Sam, Coco, Barbosa, NorCal, and J-Glass discuss esoteric shows

SONOFABITCH

Almost missed this joke opportunity

Yea Of Kings and Prophets was canceled, but that's ok.....The book is much better anyways AMIRITE?

Who's watching The Americans?

Three episodes into new Daredevil season. Loved Foggy's ER speech even though that scene plays out very different in real life.

Anyway...

At the start of this season, I was worried that the aging of both the characters and Girls itself had taken away some of the show's early magic. But these last couple of episodes have been pretty wonderful: funny and strange and sad and just plain gorgeous to look at. If you had told me even a month ago that the show would do an episode entirely about Marnie, and that it would instantly become one of my favorites, I'd have laughed at you. But "Panic in Central Park" absolutely worked...

Foggy is such a whiney little bitch.

Daredevil is busy saving the city and shit, quit your bitching and step up your game you fucking pussy.

Anyways, it's pretty good though I felt like the season could have been shaved down by say two episodes....things got a bit unclear and unwieldy by the end, but the season finale was spectacular.

That was a key problem with me for the first season of both Jessica Jones and DD: Too long. At a certain point, there just wasn't enough steam in the big arcs to sustain momentum. More stand-alone stories wouldn't be a bad thing.

I stopped JJ after one episode. Have not attempted Daredevil. Out of the two I assume Arrow is the way to go, so that is up next. Maybe finish Fringe as a palate cleanser since I am only at season 2. Thoughts?

Anyone seen 11 22 63? Mixed bag of reviews, not sure if it is worth a look.

And now We The Bold must ask ourselves: "How much pretentious hob-knobbery are we willing to endure for a decent soundtrack?"

Marionettes, guys. Marionettes...

Also, People vs OJ update: I wasn't crazy about the first few episodes. Some questionable choices from start to finish actually. But there are more good-to-near-great episodes than shit ones. Worth it in the end. There are some standout episodes once the trial actually gets going.

Cuba is completely miscast as OJ though. Obviously. I warmed to Travolta as Shapiro and eventually got the sense he was being given deliberately-shitty direction for a reason. Courtney B Vance and Sarah Paulson as Johnnie Cochran and Marcia Clark should get a tonne of awards attention. Also really liked the guy who played Darden.

Fucking DREADING this. My wife LOVES this show, I find that I can't fucking stand the majority of people in the show.

Any of y'all *****s watch Suits?

The Americans was lights out this week. In a good way. Pretty sure I'm the only one watching.

Jessica Jones is a slog. As stated, this is a show that should do more stand alones, this one as a PI show. A couple good episodes though.

I'm hoping she just forgets about it until I switch my schedule to the safety of night shift next weekend. EDIT - I forgot to mention my wife enjoyed JJ

JJ I mean, not Mr.Robot. I'm not getting out of that one.

I wasn't head over heels with the first season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt but the second is absolutely phenomenal.

There are some gems for sure. Carol Kane gave me a few good laughs.

There are a lot of jokes you miss if not paying attention. Timing and delivery are spot on from the main cast.

I don't think the jump is as pronounced as some people do, but it's certainly worth a look if you enjoyed the first season.

And I know I'm shouting into the void at this point, but I don't care: THE AMERICANS.

The Americans finishes up its season this week. So I can stop shouting about it to nobody in particular. At least until next year.

Thankfully, tonight is the return of last summer's surprise critical darling:

Don't let me down on this one, guys!

I say this as more than just a person who hates this show....

But I genuinely do not understand one single fucking thing going on in the second season of Mr.Robot.

Its been utterly incoherent.
