So... how is Geralt going to stop Magneto again? Still waiting. Oh yeah, he is gonna run naked at him with a silver sword & cast sign language fireballs until Magneto gives up and takes one to the face.

If that is how Geralt wins then nobody left can withstand such an onslaught..

You say this like its so implausible yet motherfuckers in here are taking about ripping iron out of peoples blood :lmao:

Tactics like this would ABSOLUTELY happen in the game and there are missions were you have to ditch your armour to get close to the opponent and leave yourself super vulnerable.

I'm glad we agree on the second part.

Well, I would probably be a little nervous at some dirty warrior came running at me screaming with his junk flopping around. Batshit crazy is still intimidating in its own right. I mean, what if it touches my leg while he's attacking? Besides, nobody wants their last memory to be a close up of smelly balls.

I was trying to just focus on his main abilities & what people are familiar with instead of just spouting off feats. Technically he can just open a wormhole & blast him through, but that is overkill. Same thing applies to DBZ, over time some characters just get too powerful to have a fun debate. Does not mean I am unaware of their strengths. I didnt need to start bringing up these other things until you came with the "he will just burn his abilities away" bullshit.

Uh huh. You didn't know that Silver was a non-ferrous metal before I said so, and you didn't know that heat dulls magnetism until I brought it up.

Geralt will fight the Magneto that you were only capable of comprehending before I forced you to change your story. He'll negate his ability to fly and manipulate magnetic materials with his Igni sign and he'll slice Magneto up the middle with his silver sword.

If that is how Geralt wins then nobody left can withstand such an onslaught.

Yeah, nobody else utilizes magnetism in this tournament. It's a damn shame that if you were tasked with having to do so, you wouldn't be able to use science as an argument without my help.

My work here is done. He will not be using fire to take away his power over a damn thing.

Yeah, sure. Now you're back to "It won't work because... it just won't you guys!" Do you see what happens when you fuck around with concepts that you know nothing about?

Magneto's power is the ability to manipulate magnetic materials, because that's why they fucking call him "MAGNETO". Heat dulls magnetism, Geralt utilizes heat whether he's aware of its advantage in a battle or not.

Geralt has an answer for Magneto's abilities, Geralt wins.

Dude, by your own examples, he cannot stop Magneto. Heating a material is not the same as what you are saying will happen. The goddamn EMF field he will manipulate to form and sustain his shield is not a material like a hunk of metal that can just be heated to lose its magnetic properties. He would have to use it to disrupt the origin -the earths core. Not happening.

If you were as smart as you have been implying, you would get that. If you heat a magnet, it does not stop the field itself, just the material from being a magnet. Field is still there.

Thank you for teaching me the ways of science though & thank god you told me all about Magneto too. Couldnt have done it without you. All my years of school and nerd free time were surely wasted it would seem.

My work here is done.

Then what the fuck is this shit supposed to be?

Now you're back on that EMF shit.

Okay, look. From now on, here's your argument:

Magneto vs God.

Step 1: Magneto shields himself with an electromagnetic shield.

Step 2: ???????????????????????????

Step 3: Magneto wins.

If you were as smart as you have been implying, you would get that. If you heat a magnet, it does not stop the field itself, just the material from being a magnet. Field is still there.

What I get is that at one point in this tournament, the narrative was that Magneto would be limited by his use of magnetic materials available in the arena and on the person of his opponent. Now, you sound like a fucking smurf citing the electromagnetic field as the answer to any challenge that anybody could utilize to challenge Magneto.

Thank you for teaching me the ways of science though & thank god you told me all about Magneto too. Couldnt have done it without you. All my years of school and nerd free time were surely wasted it would seem.

Nightmare, I think that you're smart. I don't judge aptitude based on subjects that are a special interest. I know that you're probably just fucking with me here, but I think that we've all made each other a little smarter for taking part in this thread.

I just need you to understand that what you propose will only work if Magneto is the source of his own power or his shield was solid magnetic material. Geralt has no way of stopping him from using the fields power. If the above two were true, then your attack has merit & the science behind why would be solid. Unfortunately, it is not the same thing. Hell, Torch failed to stop Magneto, so how would Geralt? That is like saying Aquaman failed to stop a giant squid or shark despite that ability being his #1 power, but a Sea World trainer got the job done. Not that Geralt is weak, but he isnt a guy who fights just using a fire ability like Torch.

Magneto suffers from power inflation just like all the others with decades worth of canon. I know you are smart as well, but damn man. Why shoot the wad right off the bat like others do, especially with DBZ and Marvel? The arguments change based on what is said in reply to attacks. Points and counter points. I try to refrain from full power off the bat arguments. In a game or two more Geralt will grow stronger as well. He just cannot stop Magneto here. JGlass has already scanned the final competition & sees a defeat possibly coming. So it isnt like the guy is unbeatable, the factors just have to line up.

All in all, good game sir.

Geralt's here, and I obviously like him more than Magneto.

You know me well enough to know that I won't throw in the towel until we get closer to the 29th.

If Magneto gets away with being able to rely solely on the potential of the electromagnetic field, then JGlass is wrong in his assumption that anybody else can beat him.

At that point; Magneto becomes the equivalent to playing Doom on God Mode and I for one think that anybody who wins one of these tournaments more than once should be retired from it to open the thread to more thoughtful discussion. Alduin, Alucard, Bayonetta, Dante, Hercules and Wolverine can't offer up anything to a Magneto who hides behind impossible science.

Even though it's basically a lost cause; here are my arguments:

The Human Torch uses flame as an innate ability, Geralt uses flame as a form of sorcery. The difference being that Torch's flame apparently didn't have the necessary permeability to surpass Magneto's shield, while it's been proven that sorcery does have the necessary permeability:

Comic book canon dictates that while Magneto can block a mutants natural affinity with an elemental force, light based sorcery -- which could be caught and redirected with a mirror or optic device -- is capable of surpassing Magneto's shield and harming him just like it would harm any normal human being.

This means that Geralt's freezing telekinetic blast and his magic flame can break through.

Good enough? No, probably not.

Just for fun, here's a spoiler vid of my Witcher 3 gameplay that I would have shared if Geralt had been put up against Alucard:
