Also saw The Guest again. That fucking film, man!

This week should turn up The Riot Club, that holiday film, The Equalizer and I'm going to a showing of Ghostbusters. My girlfriend recently got a managers position at a cinema. This one could be a keeper, guys.

Alright, well, just no kissing this one's sister. Unless this is the sister of the other one, in which case I suppose it's permissible.

Where to put the Home Video Catch-Up trio? I dunno, around the middle somewhere. Four stars for The Double? Ah, sure, I'd never want to watch it again, but it was good. Noah was a laugh riot. Starred Up, less so.

I saw Noah last Saturday and it's possibly Aronofsky's least 'Aronofsky' film along with Black Swan. That said, I don't necessarily mean that as a wholly negative thing as it's been good to watch his progression from smaller indie films to bigger budgeted dramas.

The quick-cut montages of evolution culminating in repeated killings by men throughout the ages was definitely the highlight of the film for me but I did appreciate how they tried to show both the good and bad of people's faith in religion and what they believe 'a creator' wants them to do.

Overall it was just a bit disjointed and uneven in places but Crowe was pretty dam good.

I am genuinely surprised that I can't find A Scanner Darkly on a region 2 Blu-ray. Such a great looking film but I dunno how it compares to the book.

Sam, you going to the upcoming film festival for anything? I've just booked a ticket for the Danish western with Mads Mikkelsen and Eric Cantona...sounds terrific.

Hi, my name is Jake and I have too much time on my hands.

Fight Club will hold top spot until I see that Alien/Aliens double-bill at the end of the month.

Gone Girl lost a star for that needless extra 20 minutes.

I saw these 7 films over two days you should know. Two very long days.

And yet you still find the time to harass families.

At what point did David Cronenberg use his teleportation machine without realising there was a pretentious twat in there with him?

Witnessed elsewhere on the internet: somebody boldly trumpeting how they don't listen to other people's opinions on films and is going to see Dracula anyway. Possible wife material for Jake.

Aye but still! Just looks so much fun!

I should probably make a start with the originals though.

Road Warrior (i.e. the second one) is really the only one I can recommend.

Sam, you going to the upcoming film festival for anything? I've just booked a ticket for the Danish western with Mads Mikkelsen and Eric Cantona...sounds terrific.

Didn't mean to ignore this - can't forget the little people - but... no, I don't think so. The BFI one, the one you're talking about? Meant to look it up.

I'm not really into modern horror - fuck knows why I saw Evil Dead - but the buzz surrounding The Babadook has me interested.

So BBC Films it hurts. It's also spectacularly good. One suspects it could be an even stronger film minus the epilogue, though the bitter:sweet ratio would definitely be pretty skewed. Bill Nighy absolutely smashed it.

Gone Girl is doing quite well in the box office so far and is also getting strong reviews. The movie was filmed in my hometown and our community watched much of it being filmed. It's fuckin neat seeing landmarks and police cars from your town pop up in cinema, as well as seeing the finished project of something the community has been involved with for a year and a half to this point.

Most recently, James Bond drove through the street where I'd buy strawberry milkshake every day and Thor blew up most of my place of birth. The protagonist of Pride is from where I live. I'm basically The Rock.
