The season is still just a mess, though. Man, this is fuckin' HBO, like, this shit aint gonna cut it.
Hope they get it figured out next season, if it even happens.

I found the orgy to be a bit of a let down (first time ive written THAT in my life...) for all the hype.
I also found the entire "tripping balls/molestation flashback" deal to be totally unnecessary and gratuitous.
"Escape from Fuck Mountain" was very thrilling though.

I feel like if this season had a lot of fat trimmed and the episodes moved up (IE the last three weeks had been ep 2-5) and the storyline had been streamlined a bit, we would have a much, much better product.
I think a season 3 will come, and hopefully the season finale is solid.
Loved Colin Farrel and Vince Vaughn. Especially Vaughn, so cool seeing him sink into such a different character so well.
Proves again, as always.....If James Frain is in a show, he will end up being the asshole villain at some point. Its so consistent its an instant red flag any time I see him. In episode one I was like "Oh shit, is that James Frain? The cops are in on this"
I think a season 3 will come, and hopefully the season finale is solid.

Man, that was a bit of a fucking downer. Not to mention, I still needed a poster board and flow chart to figure out what the fuck was going on, and most of it ended up not even mattering anyways.
The HBO exec said the final episode was "probably the most satisfying finale he has ever seen"
He has clearly never watched Spartacus.
If by "satisfying" you mean all the cool people dying and us not even getting to see the shitheads brought to justice, then yea, super satisfying

Best parts of the show, again, were all Vince Vaughn.
I also felt a bit of a letdown & some confused moments when the puzzle pieces were being fit together. The reveal of who was behind the shenanigans was much more of a "Huh? Oh..." moment instead of "Oh shit!".
Here is to hoping they come back strong for a third season.

Are they actually going to pull the trigger on a Deadwood movie? I know there were rumblings before, but there seems to be talk once again. I am willing to bet they can get the actors on board, just depends on the price tag considering a few of them have risen in the ranks a bit since then. Question is will HBO be willing to foot the bill to have a one-off film just to please fans?
I am sure they would if there were enough money to be made, but its not like it will get a theatrical release so IDK if the return would be worth it for them. Sure, fans would love to see a bit more of the story, but you also take the risk of things like these being less than stellar.

Been watching Daredevil, which while hardly esoteric, has some of the most unintentionally hilarious shit going on I've ever seen while still remaining a pretty captivating show.
I'll put my observations in spoilers, though they don't really spoil much, just a line of dialogue and a bit of a character piece.

Yes, killing has become so much less family friendly now.
Also how in the first episode, the secretary for Murdock and Nelson is a woman who is framed for murder and almost strangled to death in her jail cell. But by the third episode she's smiling like nothing ever happened. One can only assume this abrupt change in her demeanor was due to a lovely night on the town with the surprisingly respectful Froggy Nelson.

Yes to both. Whatever the good things you heard about Hannibal were, there's probably some more good stuff you didn't hear about either. What sucks is that it may not go past a 3rd season, just like Deadwood.
The 3rd season so far is visually very dark, as in its hard to actually see what's happening but I believe the intention is to portray the murkiness of the characters' feelings towards each other after the awesomeness that is season 2.
Oh and Mads Mikkelsen is bloody beautiful.
Daredevil is the shit even if I will concede that the secretary's (Karen?) swift switch from frightened mouse to confident cat is a little too swift.
Fisk is an unbelievably good villain and probably the best Marvel villain doing the rounds at the moment. The episode that deals with his father's cufflinks is awesome, as is his exchange later on in the series:
"Why are you shivering?"
"Because it's cold out."
"...Then why are you sweating?"

I still don't mind it but the simplicity of the ninja pajamas worked dam well. A little too well perhaps.
Oh yeah that show is a lot of fun and very hard to stop watching. I'm with you all the way that Fisk is probably Marvel's best villain at the moment, though I'd say, as it stands, I actually feel more pity than anger when it comes to Fisk, which isn't something I enjoy when it comes to villainy. The episode that dealt with his backstory was incredible, albeit borderline ridiculous (this show walks that line constantly but somehow always manages to just stay on the proper side of it), but for me it makes Fisk much more of a sympathetic character. How the fuck is someone with that upbringing going to lead a normal life?
While on the topic of Fisk, I love the Lady Macbeth shit going on with Vanessa. She might be the biggest mystery of the show.
And one last nerd thing:
I think I'm on episode 9, so obviously there's plenty of room for stuff to happen, but I'm wondering if Stick and the mystery man are representatives of The Hand.
Super pumped for The Punisher to join up next season given how brutal this show can get.

Yeh Fisk has been written really well. Like you say, there are moments where you feel pity towards him and his overall vision to improve his city isn't a dastardly one but that fucking car-door capitation and first fight with Matt sure did stir up anger too!
Vanessa has been pretty interesting and they've kept her just enough on the periphery of the action that her role in season 2 could have quite a significant impact.
The role that The Punisher will play is going to be fairly interesting given that I don't believe he'll be as subtle as some of Fisk's goons and I guess he'll be initially presented as a villain. I seem to remember reading a rumour that his inclusion will actually bring Murdock and Fisk closer, which could be brilliant.

And I would agree with you. It picks up considerably. Especially season 3. Season 2 gets a bit unwieldy at times, but Season 3......Killer.

The back half of the second Season of Black Sails is a true humdinger. I assure you.
Started watching Show Me a Hero on HBO. Fantastic show, phenomenal cast, intense story. I feel like the content of the show really fits the title of this thread as a lot of the political talk is fairly esoteric. Sometimes I have to replay the dialogue in my head in order to catch up to what's happening, but it's pretty titillating.

So I'm not usually one to get caught in deep into a TV series, but I started watching Orphan Black and I'm hooked already.
I know I'm way late to the party since season 4 is starting soon, but I have a feeling I'm going to gorge on the first three seasons and get caught up as soon as I can.
