SummerSlam Live Discussion

Cena has been taking glances at the crowd ever since he came out. Me thinks he might be a little takin in by the reaction here tonight.

Hasn't it usually been that way with crowds that boo Cena? They tend to root for Cena's opponent just because they hate Cena. Punk is the first guy that I think has been a regular exception to the rule.

Notice something here:

the dueling chants are all about Cena. It's not so much pro-Punk as it is anti-Cena. Very telling.

It sounded like CM Punk was being chanted early on. But it did change to the usual Lets go Cena! Cena sucks! chant. It's kinda sad that what Cena said on Raw was true, no matter whether you like him or hate him, you have strong emotions towards him

I dont think so. Usually, Anti-cena chants go "Lets go Cena! Cena Suck!" not "CM Punk!" and its very obvious that its CM Punk.

Ok, the ":Fruity Pebbles" chant is anti-cena :P

Not for the majority of it. Most of it was Let's Go Cena. Some was for Punk, but the majority was Cena.

The million dollar question: would Punk get those chants if he was feuding with anyone other than Cena? It's a known fact that no one gets a reaction like Cena. I'm leaning towards no.

Agreed. Love or Hate Cena, but noones gotten reactions like him since Austin or Rock.

The Fruity Pebbles chant is another example: that has nothing at all to do with Punk. It's anti-Cena and would happen with anyone he was fighting. Very interesting.
