RAW LD - September 3rd, 2012

If the only reason you cheer him is because he happens to be from the same state as you then it is. I like Punk. Not nearly as much as a lot of people here but I like him. I don't like him any more because he happens to be from the same town as me. There are millions of people from Chicago. I certainly don't like them all.

You have no reason to like anybody just because they're from Chicago, but to say you don't understand why someone would like him even more because they share the same home state is a little silly.

I think just the opposite. I think it's a little silly to like someone more than you otherwise would just because he happens to be from your home state. I just don't see how it's relevant. I don't see what satisfaction people get from sharing a home state with somebody famous. That's just me though. Obviously I'm in the minority.

It's a false sense of connection that people feel when they realize there's a possibility they might have gone to the same school, shop, or hangout where that person use to live. It's something promoters have been using to their advantage god know's how long.

I think it's akin to supporting your country in the Olympics, World Cup, etc. Same reason people like sports teams that are from their area, with obvious exception to myself, who was born/raised in Chicago and became a Packers fan. So I get that it's not a rule, per say, but people like to feel connected to the sports/teams/athletes they emotional invest in and cheer for on a weekly basis. You ask people from Memphis who's the best, most will say Lawler. Ask the Charlotte, NC residents, you'll get Flair. It's why the majority of Yankee fans live in New York, and most of the country hates them.

I'm from Chicago, and I love Punk because he's good. But I also pop for him because he represents the same place I'm from. He adds a little pride to my home town, and gives us a good name. It's silly, sure, but it does make sense.

I expect a Del Rio run in during the Punk match and Punk in the Cena match. No way were having clean finishes tonight. As much as I would love for Punk to get the win on Sheamus.

Struggling to stay awake due to only Cole on commentary.

It must be that, as Dolph Ziggler is in the match, so in theory I should be calling it the best thing I've ever seen.

We may slate King/Cole for not paying much attention to a match at times, we may slate King for not being like his great old heel self, but right now Cole by himself just isn't working. My god.. at least get Matt Striker out here or something!

The Miz gets a full entrance to commentary, as Randy Orton - a 9 time World Champion - gets no post-match camera time, and walks to the back dark. Dang.

Harold's going to become the breakout star in this, isn't he?

By breakout star I mean he'll enjoy a comedy fifteen minutes of fame.

Yeah Randy's definitely getting the shaft lately.

Hopefully these segments are as good as last week.
