Roode Contract Expired

Nate DaMac

Fuck erbody but me
According to ProWrestling.net, current TNA Tag Team Champion Bobby Roode's contract with TNA has expired, which explains why Roode has not been on TNA TV since The UK Impact tapings.

This makes Roode's status for Lockdown tomorrow night unknown, however he is scheduled to defend the Tag Team titles along with Austin Aries against Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez and Daniels & Kazarian in a three way tag match.

According to the report, TNA Talent Relations head Bruce Prichard allowed Roode's contract to expire, and Roode had to actually bring it to the attention of TNA officials, which could end up costing TNA a lot of money if/when Roode signs a new deal.

Interesting. Probably bullshit, but still.

Good thing I saw this now. I had originally picked Roode/Aries to win at the PPV in the WZPC, and now I changed that.

As NorCal implied, Roode in WWE would be sweet, and if his contract has expired, then WWE is free to sign him. That would be awesome if they sign him.

Probly the main reason I continue watching Impact. Christ on a bicycle, if this is true i'll put all my money on pritchard being the leader of A+8... Wait no, thats not real... I'm so confused. Not resigning one of the few all-round talents they have is beyond stupid.

Simply because it was actually Mike Mooneyham that broke the story and Mike Mooneyham is more-or-less the nicest personality in wrestling journalism (he is an actual wrestling journalist, not like say Labar whose a dick) I believe it.

Whether he leaves or not will be interesting. Apparently RVD's contract is also coming to an expiration.

My reaction to the title; "Oh shit!". If TNA doesn't resign him it will be a travesty. If they don't, it would be interesting to see what WWE does with him, if the E decides to sign him at all.

I like the idea of Justin Roberts announcing Bobby Roode. But I also like the Aries-Roode angle. Hmm.

I think I'll sit this one out until more information becomes available. For instance, information like "No, this isn't like the Devon situation at all."

Roode should do whatever is best for Roode. If that means WWE, then so be it. Unfortunately, I won't be watching if that's the choice he does make.

I call Bullshit on this... remember in 2009 Roode signed a 5 year deal.. it would be year 4 right now.

"My contract is put away and I've re-signed for five years with TNA. I'm very happy about it. They wanted to sign me to a long-term deal. Most contracts are one to three years, but they wanted to keep me around for five. I'm quite pleased.

For now, I don't know what the future will hold for me, but signing the long-term deal is a good sign that in time they'll branch me off into a singles guy again. There are guys in our company right now -- like Kurt Angle, Booker T and Kevin Nash-- who are in their 40s and their careers are near the end. Mine is just peaking.

The company is looking toward their future and I think they'll mould me into one of their spots down the road. We'll have to see what happens, but I think that's what is going to be the case."

Not saying TNA is bad but WWE would be a good call for Roode concerning financials. He'll need it for the future.

If you go to the Non-Spam Thread, Rayne made an excellent point about the later years of a contract extension being "optional." It's a good read.
