?

I'm not sure they broadcasted this on the show feed, but at Banker's Life Fieldhouse, they just installed this:

It's like the screen at Cowboys' Stadium, and the feed was playing on that the whole time. Still, however, no one knew who interfered, at least not in my section. We didn't know until someone texted us. So...the reason for not knowing and being confused was due to no one having interest in any show other than Raw, for the most part...particularly not NXT....not because we couldn't see who they were.

I kind of felt like he needed to win tonight to keep up the momentum. But...this was not the crowd for it. This crowd wanted Punk to win.

Was Cena clearly the least supported person in the match? I would really be interested in hearing what a TV viewer considered to be biggest response/heat, etc from the night.

Cena was the least supported. But I think Ryback didn't even get the 3 count chant from the crowd after the Shellshock. I'm watching the replay right now and I'll see if that's the case. I feel Ryback is falling flat, but not because he lost, but because maybe it's just a flavor of the month.

Biggest response was for Orton with the 2nd one for Daniel Bryan. Really over. Crowd was very pro Ziggler too. Cesaro got some very nice heat and it continues growing. Vickie gets heat as soon as you hear her say a word. AJ is over. My problem was that whole stupid "What?" chants during her promo. She's cutting a good promo and it's almost ruined.

I feel ADR gets no heat. And I felt the crowd was hottest for Sheamus-Show, which is fine because that was a great match.

I was watching on a garbage feed, but I felt Ryback got zero reception. Maybe that was just the audio, but his reaction seemed worse than underwhelming. I like the guy, but I'm not sure most care.

One thing that I will say...

The crowd was EXHAUSTED by the time the main event came around. Too many climaxes happening in Sheamus-Show and the Survivor match. We were beat. I remember watching the Triple Threat match and thinking that it was a pretty good match, but I was just so spent from the tag match that it was hard to get into it.

He was getting Feed Me More chants throughout the match rather than Goldberg chants. At the very least, people are giving him his due.

Ziggler was VERY over...but not sure if it's just because he has the case. I really think not...but the noise for him didn't start until Show-Sheamus. Daniel Bryan IS very over with the crowd, but I think he got lost in the mix for me because he came out with Kane. AJ...she was getting good responses until Tamina came out. Everyone was kind of like..."uhhhh, so now we have to care about her? We just want AJ."

ADR got NO heat. People were really jazzed to see what he was going to drive out and to hear Ricardo, but that's it. He was a heat vacuum.

The crowd seemed kinda hot for the opener.

Not at the beginning. Lots of Goldberg.
Could be a stream thing. Could be where you were sitting. Could have been me carrying on a conversation while trying to watch the show. Who knows? I certainly won't be rewatching the bout, that's for certain. Fun as it was.

And yes, my girlish screams during nearfalls and ermahgerd response to Dean Ambrose really killed the aforementioned conversation.

My brother thought I was crazy when I noticed Rollins and Ambrose. He was impressed with their debut (casual fan).

I firmly believe that Daniel Bryan will be WWE Champion next year.

People thought Sheamus run with the WHC was lacking and many blamed him. I said, "No, it's ADR, he just sucks now." Well, the response to Show-Sheamus has been more then positive and ADR still gets no heat.

Yeah, thats good to hear that Cesaro got a reaction from the live crowd.

Basically every wrestler/matches that the majority of fans paid to see were in the 2nd part of the ppv. So I'm not surprised that the crowd was quiet during the first hour or so.

0-2 in big matches on Pay Per View. Nobody cares that Ryback just won a superstars match over two jobbers this week. Come on, bro.
His 2 losses are both thanks to massive amounts of screwjobs (rogue referee and 3-man assault), and he's still massively over.
Your point is invalid.

How can you declare someone who has roughly 2 months of work in the WWE outside of beating two jobbers at a time "massively over"? Words like this are thrown around so often that I wonder if people really understand what they mean.

To me, there seems to be reluctance as to whether the fans want to fully get behind Ryback, and that's for good reason. No one really expects him to win anything where the WWE Title is involved because of The Rock. The announcers might try to convince you that you need to be cheering for Ryback and wanting him to beat Punk, but subconsciously, most somewhat "smart fans" are going to understand that the likelihood of Ryback winning last night were rather slim, with all of the various factoring elements considered.

Not really. You gotta strike while the iron is hot. We've seen this in wrestling both ways. Remember when Samoa Joe was insanely hot in TNA in 2006-2007? He got screwed a few times and when he finally won, it didn't mean much. Now, I"m not saying that Ryback isn't still over, but screwing him over too many times will get people to stop caring about him. You can already tell in one month that support has somewhat dwindled.

Plus, if this assault is going to be Ryback's next feud, that's stupid. either Ryback will destroy hot young talents to keep his push going, or guys with no credibility except to a few internet nerds will beat him and further destroy his push. At least if he won last month, we'd already know that Ryback IS a top guy who has won the title legitimately but people have taken him away from it. Now, he's just a guy that people aren't even sure belong there. I consider that a problem.
