Been binge watching the Tunnel over the last couple of days. A good show.
If you want a good hallway fight watch The Raid or Old Boy. Sure they have way more Asians in them, but that way you don't have to put up with Foggy Nelson's ghastly acting.

Only got past episode 3. I was enjoying it but it just didn't grab me. I started catching up on some films I put to the side and just never followed up on it. Not sure if I'll go back to it or not.

Over the last year, you've got to give it up to Fargo, Leftovers, and Mr Robot for knowing the exact right song to pick at the right time. Also, 12 Springsteen songs over the course of Show Me A Hero's six episodes was a lot, and a huge departure from the norm for David Simon in how he used that music. But it played well.
I'd say David Simon's naturalistic use of music in The Wire is just one more thing that added texture to his world and made his show feel different than anything else out there.

Typing that out got me thinking about my favourite TV soundtracks. As far original music goes, Lost and The Leftovers have both known what beats to hit at the exact right moment. And for my money, the music Lost created to evoke certain individuals really added a lot to, for example, Ben or Desmond episodes/moments that I was already eagerly anticipating. That show was great when it came to those personal melodies.

The Wonder Years had the greatest soundtrack in the history of television, with Freaks & Geeks in a close second considering they only had one season to work with, although it's a bit unfair since they didn't have to worry about distribution rights back then.
I agree that The Leftovers is the best currently on air as far as music is concerned. Supernatual has great music as well.

So I was watching some scenes from Deadwood on YouTube because, why not? What with the film strongly rumoured to be a go I did a bit of reading on Bullock, Swearengen and the camp to try and get a sense of what they could include in the film. The railway coming to Deadwood would have made a great final season story arc (guessing that Wu would have had a massive role) but the Gem also burned down a couple of times too throughout the years, along with Bullocks store.
I guess what I'm getting at is that my big worry for the film is that whatever storyline they go for, it would have worked better as another season or 2.

Watched the first episode of Love. I'm all in. JMT, where do you stand on Judd Apatow things which aren't Freaks and Geeks?
Vinyl seems like a waste of my time. It could all come together later like Boardwalk Empire, but the subject matter of Vinyl doesn't appeal enough for me to push forward until I start seeing credible raves.

I've been working my ass off lately and literally the only television I've watched is an hour of Supernatural the last few weeks. Even today I'll be video editing all day for a friend, so atm it's not looking like I'll be watching much of any TV outside of that and now Better Call Saul, which I had no clue returned last Sunday until yesterday. I'm going to try and watch that tomorrow before Fastlane, when hopefully I'm finished with everything I need to do.
But Love looks likes an interesting premise and I like Gillian Jacobs. That new James Franco show 11.22.63 highly intrigues me as well.

I loved The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up. Thought Funny People was really good too. Didn't think much of This Is 40 and still haven't seen Trainwreck. Never gave Girls a shot.
Freaks and Geeks though tops everything and I'm pretty positive always will. He did another show called Undeclared that was also fun while it lasted.
So with that I definitely consider myself a fan. I'm sure Love is something I could get into... hopefully I find the time to give it a shot sometime soon.

After F&G, I watched a few episodes of Undeclared and stopped. I wasn't over F&G yet and Undeclared was no match. Jason Segel's character was a riot though. Mostly, it was just "Oh shit, a young Jax Teller!"
FYI, AMC has Better Call Saul on Monday rather than Sunday. So you can watch it before you don't watch Raw.

Oh, yeah. While I'm here: Vikings is a thing I gave up part way through season two because I had too much on my plate but I intend to return to one day. Good, just not good enough to make a top priority.
I assume one or both of Barbosa and Norcs stuck it out, right? Worthwhile?

Black Sails has been somewhat middling/underwhelming in comparison to Season 2, but then again, season 2 was one of the best seasons of tv ive ever seen.

I was startled to see it was already episode 7 out 10. Shows that not a lot has happened. It also took us until episode 7 to see our first titty of the season, which is VERY unusual for this show (not necessarily negative though)
Vikings has been solid, but not memorable so far. I am sure things will ramp up soon.
Of Kings and Prophets starts tonight, which I am sure will once again leave me lamenting how good a biblical epic could be if handled by non-religious folks. So much wild source material, so many shit-bucket attempts at making big budget sunday school films/shows.
