Sam's Thread of Chattin' w/ Jake & Other Robust Subjects

I just realised this was started on my birthday last year.

And HIMYM is like most american sitcoms....addictive but misses the com bit

British comedy for the most part is terrible. It's about as amusing as watching your fingernails grow. The Office is the only one I can think of worth a piss.

I generally only count about five shows as legitimate British comedies.

Let's see:
Peep Show
The Office
Blackadder
Monty Python
???
Profit

Most the stuff we produce under the banner of comedy I wouldn't even consider television, I'd consider it turd smeared on a camera. When we put our mind to it though, it can be quite funny. I generally dislike anything with a laughter track. Any show that has to point out that something they've done is funny isn't funny. Rule of thumb.

Oh, and I don't really like Blackadder and Monty Python.

Edit: And that's not a definitive list by the way. There are a few other ones I like too.

What about that Fawlty Towers I hear ever so much about?

Go watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Monthy pyton did so much stuff that a small percentage had to be funny, that happened and that's what we know today.

Monty Python isn't even remotely funny. The only sketch I have ever laughed at is the one wihere the northerners try and out-poor each other, but they stole that. Everything else is just that shit pre-1980s Oxbridge humour.

I was thinking about defending British comedy, then American comedy, then I realised they're both shit. Animated comedy and panel shows are pretty uch the only thing that ever make me laugh, and panel shows mostly don't either.

I was about to say that America is probably better overall because they don't have BBC3 "comedy", but then I remembered they do have Just Shoot Me, so I'll call it a draw.

HIMYM is hilarious, IMO.

British Comedy isn't terrible. I always loved Mr. Bean as a child, and the inbetweeners is hilarious.

Our comedy is also great. Father Ted walks over everything.

But Scrubs takes the cake.

I've lost all respect for you Sam.

Not because Scrubs is bad, I've seen every episode multiple times, but because I thought you were far too cool to enjoy a show like that. Your pretentiousness has vanished.

Jake is rolling over in his shallow grave.

Why be ashamed. It's hilarious. But once Braff leaves, there it goes. It'll be like Joey, except the other way around.

But the most recent series has been the funniest

JD's one of the more annoying characters. I could do without him and Elliott. Weirdly enough, I'm digging the new interns. Not the black dude though. He's menacing. It's the eyes.

Yeah I saw a commercial for the new season the other day and couldn't help but be pissed. A whole bunch of new interns that are supposed to be the new main characters I guess. Atleast they still have Turk and I'm pretty sure Cox as well. Braff is going to be in a few episodes too.

Still, they should have just left it at the end of last season.
