Hmm, for some odd reason I remember it being Shawn Stasiak who was the unfortunate one to be facing Michaels in the first round. Oh well.

Say what you wish about Michaels, even if you think the guy is overrated the moon, the guy could beat Palumbo with his eyes closed. It's difficult to say any more than that; I don't really need to say more. The defending champion isn't going out in the first round to Chuck Palumbo, he's way, way too good for that, no matter how tempted I am to try and sabotage the tournament...

Still, it'll be interested to see if Palumbo gets any votes whatsoever. My guess? No, none.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Palumbo is losing one of the hottest women on WWE TV to Jamie Noble. That alone is reason not to get any votes. Poor chap...

Well, may I be the first to say that I'm glad the polls are finally open.

May I also be the first to say - SQUASH ALERT!!!

If this match isn't finished by less than 100%, it's a travesty. Shawn Michaels, reigning champion, number 1 seed, one of the greatest ever, IN HIS HOME TOWN, against... Chuck Palumbo? A man who has, to be perfectly honest, done bugger all. Mediocre to the nth degree in WCW, followed by complete crap in WWE. The FBI gimmick... followed by the woman-abusing biker gimmick? HBK takes this one easily, and I defy you to argue with that.

This one is surprisingly tough for me to vote for. Although I think Raven will win by a fair old landslide, I have to question whether that's right. This could just be a first round upset.

Raven would have been very much at home in the ECW region, with no rules to abide, and without the uncomfortable memories of his time in the WWE. Santino, unlike Raven, works better when there are rules that he can bend and break, as well as being more comfortable in the WWE's squared circle. Even if this were a hexagonal circle, I think Raven would be more comfortable. However, I think the crowd would be very much on Raven's side, and the guys still a tough son of a bitch, so I'm still weighing this one up.

Where's IC25 when I need him?

Christ, there's really no separating these two for me.

Notable reasons include the close seedings, the fact that both are very overrated, the fact that they're both very comfortable in a WWE ring but would also work "well" if the rules were thrown out, which obviously isn't the case. Bubba's got the size and strength advantage, as he's overweight and boring to watch, but Waltman (X Pac, by the way) has the speed and agility advantage, as he's a little twig which is boring to watch. Overall, I'll go with Waltman. As much as I despise the little runt, I feel that Bubba needs Devon behind him to be at full efficiency, whereas Waltman can suck to a minimum without the help of partner.

Where's IC25 when I need him?

To the rescue!

My loyalty lies with The Milan Miracle. I think Santino is a strong up-and-comer, has a total package of strength and skill, and when pushed will be able to brawl with the best of them - even Raven.

And he will lose.

I am the Treasurer of the Santino Fan-a-Club, but I am also a realist. Raven has what, 20 years in the business? He has proven, during his US Championship stint in WCW, that he is capable of functioning in an environment with rules.

Give Santino another year and take another look at this one. We'll see what happens. But as much as I love him, it's not his time yet.

this is going to be a short match.
true raven wasnt at his best in wwe but still he has got a huge EXPERIENCE edge over santino.

santino maybe able to lend a few blows early but raven is a tough guy. he wont go down easily . after an initial charge santino is going to be beaten red and blue. raven wins a match after a RAVEN EFFECT DDT in abt 5 min.

what makes it intersting to watch though will be the PROMO santino will cut before the match ridiculing ravens career only to get RAVEN ANGRY and FIRED UP beating him (santino) more than necessary before pinning him.

both of these guys are over rated. why they got high seeds is amusing me.
BUBBA RAY has power and mean streak
but X PAC/SEAN WALTMAN has spped advantage and agility.

he is a better singles competitor and accompalished SOMETHING in his career as a singles wrestler compared to BUBBA RAY who doesnt have even a faint moment to remember in his singles career ( not a career a few matches which not many remeber though). so i will go with SEAN WALTMAN though a terribly boring match.

match starts with bubba throwing a few punches in air. waltman avoids and lends in a few spin kicks. waltman goes to the turnbucke but bubba somehow gets up and drags him down leading leading to waltman losing balance and falling on the ropes and then inside the ring.

as BUBBA is BUSY yelling at DVON to GET THE TABLES , WALTMAN takes advantage of bubbas back being turned on him and rolls him up for a quick 1-2-3.

XPAC then gives a crotch chop to the dudleys ( Dx STYLE ) and runs away with the furious dudley boys following him to the backstage

the pressure of fighting HBK in first round is going to be too much for pulambo . even his bike wont be able to find enough fuel to keep running all the way to the ring. he will have to park it madway and walk the rest of the ramp (its a ramp which is flat not slanting)
fans get to hear two sounds only.
1. the ring bell
2. sweet chin music

ONLY MOMENT TO REMEMBER WILL BE BILLY COMING UP AFTER THE MATCH TO CONSOLE HIS LONG LOST PATNER

Here are results

I like both these guys but I can see Double C taking this one, those European Uppercuts and the Ricola bomb could win this match for him. Underrated is what I would call Him right now. Look up a few of his matches and then vote if you haven't voted yet.

Here Is Results

Im going with the original Governator. Jesse is one of the Best talkers as well as being one of the two clones of Billy Graham. I expect a Bodybreaker to DDP for the win for Jesse Ventura. Jesse is one that will go Underrated as he is not well known as a wrestler but as a commentator. But do not discount him in this case. I will continue to stress this look up matches before you vote for either side and make informed decisions. Do Not Make This A Popularity Contest.

Im going to go against the crowd and go with Yuji Nagata in this Case. Looking at his credentials, Beating Masahiro Chono and Keiji Mutoh in the G-1 Climax tournament. in 2001. Two guys that would have a legit shot at the tournament if people would do research and look at matches. He also has just won the New Japan Cup, as well as getting to the finals of the New Japan Cup in 2006, so it is not that much of a Stretch to see Yuji Nagata beating Ron Simmons.

While Doug Williams has an Impressive Resume. He is going up against Bam Bam Bigelow. Bam Bam should win this just on the basis of his size advantage. This will be an Easy for Bigelow. With him delivering Greetings From Astbury Park on Doug Williams for the victory in under 15:00.

Delirious suffers from one thing. Lack of exposure and people not taking his gimmick as seriously as they should because it is genius, he rambles and acts crazy but puts on Good Matches. The Crazyness is a distraction for the other guy, Elijah Burke has never faced this kind of opponent before giving Delirious an advantage which he will use to his advantage and end the match delivering Shadows over Hell to Burke for the pinfall in under 20:00.

Of course HBK, I mean c'mon, he's our defending Wrestlezone Tournament Champion!

Seriously though, I get the feeling there's going to be a whole lot of opening round matches like this between a legend and a jobber. My prediction for the match is Palumbo comes out, hits a couple of good moves, tries a bear hug, HBK does his particuliar five moves of doom (see it's not only Cena!) and 1-2-3 easy pickens.

Not much of a contest here. Anything less then a unanimous victory here is a shame.

Winner: Shawn Michaels

[EDIT: Who the hell voted for Chuck Palumbo?! Burn your wrestling tapes, now!]

I am not terribly familiar with Doug Williams, and judging from the results thus far, little research is needed. But I did some anyway.

What I found impressed the hell out of me, and to be honest, Doug Williams would stand a fair chance against Bigelow just on the count of how well William's style would match up with Bam Bam.

First off, Bam Bam is a big Superheavyweight, but in no way is he immune to limb-based submission maeuvers. His impressive repitore of suplexes is his ONLY chance of hitting high impact slams, since suplexes use an opponents weight as well as momentum to execute (hence how Taz and Steiner were able to perform against larger opponents). Also, his quasi Muy-Thai style of using knees to stun and even bludgeon an opponent would come in handy.

Here's his weakness - his finishing manevers are defensible because of Bigelow's size and experience. The Chaos Theory rolling German Suples would be tough to swing with the power in Bam Bam's legs and girth of his body (since the move involves controlling an opponents waist) and the Tornado DDT (so over rated) is something Bam Bam can scout and throw the kid half-way across the ring.

Williams' British Leglock (reverse figure four) is not too effective against a man with tree trunks like Bam Bam's. If he had a shoulder or arm lock, it'd have a shot. But the only weapons Williams is left with are knees.

Bam Bam will overpower Williams, but it will not be the squash you all think it will be. I give Williams a punchers chance and a mess of near falls before Bigelow pulls it off around the 23-minute mark.

I guess I'm one of the few here to not think that Waltman is overrated. An asshole, for sure, but he's solid in the ring. If you need any proof of that look no further then his Syxx days in WCW or even his 98-99 European title reign (am I the only one who was a fan of the Shane O'Mac and X-Pac feud?).

Bubba Ray on the other hand, is simply a tag team wrestling for life. I, nor anyone else I'm guessing for that matter, have any interest in Bubba Ray as a solo competitor. And for that matter, he just doesn't have that solo experience. If this were ECW or hardcore rules, I'd go Dudley in a second(especially with the threat of D-Von) but I think the ol' 1-2-3 Kid can pull up another little upset here.

Winner: Sean Waltman
