[Official] WrestleMania XXV Discussion

To be honest, I think this year's WM card is far better than WM23 and WM24. Now I'll admit that WM25 has its flaws, but I don't recall there being a "perfect" wrestlemania. Even WM17, as good as it was, had its flaws. From a wrestling stand point, I'm not really feelin the Jericho match. But from a "OMG This is a WM moment" perspective, I'm kind of diggin the match. I say that, b/c I think the Jericho match will end with a return of Austin and maybe some other old faces. As for the main event, I'm really looking forward to it. Personally, I'm tired of hearing the "Aww man, I've seen this match so many times" b/c that can be said for other past matches as well. Hell, Austin/Rock had a myriad of matches, not to mention they fought at three different WMs. Now personally, I could care less if a match has happened 500 times. If the match still delivers on the 501rst time, then I'm cool with it. The HBK/Taker match will be match of the year, IMO. The Diva's Battle Royal will be alright. I just want to see my future wife, Trish Stratus, LOL. I'm not really a fan of the Hardys but I still think that they'll deliver at WM. I'm really not looking forward to the Triple Threat match, but I think it will be better than last years. MITB should be good. I am so damn tired of hearing people say that, MITB will suck b/c of Mark Henry. I'm pretty sure that he won't mess up a match with 7 others competing in it too. The Miz/Morrison vs Carlito/Primo will be damn good. But I think the match would be even better without the pointless "lumberjack" stipulation. JBL/Mysterio will be an "ok" match. I think the JBL/Mysterio match should go on before MITB. That way if JBL/Mysterio bombs, MITB will pick things back up. With the WM returns and moments along with matches, I think WM25 will be damn good. BTW, I just joined this forum. lol
BTW, I didnt realize that there was another person on here with the "deadman Inc" username. For that, I apologize.

There's a difference of a repeat and a REPEAT match. A match we have seen FIVE times in the last year to potentially main event any PPV (LET ALONE WM 25) is just pathetic. God forbid give us something fresh. HHH doesn't have to be in the ME, and everyone here KNOWS if he wasn't with the bosses daughter he would be a mid carder. Even more so these two wrestle mediocore at best with each other. The feud you should enjoy as a whole if you are under the age of 12. Besides the kiss to Steph the feud is HORRIBLE and nothing makes me want to watch this match AGAIN. Feuds can always change, but at the end of the day match is a match and usually repeats itself (besides stipulations) or pretty much the same.

Almost everyone is getting this for one match. HBK vs Taker. Hasnt been done in over a decade and is a guarantee 4.5/5 star match, and I think will top Taker vs Angle NWO 06.

This is kind of like WM18. Everyone only ordered for Hogan vs Rock (BUT NO HHH vs Jericho had to be the ME). EVEN FUCKIN JERICHO said Rock Hogan should of been the ME.

Title matches don't have to ME. Look at SS 08 for example. Both title matches were fresh, but only 2 matches anyone cared about which rightfully so went after.

What chaps my ass? Supposidly Vince said he added Big Show to Cena vs Edge because we have seen Edge vs Cena to much. Really Vince? I do agree with this, BUT we haven't seen these two wrestle five fuckin times within the last year.

My proposal HHH let your friend Shawn have the final match with Undertaker. You know, Orton knows, and Shawn and Undertaker know their match is going to outperform yours by at least 2.5-3 stars. Both men are from the sites state, and almost everyone is ordering for this match.

Didn't seem that great but these last few weeks IMO everyone has stepped up there game.

Could care less about the Diva Battle Royal.
and the Jericho vs legends match MEH!!!!

But Triple H vs Orton is gonna be a barn burner hopefully those two have had good matches against one another in the past and had Orton not got injured immediately following Mania last yr would have been the fued throughout the yr..

Taker vs HBK, well those two could put on a stinker and it would still rock. I loved the attitude style vignette with HBK in the graveyard. Only negative point is HBK said exactly what every other opponent has said, "You don't scare me, i'm not intimidated" BLAH BLAH BLAH

Edge vs Cena would be reasonable, don't think Big Show has any part in that other than probably costing Edge the title and then another Cena slamming the Big Show moment aka Hogan slamming Andre. BLAH BLAH BLAH

MITB ladder match sells itself. DOn't think much of half the particpants, but there was little alternative. It was either that or substitute say MVP or someone and have JBL take on MVP in a unification match.

JBL vs Myrsterio. (BORING!!!!!)

Hardy vs Hardy - mixed, on one had i could care less about them individually but combined they could pull out a Savage vs Steamboat matchup.

as for Title Matches are always Main Events, thats not true and i fail to see how you are coming to the conclusion weird86 that HHH would make sure that he main evented.

Smackdown main evented alot of PPV's b4 he headed over there and at lst yrs Mania, what was the main event? Smackdown - Taker Vs Edge so there goes any insinuation that Triple H controls who main events and would make sure he was the one,

but i certainly wouldn't be offended if Taker vs HBK was the Main event they'll put on a good show wherever it is,

As for only reason Triple H is popular and main events is cause he is married to Stephanie, you sir are a complete moron. He won his first title when he was still hanging round with Chyna and (in Vince McMahon's own words) Triple H earned his respect b4 he ever hooked up with Stephanie by taking all the crap dished out to him following HBK leaving and the Clique incident and his work ethic.

And could it be. I dunno that he actually sells merchandise and has a huge following.
I dunno maybe i'mm just mishearing the whole crowd going wild whenever his music hits.

PFFT. Grow a brain.

I was saying, and sorry if not worded clearly that title matches DON'T have to ME PPV matches. As my example of SS08.

Gameover your obviously a HHH mark, so be it. One of the only times HHH hasn't main evented since his 07 return was when he first got back from his injury in 07, but even SS was based around him (Unforgiven he didnt ME, but wait No Mercy he automatically had three matches). Need I remind you TWO of those were with Randy Orton BOTH for the title! I feel it is pretty ironic that you call me a moron yet he happens to be banging the bosses daughter, he happens to be in the ME at WM25 and it happens to be in a feud we have seen so freaking much the past year where as the other match which we have seen less of (Cena vs Edge) they add Big Show to because "we have seen Edge vs Cena to much." Pretty ironic.

Yah people cheer for him. The general fan that screams because he is pushed down our throats. I forgot other wrestlers don't get cheered either. Mark my words if he wasn't boning the bosses daughter he would be no where near where he is now. Even you I'm sure can name multiple wrestlers both wrestling and promo wise more talented then HHH, yet he is always at the top.

Another point to HHH being in the ME. Look at Wm18. WTF really got this for HHH Jericho? Probably no one, and most people probably dont even remember that match. Mostly everyone got this for Rock Hogan. Why do you think they had the womans match after these two, then had HHH Jericho? So people wouldnt start boring chants, or even start to leave. Everyone knows you couldnt put HHH Jericho after Rock Hogan, because Rock Hogan should of been the ME. Jericho said this in an interview as well. SO your really calling me a moron for saying HHH isnt in it because he's with the bosses daughter. Ok buddy.

Lets look at Survivor Series 08. Everyone cheered for your boy gameover, BUT what happened 5 minutes into the match? The boring chants. I guarantee this, or a chant of repeat will happen at WM25 esp if its the ME and goes after HBK Taker (which it probably wont, because they know it cant be lived up to, so like Rock Hogan they will probably put like JBL Mysterio after HBK Taker)

There's no way in hell HHH vs Orton will get boring chants. It is not going to be a display of mat wrestling like HHH vs Kozlov was. It will be an all out brawl. The pace will be relentless when HHH is on top, before Orton will gain control and slow it right down. Orton has said in an interview he loves boring chants, that means he is doing his job and people will appreciate the babyface comeback even more. So Orton will be the cause of any boring chants. But, this is Mania. The Mania Main Event. People will cheer it anyway and the arena will probably be split 50-50 between the wrestlers as it always happens at Mania stupidly.

Boring chants COULD happen esp after a match like Taker HBK. These two wrestle mediocore at best with each other. Going after a 4.5 or 5 out of 5 star match. If there is a match between HBK Taker and HHH Orton its because WWE knows HHH and Orton cant come close to the match quality of HBK Taker. Prime example WM 18 with the womens match between Hogan Rock and HHH Jericho.

What gets me about this even more then the fact it's WM and HHH has to be in the ME. VINCE MCMAHON decided to add Big Show to the WHC match because we have seen Cena vs Edge to much. I agree with that, BUT if my memory serves me correctly we saw Orton HHH more in the last 2 years. (FOUR TIMES THE LAST YEAR!) In fact besides Edge and Cenas match on Raw I dont think we have seen those two the last 2 years. If this isnt hypocritical, then you tell me what is. As far as the merch, doesnt Cena sell more then HHH? Yet HHH is in the ME..... I'm not even a Cena fan, but I'm just pointing out facts here.....

I like Orton, I do. However there is NO reason to have a match that is THIS repeated headline any PPV period. I honestly wouldnt complain if it was HHH and someone fresh even. Even if it was Edge which to me is still why the hell you do it at GAB? At least it was only done once though.

Its become apparent how bad WM 25 is going to be.

On Comcast they have WM 17 and the Smackdown right before WM for free. Now I was at WM17, my foot got stomped by the Big Show. I was so excited for that WM. Austin-Rock, HHH-Taker, Shane-Vince, Angle-Benoit, TLC 2. I mean that was great. I saved up and spent 550.75 total for the 3rd row ringside seat.

Everybody was stoked, excited I couldn't WAIT. And the show was IMO one of the best Wrestlemanias of all time. With a doubt it last great Wrestlemania

So this year I wait. And I decide to just spend 150 on my ticket. I wait for the card. And I get it, and its pure shit. HHH vs Orton? Shit. Colons vs Queers? Shit. Jericho vs 3 legends? Is this fucking Backlash? Cause this isn't Wrestlemania. Hardy vs Hardy makes me wanna puke. MITB will be good. JBL vs Rey Rey? Big Show vs Edge vs Cena? This isn't a Wrestlemania card. Taker and HBK will be good

This is a Backlash card that somebody should tell Vince is a month early. It's all a dream. Has to be. This is shaping up to be one of the worst Wrestlemanias in the last decade. And thats a shame. Cause WM17 was one of the best Wrestlemanias of all time

P.S. if this WASN'T a Wrestlemania, I wouldn't even be going, its that bad

WM17 is THE best to date , no doubt about it.
Also i thought it was funny that during the Rock / Austin Match on WWE 24/7 everytime the camera shows a close up that features blood , the picture goes to black and white.
Gotta love that PG rating.

I echo your statement , if this wasnt a Wrestlemania, i wouldnt order it either.

TO be honest... the LAST wrestlemania i VIVIDLY remember was wrestlemania NINE! the first OPEN AIR WRESTLEMANIA, BRET VS YOKO, THE DEBUT OF LUNA VACHON!!!

Wrestlemania ten i remember only the womens match, bret vs owen and bret beating yoko for the wwf title.. and THAT was the last wwf match i was EVER at for something like 20+ years.

the reason WHY theyre all so UNMEMORABLE?!?! easy.. TOO MANY EFFING PPV'S A YEAR!!

how can you make ONE ppv seem important.. hell seem like THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THE YEAR.. when less than a month later theres another.. then another.. and another.. and another?!?!

oversaturation is NOT the way to go... shawn michaels (tho i effing hate his damned guts) said it best when he was interviewed in the current wwe magazine.. back when the rockers first came to the wwf there were FOUR ppv's a year.. the rumble, wrestlemania, summerslam and survivor series... getting ON the card was something to WORK TOWARDS and everyone killed themselves trying to get on the cards in ANY fashion!

nowadays, if you dont get on ONE ppv.. not to worry theres gonna be another in TWO FRIGGIN WEEKS so you can hope to get on THAT one... and if THAT fails.. wait ANOTHER two weeks for the next ppv.. and so on and so on..

vince needs to trash all the OTHER ppv's that he run to make them seem worthwhile again.. rumble, wrestlemania, summerslam and survivor series.. thats ALL he needs...PLUS it gives more time to build a storyline instead of rushing thru them all the time.

for all his arguable "genius" vince mcmahon is a FRIGGIN IDIOT!

I love everyone on this topic! THANK YOU! How dare you say this is Backlash?!?! Backlash is usually better then this crap. You guys need to go to the WM25 posts and defend me there.

ok now granted this isn't the greatest WM card that WWE could have put together, but how can you sit and compare possibly the greatest WM of all time, to a WM THAT HASN'T EVEN HAPPENED YET?!?!?!!?!?!?

No there aren't any super great storylines leading into Mania, but the Triple H/Orton isn't exactly awful. But who honestly orders WM because of the storylines leading into it? You order/go to WM because it is the greatest show of the year and all the superstars go all out in their performances. The only match that is going to be awful this year is the Jericho/Legends match because no matter how much Piper, Steamboat, and Snuka reach back and try to perform, it's going to be terrible. They just can't do it anymore. JBL/Mysterio, The WHC match, and the Diva's match will all be entertaining in their own right, but nothing totally memorable. I think JBL/Mysterio may surprise us since we aren't expecting much out of it. Edge... I'm sorry but his matches never disappoint me. He's one of the most consistant performers I've ever seen over the years and have never really seen an Edge match that bored me. The Diva's battle royal... who doesn't love watching them roll around with each other? I know I do.

As for everything else, I think it's going to be great. You know Jeff and Matt are going to go all out on each other and have possibly the greatest extreme match of the "WWE/ECW" era and Jeff is going to do something just batshit insane like he always does at WM. Miz and Morrison's match is going to entertain because all 4 of those guys have great in-ring skills and I think Miz has improved more than anybody in the company over the last 2 years in the ring. MITB gets better every single year. Orton/Triple H will likely headline and it will be the best match they've had against each other ever. HBK/Taker... do you honestly think this won't be great? If you do, you need your head checked.

I know I'm forgetting a match or two but I honestly don't believe it's going to be that bad. You don't have any stiff performers like say... WM23. Khali/Kane...really? No Khali and Kane is in a match where you don't need much agility as the lighter superstars will take care of the huge spots themselves. And there's no Khali, no Batista, no Umaga (who isn't that bad), or anyone that doesn't have much ring agility. Will this be another WM17 or surpass it as the greatest ever? No. But you're oot going to see WM9 or 11 here. Don't shit all over it before you even see it.

I really don't understand how people can judge a ppv, that hasnt even happened yet. I remember back in February, the vast majority was saying that No Way Out would suck. The vast majority were saying things like, "Man, you know Now Way Out will suck. You already know Cena will retain. This is so predictable." Thats pretty much the common statements that a lot, not all, but a lot of people were making. Now a lot those same people think that No Way Out should be up for ppv of the year. Hell, I rememember last year, people thought that WM24 would suck. They weren't going based on the show, no they were judging WM24 based on the match card alone. I remember a lot of people, prior, to WM24 saying shit like, "WM24 will suck. JBL/Finlay is going to be stupid. Mayweather/Big Show is going to be boring. Its so obvious that Cena or HHH will win. WM24 is so predictable",among other things. But WM24, turned out to be badass. I honestly don't understand why some fans do that. I also, think that this is another example of how fans are never happy. A prime example is HBK/Taker. We all wanted that match, and we all got it. Now some people are bitching, b/c they think the build up isnt good enough. I honestly think that McMahon could have the greatest WM card in history, and 40-50% of fans will still complain about it.

Jeremy

I'm going to on a limb, and try to figure out exactly how the WWE plans on workind the main matches at WM25. Starting with Jericho vs all those old guys, Snuka, Steamboat, and Piper. I can see Jericho losing, but not until Austin comes running out to stun him. HHH vs Orton has to end with a bang, and the most predictable way would be Trips losing, while Stephanie ends up with Orton. Or perhaps Shane joins legacy. I can't imagine this happening any other way. Then there is Edge vs. Show vs Cena which should end Show winning. Cena and Edge are the main stars which means by default Show wins, and this would reward SD with a title as well.

Finally, there is Taker/HBK. I can't imagine Taker losing at WM25. HBK has done the "job" before, and I think he is doing a wonderful job working this angle. On the other hand I can see this match ending in a draw or double DQ. If JBL has anything to do with this it will be the most disappointing match of the night. If JBL is involved match is ruined. However if he doesn't, then Taker wins via tombstone.

Well if Orton wins the match and everyone says he is going to,then doesnt that make it predictablr.

I think they need to do something shocking.

Like in the MITB,last year no one thought CM Punk would win it.This year it would be pretty hard to make it unpredictable because everyone think it is going to be MVP or christian.

Of course they could have everyone shocked in some of the other matches, but this year it seems to be a little harder to make the matches less predictable without ruining them.

Meh, Taker's not losing the streak, ever. So HBK will lose. I hope and think Steph or Shane will join Legacy by helping Orton go over. That would be an epic way to end the show and Orton needs to go over HHH anyways. I prefer Steph, because she's a great heel, it's a better swerve, she's fucking hot and I want to see her on TV more.

As for the rest, meh. JBL will probably make history by buying MITB, cashing it later and winning the WHC or retiring as Intercontinental champion. Anything else would be a letdown for something so "historic" as he claims.

Jericho will get stunned while Austin drinks beer with the Legends.

MITB is MVP's or Shelton's if the JBL thing doesn't happen. Vince hates Christian and it's obvious considering the way he's been brought back, why people think him I'll never know.

Cena probably wins, but I really don't give a flying fuck about that match at all and haven't paid much attention to the storyline.

If the JBL, Steph or Shane swerve happens and the matches are solid, I'd be somewhat happy despite piss poor build and not that great of a card.

I'm considering Mark Henry as a dark horse for MITB. It's the only way he'll become main event player, not that I really want that but if they do then this is the way to do it. The only problem is that for him to win, he needs to annihilate everyone else because he'll be slow as hell climbing the ladder, and that makes the other 7 guys look weak. I could see it, but I think MVP or Christian is more likely.

Jericho losing the legend match and then running into the middle of the MITB match and grabbing the breifcase while everyone is down and then cashing it in over Cena. Or have 2 men come down with the breifcase at the same time. I don't think this card is going to rely on shock value though. I think it is going to have to rely on ring work.

WWE Championship Match
- Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton.
Orton wins, as I don’t think the WWE is going to let Triple H over come Orton and save the McMahon family. I see Orton winning this match either with help from a new member of or legacy or even a McMahon turning on Triple H. Even though the match is set up for Triple H to win, Orton will walk out Champion.

World Heavyweight Championship Match
- Edge (c) vs. John Cena vs. Big Show.
This would have been a toss up if the WWE didn’t add the stipulation of the winner getting Vickie. I see Cena winning all the way now so they have the silly storyline of Cena & Vickie together till she is saved by Big Show or Edge with one of them winning the World Title at Judgment Day or something.

- The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels.
Undertaker, as no vet will ever end his streak, only someone the WWE wants to push to the top of the cards will ever beat Undertaker. Maybe Jack Swagger one day.

- Chris Jericho vs. Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat & Jimmy Snuka with Ric Flair at ringside.
Legends will win either by pinfall or DQ with Austin putting a Stunner on Jericho to close the match no matter what and give us our Wrestlemania moment.

"Extreme Rules" Match
- Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy.
Jeff Hardy is lock to win this match as the WWE actually thinks Jeff is a star. They could do the swerve with Matt winning, but they have no plans of pushing Matt, so Jeff wins.

"Money in the Bank" Ladder Match
- CM Punk vs. Kane vs. Mark Henry vs. WWE U.S. Champion MVP vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Christian vs. Finlay.
MITB is suppose to make the next star in a instant, what the King of the Ring used to do. Now at looking at the history of the MITB, every winner has either won the match on their first try or second tries and was a talent fresh to a push in someway. That means it’s open to Christian, Kingston, Henry & MVP. It clearly looks as though Christian & MVP are favorites and I think it’s safe to say that Christian will win, as I don’t think the WWE will push MVP with the MITB. I would love for Benjamin to win, but the WWE doesn’t care about him, Seven years with the WWE and hasn’t amounted to anything. Christian wins.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
- JBL (c) vs. Rey Mysterio.
JBL, because I would actually like to see the IC mean something again & JBL could make the Divas title important with his mic skills and his character.

Unified WWE Tag Team Championship - Lumberjack Match
- WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito & Primo vs. World Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz
Miz & Morrison as the Colons suck. Plus this will make them a way overtag team than before, plus I think this Unified match is a trick as I see Miz & Morrison winning, then later them being drafted to different brands, one Raw, the other on Smackdown and then they just take a set of tag belts with them and thus bring order back to the WWE.

25 Diva Battle Royal
- Will include Divas from Raw, Smackdown, ECW and the past!
Melina unless Trish is in the match. If Trish is in the match, Trish will win, but otherwise it’s Melina.

Btw, this year’s wrestlemania card sucks!

I will definitely not be ordering this, precisely because I am such a mark for Jeff Hardy. This should be WM 25's marquee non-title matchup, but it looks like it's going to be comparable to the Bret Hart-Bob Backlund match at WM XI. I mean, seriously, come on WWE! I'm glad 'Taker and Michaels are going to be duking it out for the first time in almost 10 years, but this match should be nothing more than a cross-promotional or "vintage throwback" match. Also, I really have no interest in seeing Jericho wrestle three guys who are a year or two away from qualifying for Social Security. But, WWE, you give both of these matches more hype than the Hardy feud. Unbelievable.

I'm sold on Orton/Triple H, but that's about it, nothing else really seems all that interesting, Taker/HBK had potential but they built up in a completely ******ed fashion, the Show/Edge/Cena match has about the single most pathetic build I have ever seen for a WM title match ever, Hardy vs. Hardy is just a meh match IMO, they should have just thrown them in MITB instead of Henry and Finley, MITB would be ok with the exception of those two tards, both of which should be nowhere near a ladder match, Jericho/Legends and 25 Diva thing, & JBL/Mysterio are all nothing more than bathroom breaks, the ag title match could be ok, but I could really care less about it TBH, so really the only match on the entire card that I am really looking forward to is the Trips/Orton match, the build for this has been nothing short of flawless epicness

I just cannot be sold on Wrestlemania. I've ordered all the WM's since I can and this one I still ain't decided. I think the lack of that 'wrestlemania' feel is keeping me from buying it and the fact that I've already seen HHH vs Orton many times before and Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels. Brother vs Brother will be good but not a 'show-stealer', JBL vs little kid is going to be a bore-fest and only be intersting for those little kids. MITB has the ability to be good but having Kane, Henry and Finlay just kills it and the fact that its so saturated with 8 people. The WHC title match is going to be a slow match since the stye of wrestling clash with each other and Edge will sadly have to carry both men. Basically this wrestlemania isn't looking very good, especially for a 25th anniversary.

no i am not sold on wrestlemania 25, and i don't see myself ordering it, or buying the DVD....why watch triple h vs. randy orton, when i can just watch their match from a year ago. undertaker and hbk? meh, i'll watch their feud when bof were at their peaks 97-98....

Trips/Orton has been done a thousand times, but meh. The storyline and build from the past few weeks sold me into wanting to see the match. Plus, I still think they're going to go with a swerve at the end with one of the McMahon's helping Orton get the belt. I don't want to miss that epicness if it happens, which is why I'm going to be watching on stream.

Why on stream? Because this card looks like a pile of shit. Taker/HBK will be a good match, not match of the century good like some want to think, but solid, not enough for me to spend 60 bucks on though.

The Edge/Vickie/Big Shit/Cena storyline is without a doubt in my mind the worst Wrestlemania title feud ever. Absolute garbage, and not one fucking promo in this shitty build has made this interesting in the slightest. It's pathetic when a relationship with Vickie Guerrero and a shit, cheap rip off of an action movie overshadows the world title.

Jericho/Dinosaurs, what really needs to be said that hasn't already? Only thing worth a damn here is the ending when Austin comes down, hits a stunner and drinks beer.

Mutt/Jeff, I honestly don't know, I haven't watched SD! enough to follow along. They added a gimmick because they knew they'd deliver a piss poor singles match. I expect Jeff to do some idiotic spot, and win. This will go on another month or two though. Yay.

MITB is unpredictable, and I like that. This one won't live up to last year's but it'll still be solid. Adding Henry and Kane over Bourne and Kendrick is fucking stupid, but whatever. Should be decent, but nothing great.

As for the other matches, who cares?
