The movie was made all the more traumatic by my imagining what would happen if extraterrestrials contacted us during a Trump presidency. Likely he'd insist on being the one to make first contact and then probably talk shit about them on Twitter until they got exasperated enough to leave us alone in the universe.

Is it fair for me to give two stars to Goosebumps and four to the not altogether dissimilar Fantastic Beasts? On the basis that Fantastic Beasts is much better, yes. If it weren't for 10 Cloverfield Lane, that would have been the pleasant surprise of the year.

10 Cloverfield Lane could've been way better with an interesting 3rd act instead of one we've seen five thousand times.

The effectiveness of the third act is its contrast to the rest of the film, not its similarity to other films. Skyline is shit by itself, but cut a bit off and paste it over the end of Room? I'll pay to watch that. In fact, I did.
