Shadowmancer's Wrestler of the Week

Late on Friday New Zealand time. So I think that it gets somewhere around early Friday for the UK and US. So you have to waitfour days for the next one.

Oh, I smell John Cena coming this week. I can't wait, I luv to watch Cena matches, yay yay yay. Seriously though, the match choices are amazing. I have a lot on tape, i'm suprised to see a lot of these are now hitting the net. That is until Vince blast youtube with a lawsuit.

Nope your Wrong this guy has never ever E-E-EVER faced John Cena or Batista or Lashley. So you won't geuss it. Because there are a lot who haven't faced them and quite possibly never will.

I thought for a second it was Jericho when you said "EEEEEEVER" like he does, then I remembered he's this week's wrestler.

Is it the Bastion Booger? :D

Nope stop guessing you won't get it. I have it well thought out to who it is and will reveal who it is when the time is right.

This weeks Wrestler of the Week is one of the greatest in ring technitions of all time. He holds the honour of being Y 2 Jakes favourite Wrestler. The man who once took horse Steroids.

He is "the Dynamite Kid" Tom Billington

Ill add more as I find them

Here we go, perhaps the most under rated and under appreciated wrestler easily of the last 30 years. The man that inspired Chris Benoit to be the wrestler he is today.

This is another amazing choice. The Bulldogs were a damn good tag team, but Matilda, did we really need a Bulldog mascot to let us know they were the British Bulldogs?

Highly recommend the younger guys watching his matchups. With so many of the WWE DVDS coming out, so many of the Canadian wrestlers credit Billington with their in ring accomplishments.

The man may have been an asshole, but he's still a badass.

The guy is a legend, his tiger mask matches are immense. Makes us Brits feel proud.

Another great choice shadowmancer, keep the good work. Is it Friday in NewZealand now? Of course it is, it's just turned friday in the UK now!

Utterly fantastic choice mate, I'll definately be posting some here, just give me about twenty minutes and I'll return to edit this post to include them.

EDIT: Here they are. You guys HAVE TO WATCH THE 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH! AMAZING! Five star classic there gents.

Dynamite Kid vs. Tatsumi Fujinami --- NJPW 8/17/79

Dynamite Kid, Bret Hart, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine vs. Tiger Mask, Kengo Kimura, Tatsumi Fujinami --- NJPW 7-31-82

Dynamite Kid vs. Tiger Mask 2 Out of 3 Falls Match --- NWA 1983 Part 1
Dynamite Kid vs. Tiger Mask 2 Out of 3 Falls Match --- NWA 1983 Part 2

Way before his time. I watch a Dynamite Kid match and the first thing that comes to mind is "Wow this guy could be wrestling in ROH today". Very innovative. Excellent choice for Wrestler of the Week.

Thanks for that ROHDude and xfearbefore and everyone else that responds, it would be good to get everyones opinion on the Wrestler of the Week. He is as has been said one of the greats of all time, it is a pity that he ended up losing a leg due to excessive Steroid use. But while he was there in the Ring he cemented himself as one of the best technical wrestlers of all time.

I have a very big name already lined up for the next week. Considered as one of the greats of all time. But we will discuss that when the time comes, so any discussion on the skills of Dynamite Kid?

Dynamite simply put was just way ahead of his time. Like someone said before, I could see him putting on matches even Meltzer would give five stars in ROH if he were around today.

He lost his leg due to steroid use? Damn, I never knew that. Hell, I don't even know if he's alive or dead right now.

We definately need more people in here discussing this though, this is my favorite thread in this forum since Shocky's Wrestlezone Tournament ended, and it's a shame that people flock to the Cena thread before they do this one. Ah well, I'm very excited for your next pick Shadow, I'm sure it will be awesome as per usual with your choices.

Yeah he lost his leg to Steroid abuse over his entire career. He is still alive. Check out the first post of the Dynamite Kid bit, he actually took Horse Steroids. He was also known for his ribs, Davey Boy asked Dynamite to give him some steroids, Dynamite goes and injects him with milk, then for weeks afterwards People were mooing at Davey Boy in the Locker room. Dynamite put out a book called Pure Dynamite a couple of years ago.

Yeah it is a shame noone posts in this thread because Im trying to make peoples awareness of some of the good wrestlers that are and have performed for people over the Years. You will quite possibly be amazed by who I have lined up for the next Wrestler of the Week, let me just say that he is one of the greatest champions of all time. And He has never faced Cena, Edge or Carlito. So it isn't Ric Flair although Flair will be done at some stage.

This weeks Wrestler of the Week is the Living Legend Bruno Sammartino.

Good pick this week Shadow. Never really knew much about Mr. Sammartino, haven't seen many of his matches, so I'm looking forward to being able to see some of his best matches.

Niiiice choice mate. You seem to be getting older and older each week with your wrestlers, before we know it you're gonna have Lou Thesz up, lol.

I'll be back a bit later with a few matches of his that I've got saved on my comp. I too have never really seen much of his stuff, but his reputation alone should peak my interest.

Awesome choice bro. Now theres a guy that could put on a match. I cant wait to watch some of those classic matches. Again good choice bro.

I think i'm going to ask Jonny or Jake to make this thread a sticky. Honestly their hasn't been a bad choice since you've done this. I've only recently, as I'm sure most of us are in the same boat, have had access to watch Sanmartino. This is honestly a guy that could still cut it today if he was in his prime. Just a bear looking man. I think it's a crime that he isn't recognized more by WWE, but that's more McMahon politics. How in the hell does someone that held the belt nearly a combined ten years or so only get #200 on the PWI all time list. Ya i Know that magazine didn't start publishing until 72 or so, but jesus, the man won wrestler of the year in 1974. Wouldn't that put him in the top 30 at least, I dunno.

The Sammartino thing in WWE is because of Sammartino's disagreement with the Direction that Pro Wrestling has taken since the mid-nineties. Vince has actually tried to set up a relationship with him apparently. But Bruno Sammartino is the one that is saying No to anything involving WWE. So it is actually Bruno Sammartino that is preventing him going into the WWE hall of Fame.

The Upcoming one is just a personal favourite of mine so you will get more matches and some promos next week. those last two were old school. But you will find out the next in the next few Days. I think I may post it earlier as well.

The Wrestler of the Week this week is a personal favourite of mine: He is the "King of Old School" Steve Corino.
